I'm clueless when it comes to this kind of stuff but i've been wondering, can photons and electrons touch? I know electrons can't but, can photons and electrons actually collide with each other? Pls no bully, i really wanna know

No OP.
That would be gay if the balls touched.
Science is not gay.

"Touching" at all becomes a meaningless concept at that scale.

wtf is this bullshit? Can someone tell me if this is a reliable website or not? I spend at least an hour trying to complete this bullshit and now they are telling me I need to connect to facebook to get an accurate result.

the website is iq-research. info

i've used it before (got a 106), the facebook check is just to associate a name to it, it doesn't force you to do anything else

How do you think they earn money? This is valuable data for advertisers. Also, the only "accurate" IQ-tests are done by psychologists in controlled environments, and most online tests over-estimate the number grossly because people love hearing they're smart, so will have a more positive view on selling out to get their "number". Wouldn't do it.

Holy bananas!
I just clicked all the wrong answers and got 131 IQ. I really wanted the dumb score but it won't give it to you.

How is climate change real when the EPA denies it? They're the one agency that's an authority on the subject.

Like clockwork, the old bait thread does and the shill makes a new one. Fuck off.

Its only because Trump is so retarded that he believes climate change is a Chinese hoax and so he picked a climate change denier to be the chief of EPA.

Welcome to /LMCT/ #1

The idea here is to ask math questions that really make you think, but can be understood and solved by someone with even just high school level mathematics, as long as he is able to think it through enough. This way we can engage the entire board instead of just the minority who know a lot of number theory and geometry, as happened in the math challenge threads of the old days.

Here is the first question:

Construct a function, through any means possible, that is defined for every real number but is discontinuous at every point in [math] (0,1) [/math], but continuous everywhere else.

If you know analysis then adding a proof for why your function is satisfactory is a nice bonus, but not needed.

If you don't know rigorous calculus then just keep in mind that continuous means that there are no sudden jumps between points of the function.

Hint: Everywhere else includes 1 and 0.

There are obviously many possible solutions so try it even if someone else already gave an answer.

And if anyone has other problems that fit into the spirit of this Light Math Challenge then post them too.

Pic related is visual aid. It is called Thomae's function and if you are not familiar with the notion of continuity then keep in mind that Thomae's function is continuous at every rational point, but discontinuous at every irrational point. Pretty good.

You mean a function that is discontinuous at rationals right?

whats the intersection of these vectors:

[math]
\vec{v_{1}} = \binom{\frac{1}{6} ((2(2y+((1/2)(1-(-1)^{x})))+3)3^{(x+2)}-3) }{y}+\gamma \binom{0}{1}
[/math]

[math]
\vec{v_{2}} = \binom{2x+1}{2y+1}+\alpha\binom{1}{0}
[/math]

I know why Europeans are light skinned and have thin noses and lips. Why don't Inuit? They live in similar conditions.
12 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
The conditions are actually very different. Extreme arctic conditions you end up getting a lot of UV exposure because the light bounces off the snow. You're effectively getting twice the radiation from the sun as normal because it's hitting you from both above and below. They also have to deal with some extremely long days in the summer.

They get a lot of vitamin D in their diet.
>>
>>8740052
Also, diets are different. The inuit diet consisted of a lot of fish and fat, which is high in vitamin D. They didn't need to make so much themselves. Compared to europeans that ate a lot of grain and red meat

Why is there so many retards in our civilization?

How can movie and music industry earn so much revenue while their production quality is so low? Take a look at IMDb 8.0+ score movies, they are all so braindead, recently they made a movie with only 2 characters, rest was CGI, it has a rating of 7/10. Take a look at most popular music on youtube, it contains basic patterns like 1 3 2 3 3 3 2 1. Complex music such as liquid dnb with 3 subtracks and 1 main track is barely known to humans. I believe that most of humans don't even think for themselves, they just glue whatever is popular and accepted by the group, without any logical thinking. I fear that in the future, 99% of the civilization will be enslaved by an AI that is able to generate a movie/song based on people's information, which they gave out for free to botnets.

Why does the universe award dumb people for their achievements? If a dumb person works hard on something thats challenging for them they will be rewarded 10x more than if someone who finds that problem easy but works on something more complex.

>Why does the universe award dumb people for their achievements?
What the fuck do you mean by that?
If you mean they have more money, it's because "dumb people" specialize in more profitable things like business, investment banking, and white collar crime than they do in "more complex" things.
If you mean they're successful in the evolutionary sense, even you know it's because they can pump out more kids by having low standards and a weak sense of morality.

There is no past. There is no future. The present moment is infinitely short and it is observed by the mind - which is also an illusion. Basically it's a complicated algorithm running on a hardware built on particles that exist only as waves when not observed. I'm confused. There is nothing.

If nothing existed, it would be something. And 0=1.
But I agree there is only a moment. Though the world I see is based on my consciousness. We are likely doomed forever.

we're inside a quantum computer
>>
>>8740443
3 days remaining.

It is 0/1, not 0=1

Also it is more accurate to say we are both inside|outside of a quantum computer as separate discrete systems of interaction (Quantum Physics: Interference)

The brain is simply a quantum mesh/pump/muscle that catches/contracts/flexes. The body is a container + reality filter (physical sense interpretation).

I need a one word solution for the pictures.it should be a common relation

Lets say I have a nice explanation of some unproven theorem but I only got there by typing long number sequences into wolfram alpha which then gave me the functions that generates those sequences. (Im working with those functions)

Should I share my findings or just be ashamed that im working in such horrible ways?

> Should I share my findings or just be ashamed that im working in such horrible ways?

Wtf just share it. Conjecturing a result is quite important, altough really different from proving a result.
>>
>>8738741
If you want any glory then you shouldn't post anything just yet because if what you are doing is so trivial as to be solved by wolfram then odds are that any mathematician who looks at your sequence can prove your conjecture immediately.
>>
>>8738741

As the monthly fuel-burn increases, so does the
CO2 rate-of-rise, thus the graph of atmospheric
CO2 becomes steeper. This is not rocket science.
