>>Information

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a twenty-seven year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

Even with your arms moving fast enough to appear as eight, you're unable to land a blow on Android Number Twenty. Somehow, the old man fends off every punch you throw, avoids the odd kick you attempt in desperation, and just seems to outclass you in virtually every sense of the word.

Krillin rushes into the air to join your assault, using the power of the Kuma-Ken to attack Gero with everything he has. Even still, the deranged doctor is able to fight both of you off.

Krillin throws a punch at Gero's chest, but the madman vanishes into nothingness, only to reappear in the air above both of you, holding out his hands, one palm extended toward each of you.

Glowing orbs appear in his palms, quickly growing large enough to hide his hands from sight, and then fire in two powerful energy waves that streak down toward you.

>A. Avoid it!

>B. Block it!

>C. Meet it with one of your own attacks

>D. Try to deflect it

You are Lieutenant Richter Von Tracht, commander of the 5th Platoon of Von Blum’s 3rd Company of Panzers, 1st Battalion. Your home country, Strossvald, had just started a war against its southern neighbor of Valsten, throwing you into your first day of fighting in a full blown war.

You’d had some successes; at the very least, nobody in your platoon had died. Your company had successfully broken the enemy’s lines, and secured a bridgehead, and were now taking and holding ground while the battle line caught up.
You had also witnessed a bizarre, and disturbing, act, as a friendly railway gun had destroyed a Valstener town that was still inhabited by noncombatants. Your commander had advised that you stay away, as well, as apparently a noxious mixture of gases was set to be hailed upon it.

This was incredibly disheartening, as you had met with the garrison commander of the town, and had put forth that the citizenry could avoid violence, should they leave immediately. Even that was not enough, it seemed.

Afterwards, you had departed to aid your company’s 4th platoon in taking a bridge, which turned out to have been obstructed by the powers of a soulbinder called the Riverman. Despite his obstruction of your operations, he had merely wanted to exchange information.

In exchange for sort of telling him that you had some vague connection to Poltergeist, the Riverman had informed you of the plot of a band of mercenary bandits to stop Strossvald’s advance into Valsten; they had kidnapped a multitude of hostages, and planned to kidnap your fiancée, Maddalyn Von Blum, as well.

She was certain to still be in the area. The hardened compound that housed visiting nobility and administration was far safer than surrounding lands that had the possibility of being assaulted by wandering aircraft…so long as she stayed inside it.

“I should thank you for telling me that much,at least,” you grumbled. The Riverman’s ethics were geared towards preventing violence, it seemed; which frequently set him against your country’s own plans.

“Like I said before,” the young sorcerer stressed, “I do not approve of these men’s character, or their act of taking hostages. However, if it puts a stop to unnecessary bloodshed…” the Riverman was clearly conflicted.

“Speaking of unnecessary bloodshed,” you segued, “Our high command may have completely destroyed a town near here, and might be planning to gas any survivors with bertholite and flayer. You didn’t hear it from me, though.”

“Destroyed a town?” the Riverman gawked, “Planning to gas? This town wasn’t Koudestroom, was it?”

“It was. Chemical weapons are not prohibited in Strossvald,” you warned him, “As thanks for telling me about this plot…I wanted to give you an opportunity to save some people.”

“Do your people have no morals at all!?” the Riverman exploded, “How could you do that?”

I didn’t. I tried to negotiate for surrender myself. It was somebody further up who decided otherwise.” You tapped on your wrist, “You don’t have much time. I know you sorts can’t be killed, so I’m not concerned for your health, but anybody left doesn’t have the same power.”

“I know that,” the Riverman said harshly as he rose, “I will remember this.”

With that, he was whisked away on an invisible wind.

“Not even a thanks?” you wonder to yourself before trudging back up. If he’d been a little more patient, you might have been able to offer spare chemical equipment. Apparently he had enough confidence in his bizarre magics to not consider it.

You walked over to 5th Platoon’s command tank and rapped on its front. “Bridge is clear.” You announced simply.

“What was it?” 5th Platoon’s lieutenant asked, slightly taken aback by your blasé tone.

“Just a bridge troll.” You said, “It went away. We can go across now.”

“Company just said to secure the bridge, though,” 5th platoon’s lead replied uncomfortably, “Do we need to go much further?”

>I need to pick up something I left on the beach. Come with me and help me get it, and we’ll push our lines too.
>You stay here. I’m going to have a look around the perimeter and see if I can catch anybody off guard with my platoon.
>I’ll leave my platoon here with you and my 2ic. I’m going to take a walk and see if anything’s up around here.
>Other

Any decision will need to be cleared with company command, but you’re likely to be allowed whatever unless it’s something really out there.

