“Everyone, everyone, I want to make an announcement.” All the team members gather around as Griselda stands atop her tank. It’s relatively early in the morning, so you don’t really mind per say. “Here’s the deal. The tournament’s almost over. And we got a pretty good ticket waiting for us to get us into the postseason!” That causes a short applause and some cheers from Naval Studies Rescue. “But. That also does the mean school year is approaching. And while it has been an amazing summer, getting to know all of you, getting to see the kind of people you are, there are changes we have to make. One of them being… well, we can’t sleep in the hangar anymore.”

“Eh?” Everyone murmurs in confusion.

“And secondly… Well, we do have to share the hangar with the ITL team,” says Griselda. “And obviously, there isn’t enough room for all of the tanks for both teams. So… some tanks are gonna have to be set outside under tarps. I want to cut the chase this morning because I’d rather get this over with. We’ll move some of the bigger tanks outside for now. Until then, I’ll try to keep everyone updated, okay? Okay.”

That causes quite a stir amongst the team the minute Griselda leaves. Serafina says, “Our tank is pretty big, we’re moving it outside? That’s absurd!”

“It’s just a tank,” says Serina. “It can handle some bad weather. Unlike our motorcycles.”

“Still!” Regina folds her arms, huffing. “This is tough! I’d rather we just build a new hangar for us!”

“It means we have to go back to our dorms too,” says Iris.

Oh, your dorms. Right, right. You actually haven’t been back to your dorm with Winona in forever. Man. You hope that place is still clean. That’s going to be a trip back for sure.

Still. What should you do now?

In times since past, when the Earth was still in its infancy magic roamed free and wild, but as the Earth got older the magic began to fade further and further from the world. By the times the advanced primates now known as humans came into being magic was scarce and only the most in-tune could even hope to wield the smallest fraction of power. And by the time they achieved civilization magic had faded into myth and legend, but the time would come when magic would burst back into the world.
In the year 2xxx a mining team had struck a pocket of raw magic and released back into the world. This caused a chain reaction and magic pockets scattered throughout the Earths crust began to explode and release tons of magic back onto Earth. Many nations were wiped out in the resulting explosion and civilization saw a collapse for a time.
But not all was lost, as governments fell new ones took their place and new races began to spread through the world, such as the satyrs, centaurs, and other wildfolk, the twisted and gnarled elves, the cunning orcs and goblins, and many many more.

In the pacific ocean an island country of Japan weathered the storm, literally! A great vortex took the island and plunged its people into chaos. Hundreds of years passed and new factions have risen and fallen in the years, but in the year of 3xxx the great vortex had once again appeared and brought Japan back with it. The vortex would never appear again. Despite common belief that the island would be empty ruined with buildings of a former country the people of Japan didn't just survive they adapted. It besides Britain and China are the last technological civilizations in the world, but during its time in the vortex the people, the land, and the beasts that inhabit it.
One such beast is the Bushperson. The Bushpeople don't reproduce; instead, they steal others and turn them into more Bushpeople. It is not quite known how they accomplish this, but the result is undeniable: their numbers and their kidnappings have grown exponentially. You are one such Bushperson, stolen from your home along with another of your kind.

A loud banging awakes you. One of your captors is harassing the other bushling that was captured with you. The captor is loudly banging on the bars of the cage with one of his stunning sticks while spitting some sort of brown liquid into the cage. Another captor sits on a crate a little ways away from the other.

"And there's plenty' more where that came from!" the captor shouts, taking another swig from the brown bottle in his other hand.

The bushling is soaked in the liquid and distressing creaks are coming from it. You attempt to break open the bars, the captor notices.

"Oh it's a feisty one innit'?" the captor says to the other.

He then begins to spit the liquid into your cage and bang on your bars. More creaks are coming from the bushling bringing back the captors attention to it. He resumes his taunting and you can only watch. This goes on for hours and you drift back off into sleep.

Fire is the first thing you see when you awake. A large hole is in the side of the craft transporting you and it seems to be falling. Fire has engulfed the room and the other bushling is burning, you sense no life coming from it. With tremendous force the craft slams into the ground tearing itself to shreds in the impact, your cage breaks on impact and you are thrown into the nearby woodland and smash into a tree. You don't blackout, but you are heavily wounded. The craft is still crashing and it has left a large gash in the landscape, trees are beginning to catch fire and shards of metal are flying everywhere. A trail of green sludge trails behind as you begin to limp into the forest.

