I don't think it is endemic. The proliferation of the information on the internet seems to be it worse.

How come we don't get dank rings like saturn? All we get is a ring of space garbage we threw up there.
13 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
if we throw more garbage then we should get ourselves some of those rings
>>
>>9165558
You can! It's just that earthlings are lazy. All you need to do is get out of your chair, go outside, pick up a rock, and throw it straight up in the air. Just keep doing that until you see the rings
>>
>>9165558
Saturn's rings are full of ice. Ice in Earth orbit would have sublimated very quickly and would be gone by now.

You might get away with large quartz flakes though. I am not sure how the Moon would affect such rings.

What's the TRUE story behind this picture? What happened to Planck in 1901? Did he suddenly decide to turn into a bad boy or something?

1901 was about the time he was researching on black bodies and he might have not gotten enough sleep during the period out of excitement.

182 metric tons of boeing 767 at 269 knots
>Hits tube structured building
>Building weighs 500.000 metric tons, 230.000 of them being steel (The exo skeleton).
>Theorists be saying demolition etc.
Listen..
People dont realize this is a building that has more mass than most small towns, the top part
of the tower weighs about 250.000 metric tons, about 500.000.000 lbs, To scale the Eiffel Tower weighs 10.100 metric tonnes.
When a building this massive collapses the bottom part doesnt just stop the domino collapse, it literally implodes onto itself with the force of a small earthquake.
Setting up a demolition able to bring down a structure of that size, would flatten most of lower manhattan..

>>
I would also hasten to add that while the temperature of the fires was not enough to melt the steel supports it was enough to weaken their integrity. Indeed, it had to do that in order to cause the collapse. The fire weakened and caused the buildings floors to sag. This sagging action applied inward force to the pillars which pulled them out from under the structure above. Had the flames been hot enough to melt the steel then a hole would have been bored through the center of the complex and the fires would have dropped through the world trade center, leaving the building a smoldering husk, but still standing.

Don't forget that the kinetic energy of a jet liner is pretty goddamn high.

Let's also not forget about the fucking awesome sims that NIST did of the a plane colliding with the tower. Shit, we're not even talking stored chemical energy here, just the energy contained in it moving. Now as far as chemical energy goes, a jet actually produces enough mechanical power to power a small town. We're talking enough chemical energy to power a small town for hours at a time stored in those fuel tanks.

/sci/, have you ever sat down and realized you're literally a bunch of cells that are consuming and expelling energy to no particular goal and will one day collapse and become a clump of waste for all eternity?

how do you cope with this from a scientific viewpoint?

By giving ourselves a higher purpose.
Such as having a better place for future inhabitors of this world.
Curing the sick.
Intense fear.
Or plain old because God is watching over us.
Or...for the destructive among us...
because it will bring about another atom bomb...
>>
>>9168525
but how can you cope when it's all just organic scaffolding undergoing side effects of chemical reactions? every single action from me typing this post to you thinking about it in your head seems so arbitrary. even if i live my life distinguished by studying in various fields trying to make breakthroughs it seems like such a tiny blip in the bigger perspective of human history, and the history of life, and even then the history of baryonic matter. it just fucks me up knowing that somehow it amalgamated to me sitting at this computer talking to you. knowledge in how we behave and what causes reactions to occur seems to only stop at a certain level that doesn't help do anything but give simplicity for what we are.

What does someone need to do to no longer be a brainlet in your eyes? Do they just have to be clever in day-to-day life? Do they have to be in STEM? Do they have to get a PhD? Do they have to make a revolutionary discovery or invention? How stringent are your standards and where do you position yourself and others in relation to them?

In the fundamentals (at the very core if you like) of mathematics, is there something else than addition, subtraction, division and multiplication?

When you do any equation, in the end, it all comes down to these 4, right?

If you define natural numbers using axiomatic set theory, then not only does 1+1 equal 2, but you can further break that "2" into a bunch nested of sets.
>>
>>9167945
Pshhh, sure, if you only wanna live in the rational numbers.

Good luck defining pi or 2^.5 with just the four basic operations, and no limits or whatnot