Three years ago, the warrior race known as the Saiyans were annexed into Emperor Freeza's armies. Since that day, the Saiyans have acted as the emperor's loyal servents, sent first onto dozens of worlds, exterminating all who oppose Lord Freeza's rule. As mighty conquerors, destroying all who have stood against them, the Saiyans quickly made a name for themselves as some of Freeza's most powerful and loyal subjects.

Welcome to Saiyan Conqueror Quest, currently Age 734 of the "main" timeline. You the players will be able to influence events throughout the Dragonball/Z timeline and possibly change the course of history, depending on your choices and the will of the dice.

You are Karn, a Saiyan Brawler with a powerlevel of 6195, and leader of your own attack squadron. Your team is made of yourself and:
Leyas, Brawler, 5012
Meloka, Blaster, 4738
Tatsu, Warrior, 5882

Character Sheet: https://pastebin.com/iPAJeGJn

Quest rules:
>10 minute vote times or first vote to 3 wins, any ties decided by my roll
>first 3 rolls, best of the 3
>I hold final say on any decisions; write-ins are allowed if not too meta or game-breaking.

Previously, on Saiyan Conqueror Quest:
Karn, Leyas, Meloka, and Tatsu were sent to Krunn to investigate an abandoned Grey facility and kill everything that moves. On the way there you find out more of Meloka's past and motivations. Early in the battle for Krunn, Tatsu is severely injured and Karn sends him into orbit to recover. At the end of the facility they encounter the original beast, matriarch of the creatures. With Tatsu returning to provide a Power Ball, the other three Saiyans defeat the beast and the battle is won. But upon leaving the world you recieve a distress call from Nappa and have changed course to aid your childhood friend.

"So you're telling me Nappa couldn't handle this assignment." Commander Cui's voice asks you through your pod's comms.
"All I know is his squad is down and he asked for backup, so we're en route." you tell your commander. "Can you give us the information on the world he's on?"
"Yeah yeah hold on. Ah, there we go. You're headed to planet Kvir. Well, more accurately to its' moon. Kvir itself is just a gas giant. But the fortification on Kvir's moon is one of the Grey's forward military outposts, and a hard target. They've prepared the world for an assault from our forces, and have been building and stockpiling disposable soldiers for years now. When you land, be ready for a fight."
"Thank you Commander." you reply. "I'll find Nappa and destroy this outpost. Karn out."
Checking your pod's display, you see that you still have a little more than two weeks before you touch down on Kvir's moon. What will you do?

In this thread we shall be adventuring fast and dirty in a harsh fantasy universe not meant for the weak willed, faint of heart, or those who believe in eventual success.

Because odds are, you will die, and very quickly.

The lofty goal I have set is this: Conquer the North.

It is a desolate place, one of mountains, snow, and tundra. No elves wander here, no man sets foot on these hills but as a slave or the maddest of wanderers. Orcs carve their homes amongst the mountains, goblins nesting deep in the caves, the foolish young of the mountains trolls snatched by wandering direwolves, the ignorant orc warrior with his eyes to the hills snatched by winged horrors.

Only a fool would come here unprepared, and that's exactly what you decided to do.

RULES:
When you roll, you roll a D100 to determine the raw outcome of your decision, factored in by previous bonuses or simple common sense. Crit successes are at 95-100, crit fails at 1-6.

First roll: Determine your race. Luck will strongly determine your beginning stats.

A) Human, because the lore said this was a bad idea and I'm kinda troll-y
B) Elf, for the same reason, but I like to pretend I have imagination so I picked elf.
C) Orc, because I want to blend into the local population, plus killing things.
D) Tiger-Man, because I want my start to be easy-mode.
E) Goblin, because we're going to be sneaky-beaky about this one.
F) Other, and if you don't make a crit success on your roll it defaults to a human. Crit fail and you become a small child.

You have rolled A), Human, and scored a 73.

Your backstory is a fascinating tale of dashing luck, swashbuckling brawls in smokey taverns all along the south. A master navigator at night by the stars, an experienced deck hand who knows every knot known to man, and a few you made up, and possibly one of the single best cards players working his craft this side of the Snowy Mountains.

None of which helps you in the slightest, because you're naked, and stuck in a blizzard. You aren't entirely sure how you landed in this place, cold and frigid, slowly icing over your sopping wet body, but you're damned certain that you are about to freeze to death.

You look left, look right, and then turn around. There, in the distance, you see three gaping black maws. Caves. At the very least, it's shelter.

You decide to...
A) Go to Cave 1, because it's rated by difficulty right?
B) Go to Cave 2, because no matter how the caves are determined, this one is probably the best one, because it's the only even number.
C) Go to cave 3 (is this one different? he didn't capitalize that 'c')
D) Go near the mouth of each cave, taking the time to scope them out. Could possibly freeze to death in the process, but it might be worth risking your life to make an educated decision in how to risk your life.
E) Turn around. Go to the other direction into the blind fury of the blizzard. These caves seem to convenient, and maybe oblivion is a better route to take, end this quest early. (Secretly, this option takes you to Cave 1)

You are Vanessa, a sensitive and artistic girl, perhaps ill-suited for a survival situation. But you have tried to help out where you can, and keep the spirits of your companions high.