The tree sap flows from the open gash in the bark and you begin rubbing the sap on any broken parts of your body. The wounds stick together and begin to mend. This forest is different, more wild then that of your old home. A new colony must be made if you are to survive here.

Welcome back to the search for true happiness.

As the ship sailed carefully along the rock formation, the silhouette became clearer and clearer. Even from the back of the boat, you could see the shadow of a mermaid. Beautiful songs you've never heard of before we're emanating from her presence.

"Ey, that's a real nice catch ya found! Ya mind if I claim this bounty for myself?" Johnny begs.

Long before in your journeys, when you weren't as rich and experienced, you expected things such as these would bring at least some pleasure into your life.

"Eh... I'm not interested into those kinds of stuff any more..." You say, but the whole scenario gives off an ominous feeling.

You eye the shadowy soon to mistress, noticing the odd movements she makes. Not long after, you can see that there are many smaller shadows nearby. You can see their every move, noticing how they're starting to get closer to the boat.

You look back to Johnny, realizing that he already started running towards the Siren.

Should you:

Three years ago, the warrior race known as the Saiyans were annexed into Emperor Freeza's armies. Since that day, the Saiyans have acted as the emperor's loyal servents, sent first onto dozens of worlds, exterminating all who oppose Lord Freeza's rule. As mighty conquerors, destroying all who have stood against them, the Saiyans quickly made a name for themselves as some of Freeza's most powerful and loyal subjects.

Welcome to Saiyan Conqueror Quest, currently Age 734 of the "main" timeline. You the players will be able to influence events throughout the Dragonball/Z timeline and possibly change the course of history, depending on your choices and the will of the dice.

Leyas, Brawler, 6301
Meloka, Blaster, 6237

Nappa, Brawler, 7000
Android, Pilot, n/a

Last time on Saiyan Conqueror Quest:
On route to Kvir's moon to rescue Nappa, you learned the Energy Sword from Meloka after some teasing/flirting, then developed your own finishing technique, the Piercing Fist Mk II. Upon arriving, you meet up with Nappa and battle the giant machine that killed his squad. After it nearly kills Meloka, Leyas, and Nappa, Karn snapped and flew into a murderous rage, destroying the machine single-handedly. You and Tatsu carry your injured teammates away as it explodes and look for a safe haven to recover. After being ambushed by smaller machine men you end up back at the machine's corpse, using its' insides as cover. The next day, your somewhat recovered group assaults the Greys' fortress. Destroying the horde of robots with ease, your group comes under fire from the Greys' saucers. After everyone has taken significant damage, Tatsu throws up a Power Ball and you all transform into mighty Oozaru. Destroying the ships quickly, your group was then engaged by a powerful lone machine man. Matching the power of your Oozaru forms, you eventually catch and crush, then obliterate your foe with an Oozaru-sized serving of Energy Fist. After reverting and resting, you discover a lone ship and become its' Captain, and leave Kvir's moon far behind. Now, after two months in space, you're almost back to Freeza Planet 79.

Sitting in the copilot chair besides your mechanical pilot, you watch Freeza Planet 79 come into view. As your ship begins entering atmosphere, an all too familiar voice comes through the comms, "This is Freeza Force airspace. Turn back now or be destroyed."
"Commander Cui, this is Karn, returning from our mission on Kvir's moon. We have Nappa with us as well."
"Wait, Karn?" Cui's confusion apparent. "Shit I thought you guys were dead for sure. You just cost me 50 credits."
"I'm glad you have so much faith in us, commander." Meloka says satcastically, strolling up into the cockpit. "We missed you too."
You hear Cui mumble something about "damn monkeys," then, "None of the usual platforms can hold that ship, take it towards the cargo bay near the base of the tower. After that I'll need both you Karn and Nappa present for a briefing. Zarbon himself is stopping by, getting a progress report together for Lord Freeza on the war with the Greys."
"Wait, Zarbon?" you ask Cui. "Zarbon himself is coming here?"
"He's already on his way, will be here in four months." Cui tells you. "Until then you all are to stay here on-base. Also, there are some new recruits from Planet Vegeta, to replace the general's losses. They'll be called shortly. Dismissed."
With that, Cui's comm goes out. Following a station worker through the sky, your ship is led to the station's cargo bay where you park it and kill the engines.
"Do not let anyone else onboard the ship." you tell your pilot. "Remain here and keep the ship spaceflight ready."

