Why these aren't used any more? is it because of the reptilians?
>>8736087
Yes
>>8736087
Those are awesome pieces of machinery!
BTW they are used in oil industry to as pumps since 1982 I believe.
As for why, I'd say that it's same why we don't have Tesla's Antigravity and Free Energy. Muh elites. Fuck this gay Earth.
combination of some kind of specific use cases and also limitations on extreme uses due to mechanical failures that have only really been solved recently
What's the best online resource for learning? Is it pic related or are there better resources?
Go to bed, Sal
EdX is good, too.
I want to get good at and understand physics without needing to learn any math. Help.
The single best advice I can give you is to come to terms with learning the math or be forever >>>/popsci/
I don't think it's possible...

Do astronauts fuck in space?
>>8736796
No, they're pure christians
>>8736796
No, when the dude tries to cum on the girl's face it'd just float away and get stuck on the ceiling or something.
>>8736796
NASA tell them not to do so, for several reasons
1) you could hurt yourself real bad
2) it must be pretty tiring (difficult to get a grip)
3) it's very hard to clean yourself up (imagine the floating semen)
And more importantly, you live with the same people for 6 months, sometimes more, with almost no physical contact with Earth. If jealousies were to appear, it could be extremely dangerous and even detrimental to the mission.
Lastly you don't fuck on the workplace.
what motivates a high IQ and intelligent individual to come to the conclusion that a permanent solution is necessary for a temporary problem?
>>8736499
The realisation that all temporary problems repeat at intervals until the inevitable outcome of death.
>>8736503
Oh wait...
Did I say inevitable?~
;D
OP if you only knew what is in store for humanity~
No man nor beast can stand the day,
When the mad scientists come out to play~
I have a shit eating grin the size of a fucking mountain right now.
Let's say I don't believe the world is round. How can you prove the world is round to me?
>>8733495
You can't disprove someone's belief.
>>8733495
Kick you in the balls.
Then when you're down, keep kicking them until you explain to us why it's round.
>>8733495
several ways. the easiest is to watch a sunrise or sunset.
Sunrises go from night (no sunlight) to blue to red.
Sunsets go from red to blue to night (no sunlight).
This behavior is because the light travelling from the sun is refracted by an atmosphere, it curves around the earth's circumference, blue light bends more so you see the blues first in the morning and last at night.
If the Earth were flat you would not see this on a horizon, it would simply go from light to dark the moment the sun dipped below view.
The only explanation for red-orange-gold-blue sunsets and blue-gold-orange-red sunrises is that the earth is a globe and light from the sun is bent by the surface of the planet (and the atmosphere which conforms to the same shape as the surface).
Since we know sunrises and sunsets follow the same colour pattern worldwide, you can easily prove the same effect is happening everywhere, so you must be on a ball.
A PISA Perspective.
Education systems have made major strides to close gender gaps in student performance but new challenges are opening.
>Of the weakest students in the 3 core subjects PISA assesses (Reading literacy, Mathematical literacy and Science literacy), six out of ten are boys.
>At the same time, girls struggle when they are asked to think like scientist and apply what they have learned in school
>Boys do less homework that girls
>Boys play more videogames
>Boys rarely read in their spare time
>Girls still lack confidence in their own abilities in math
>Parents are less likely to expect their daughters to pursue mathemathics related careers
>Young men are significantly more likely than young women to be less engaged with school and have low skills and poor academic achievement
>They are also more likely to leave school early, often with no qualifications
>Boys are more likely than girls to report that school is a waste of time
>In higher education and beyond, young women are under-represented in the fields of mathematics, physical science and computing
When girls and boys, men and women, can fulfill their potential they can contribute more to the economic growth and well-being of their societies later on.

Which fields of science is Platonism actually true for apart from mathematics?
Would mathematical constants be considered Platonism? Because constants are extremely useful for Physics.
For example the speed of light (c), gravitational constant (G), planck's constant (h) etc
there are a lot of numbers that seem to be foundation to the universe
>>8740225
Those are phyisical constants
>>8740243
Physics thinks of these "constants" as timeless and independent of other factors, though. Pretty platonic

How viable is it, /sci/?
>Falcon Heavy booster cores are already configured to handle transferring their thrust to a center core
>SLS core is already configured to handle thrust from either side, currently from two 5-segment solid motors
>Simply have two sets of two FH boosters transfer thrust to a common bus structure, which then transfers thrust into the SLS core structure exactly like the two solids would
>Increased booster Isp overcompensates for lower initial thrust and results in increased deltaV/payload for SLS
>failure mode of the SLS no longer includes chunks of burning solid fuel destroying capsule parachutes
>Falcon boosters are cheap compared to all other launch vehicles in their class, probably comparable to the solids already slated for use
Apart from congressmen not allowing Orbital ATK to lose business, why wouldn't this be an option?
>inb4 rockets are not lego
Obviously changes would be made but they would be relatively minor.
ksp is not real life
>>8739936
Hence why I'm asking if this is viable in real life, and not in ksp.
>>8739945
I can't see any reason it wouldn't be viable, but neither was designed to work with the other and vibrations can always surprise you.
Something similar is under consideration, with the Pyrios concept of using modernized F-1 rocket engines from the Saturn V:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturn_C-3#Pyrios
9 Merlin 1Ds have about the same thrust as an F-1. They also solve the Pyrios problem that acceleration may be too high near the end of the burn for the SLS core to take, since not only is Merlin 1D throttleable, but some of the numerous small engines can be shut down.

Afilm, also called amovie, motion picture, theatrical filmorphotoplay, is a series of still images which, when shown on a screen, creates the illusion of moving images due to thephi phenomenon. This optical illusion causes the audience to perceive continuous motion between separate objects viewed rapidly in succession. The process offilmmakingis both anartand anindustry. A film is created byphotographingactual scenes with amotion picture camera; by photographing drawings or miniature models using traditionalanimationtechniques; by means ofCGIandcomputer animation; or by a combination of some or all of these techniques and othervisual effects.

None of the science in Totally Spies! is accurate in any shape or form, its highly stylized and just for fun. It is a children's cartoon aimed at boys ages 12-16

If someone were to download say, a whole lot of scientific papers from a university library and dump them on like, TPB, would that be useful to anyone? Would it be illegal?
>>8738313
No and yes. You can already find all that kind of shit on #bookz and similar sites.
>>8738313
Yes it would be illegal. One of the co-founders of Reddit actually got prosecuted for doing a large dump, and committed suicide:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_Swartz
>>8738313
no it wouldnt be useful, http://sci-hub.bz/ already exists, and it's illegal
How do we go from this.
To this.
Can't they just re-use the same parts that had an already tested 100% rate of succes instead of wasting time and money creating an entirely new LAunch system? A portable laptop could possibly replace all the computers in the original Satrun V so upgrading the electronics shouldn't be such a big deal. Are the engines too expensive to manufacture/maintain? I can't really see why this shouldn't be an option.
The new SLS even has a smaller payload than a 50yo old design. It's fucking laughable.