When you fell asleep last night, you dreamed of a strange and inverse world, a red forest in place of the green woods you had wandered through. In that world, you were pursued by a terrifying machine, but you faced it down with the aid of a strange power, somehow linked to one of the other survivors, your new friend Kate.

Wounded but triumphant, you woke up, expecting to have a hard time convincing the other survivors of just how real the dream had seemed to you. As it turned out, the smouldering wreck of the machine had followed you into the waking world, and now lies across the ashes of the campfire from you, not thirty feet away.

What could this mean?

In this game each player takes on the role of a nation in a low fantasy setting based in the Renaissance. There is no decaying Empire. There is no sleeping evil. There are only your nations, and at the end of the day only one can dominate the Continent.
Each player in the game gets 2d100 to dedicate to the actions their nation takes every turn. There are more than just differences in the rules that define this game from others. In addition, players must provide a pastebin shared between them and myself where the actual contents of a turn are posted. While players are welcome to post their full turns in the thread, players wishing to keep things secret will need to provide this pastebin with the content of each turn's rolls within. Rolling still takes place in the thread, but can simply take the form of "Action 1/2: the type of investment." or some other secretive naming convention. The Discord for this game is here. https://discord.gg/M8PXTu4 Joining it will allow you to share documents, plan with other players, and ask questions efficiently.
Please note: I am only accepting 10 players at the beginning. I retain the right to review every submission so even if you're the thirtieth post you may still have a shot at taking one of the ten if your application is good enough. Each player is granted 10 points to assign to their stats in any denominations they wish.

To join fill out the following Application

The mechanics are simple and built around a single mechanic: investment

Investment is the mechanical representation of your will. It is the primary mechanic behind the game and governs nearly every aspect of it. Learning how to properly manage your stats and your investments is key to success.
Investment takes place in two stages: Survey and Application.

Survey costs an action and happens before any clashing can occur. In this stage the amount rolled determines the threshold for success in your intent. The threshold is simply the number of points that must be invested to invest to reach your goal.

Application is the spending of these resources. After the survey action is completed you may freely invest points into the target until you either lose a Clash or meet the threshold for success.

The Kingdom of Caroven consists of an organized race of tall, beautiful people who have an affinity for, and then excelling at the simple things in life - farming and brewing primarily.

Carovenians are a Kingdom in name only. Consisting of numerous tribes, each in relaxed competition among one another to grow the biggest pumpkins or make the spiciest wine these lovably pretty people have little time for political riff-raff or fighting, and instead devote themselves to the practice and enjoyment of their crafts.

Instead of a regular King, it is lorded over and protected by a massive ogre (Chief Mak'thul) and his kinsmen, who have grown an affinity for their subjects after a long symbiotic relationship - protection, in exchange for food.
>Power
Mak'thul and whatever cutiepie he takes as his wife (the women cannot resist the BOC) hold the reins, and thus the power of this loose country, which consists of a small tribe of ogres, and poorly trained yet decently big people who can be conscripted in a time of grave peril. Most power comes from the rest of the world knowing if they kill off this country, there won't be such tasty food.
>Wealth
There is much wealth, but it is concentrated in the hands of the ogre ruling class, but that doesn't matter for the people - they prefer the simple life.
>Culture
Peaceful, pretty girls, silly boyz, festival and craft-focused culture, get drunk a lot, are hard to make angry, national bird is a very fat COOKED turkey.

From now on we are going to have to roll before doing anything that requires effort, such as bargaining, attacking with magic or other, running away, and there will be a certain number we have to roll to be successful. Every 10 points above or below that roll is a degree of success though 100s and 1s are crits and will be much worse or better.

Also, we can now level up, we can do this in three ways
1) training, you can train skill(s) for up to three points a day, this will take up the entire day and give you three points to add to the skill(s) you trained. So this doesn't become training quest you cannot train for more than three days in a row and it is frowned upon (though I will not stop you) to train for six days a week. Training also has to be reasonable as one cannot train fellowship if there is no one to argue, convince, ect.
2)criting, any crits will give +5 to whatever skill critted on.
3)major accomplishments, whenever I feel we've done something major (like saving or destroying a people or major character) I will allocate 10 points to add to whatever skills we wish.

Spring rain makes the concrete wet.

You are ID-KY!A, student at American Academy #417. You're sitting on the slightly damp steps in the warm sun of an April afternoon, waiting for your boyfriend to show up.

He makes your heart skip a little whenever you see him and is the most exciting thing in your life right now. Not even your recent vocational assignment to electrical engineering is as exciting as he is when he holds you close.

Right now he's running late for some reason. Probably extra laps at track practice...

I don't know whether 10 or mode 8 would be better, but I do think it has to be all one or all the other. I'm going with 10.

I agree with this. if people start welling at us flare nanites with a little bit of a "back off" warning. It combined with our gift and whatever we used the boon on should work/be fun

Could we get the Tibbit things again. I was there for a few days awhile ago but no responses.

You had been masquerading as a citizen of the Grandy Duchy of Karelia in the city of Kendor for a few decades when you were called to the join the great convocation at the coven's lair, including a few Elder Vampires and dozens of midranking vampires, in addition to their followers of regular vampires and thralls.
You narrowly survived the vampire hunters raid on the lair, the coven's cult being run out of the cities cathedral finally uncovered for the front it was....
While only a midranked vampire less than 80 years old, you are the only vampire of rank in the crypt during the raid on coven's great convocation, managing to slay all the elders and other vampires of rank...
You gather the handful or surviving vampires and a group of thralls and make your way through the crypts to the outskirts of the city in to the dead marches....

What did you do in the coven?

A. Turned Knight- Once an honorable and brave knight, you were nearly slain by the Coven, but impressed by your fighting skills, they decided to turn you instead. You served the coven as the Captain of the City guard, training guards and scheduling patrols around planned feedings, making sure your brethren are never caught in the act. As a elite tactician and fighter of noble birth, you are an expert in many forms of fighting and horsemanship, you come equipped with a sword, lance, shield and heavy mail armor(bonus to combat, leadership and training rolls)
B. Arcanist- You were once a promising young scholar at the University of Karelia, you draw the attention of an ambitious Elder vampire. You have studied and trained to be a specialist in understanding the world, both magical and mundane, studying many areas and skilled in creating and enchanting artifacts(bonus to magic research and tech rolls)
C. Blood mage- In your previous life, you were a holy man, publically known for your extreme piety and charisma, privately known for your great desire for the pleasures of the flesh, eventually running into a powerful vampire. Impressed by your ability to manipulate people you were turned, following your master for a time, learning some of the vampiric arts before forging your own path. You have mastered the arts of blood magic and the vampiric arts, including draining the lifeforce of other beings, enthrallment and mind control(can cast magic in certain situations, bonus to diplomacy)

You take a look around. There's a few shops full of scrimshaw trinkets and whatnot... you could always just watch the ships for a few hours.
Or there's the place over there where you can gamble magic items.
"This place sucks." Ash says.
"Well, there isn't much to do in a northern fishing town. Occupation isn't helping, either. If all else fails, we could go to the black market and probably get into a fight."

Well, I've decided to give running a quest a go. Let's get a feel for things and see if I'm cut out for it, shall we?

The setting is based on /tg/'s bug world they made a while back. Not sure yet how closely I'll stick to it. But if you're not familiar, don't worry about it.
The world is inhabited by bugs. From Beetles to Bees, Crabs to Cicadas, Bugkind has found a way to etch out a living in every corner of the wide, magical, and perpetually dangerous world.

As always, the circumstances of your birth played a very large part in determining the paths you will take and the kind of person you will shape up to be. What sort of family were you born into?

Even more limbs.

And are you aquatic, or terrestrial?

(Even if you pick aquatic, we will be starting the adventure proper on land.)

You decide to call Kokonoe with an intervention ars.

"Kokonoe... you there?" you ask.

"Huh? Yeah. I've been listening in on everything," she responds.

"So... got any plans?" you request.

"Just wait..." she comments.

"Okay; there's a clinic in Orient Town. It belongs to Dr. Litchi–she was that Chinese woman who ran off with Terumi. A former student of mine."

"Here's hoping she doesn't have any qualms with us staying there again..." Ragna mutters.

"So, what is it you're planning on doing there?" you ask.

"Briefing everyone on the mission plan from here on... giving Ragna another prosthetic with a new Idea Engine... and making some adjustments," she answers.

After a few hours' worth of walking, you finally get there.

>"Anyone home?"

You grow weary of all the waiting, resolving to kick the door in.

"Serpent's Infernal Rapture!" you scream, recalling the name for said technique through a conveniently-resurfacing memory.

"You could've just knocked, y'know," Noel comments.

"Sorry about that, but I figured this was the most time-efficient way, and it's not like we'll be staying here for long."

You hear footsteps echo throughout the clinic.

A pink-furred beastkin woman wearing glasses and lab attire enters the atrium.

"The door was unlocked, you know," Kokonoe adds.

>"Still worth it."
>"Sorry for having disturbed you."
>"Well, it doesn't make any difference now."