++Captains Log 24/06/2185++
++Comet Chaser: Folly of Midas++
++Jupiter Mining Corp, Comet Capture Expedition++

We’ve been tracking the Comet Aquarion for about a month now. Long range scans show the comet is mostly made of ice, at least on the surface. Nothing unusual about that. I’m just hoping that once we intercept the rock and perform a more through geological survey we’ll find something more exotic beneath the surface. Water sells well enough but It’s not worth grabbing the damn thing and hauling it home unless it’s got some hydro carbon deposits at the very least. Here’s hoping for Helium-3, though I doubt I’d get that lucky.

As of 0800 the crew have begun prepping for the survey operation. Engineering reports the core drill is ready and none of our exo-suits are experiencing any debilitating faults. To be honest it’s a miracle that all of them are mission ready. Ever since the corporation started construction of their enormous mining flagship with that silly hydrogen scope our maintenance budget can barely cover the cost of new duct tape…

You are Captain Kusajishi Riku, and you've been sorting out a possible conspiracy centered around the secretive Kasumiōji clan and its purported weapons development programs. The current line of thinking is that they paid off one of the Central 46 guards to steal one of the zanpakuto resting out in the entryway while you, Head Captain Kyōraku, and Lisa Yadōmaru were in a meeting before the Seireitei's governing body. It makes a certain amount of sense, as the Kasumiōji could no doubt benefit from acquiring any of the blades that were briefly stolen: Tenkotsuki for her exposure to shinreiryoku, Kobara no Tachi for being forged from a Captain's inner hollow, Katen Kyōkotsu for being one of only two stable twin zanpakuto currently in existence, and Hagurotonbo for belonging to a vizard.

The Kasumiōji are also, as you've recently learned, the subject of a long-term investigation by the Onmitsukidō.

“So these are the current batch of Lieutenants?” Lisa asks as you step through the Ninth Division's front gates. You can't quite see them yet, but this close you can easily feel their reiatsu as they train.

“Yeah,” you nod sternly. “Hey, listen... there's just one thing you should know. Don't... mention Shiba Kaien.”

“That was the guy who Captain Ukitake wanted to tap for Lieutenant of Thirteenth Division, wasn't it?” Lisa recalls. “Why?”

“He went missing years ago,” you explain, “presumed dead. His wife Miyako filled in for a while, and she only just accepted the position permanently.”

“She was holding off? What changed her mind?”

You try not to wince but fail, just perceptibly. “The force that had been sustaining Captain Uktiake's life is absent now... his body gave out almost immediately. Miyako's all Thirteenth has left.”

“She's coping, but it's still a sore point. Being constantly reminded isn't good for the healing process.”

“I... wow,” Lisa muses, almost at a loss for words. “Thanks for the warning.”

“Other than that, they're a mixed bag,” you continue. “Second Division's Omaeda is only a few weeks into the job. Abarai, Kira, and Hinamori have only been shinigami for a few decades.”

“What happened to Ichimaru?” she asks.

“Became a Captain,” you nod. “A long time ago. There's nobody at the rank you'd recognize anymore except Lieutenant Ise.”

“Ah, so Nanao made good?” Lisa muses happily. “Knew that girl had it in her. Who's her Captain?”

“Shunsui,” you inform her.

Lisa's smile instantly becomes a scowl. “That bastard...”

“Hey, she's the only person I've seen who can actually handle him,” you shrug. “Partly because he listens to her.”

“Captain!” Renji calls as he parries Wabisuke and kicks Kira onto his back. Then he notices Lisa and frowns. “So who's this?”

“Cocky punk,” Lisa grumbles, adjusting her half-frame glasses, “isn't he?”

“Lisa Yadōmaru, pleased to meetcha.”

So here you are. Standing before a levitating... voodoo priest? You're going with voodoo priest. You’re tempted to make a break for the exit but something tells you that’d be futile. Like the door being locked from the outside or it simply slamming in your face the second you get close. The black man levitating before you seems to be very knowledgeable of who you are, and was waiting for you it seems. The silence between you two is palpable, only ever broken by the occasional ‘flapping’ sound of his cloak in whatever ethereal wind blows it.

“…well?”

He speaks, as if expecting something from you.

“I’m sorry?” You respond confused.

“It’s just that usually when I appear from the mists of the Loa, people tend to have more of a… reaction, I suppose.”

“Oh, well… sorry, I guess. It’s just that, I’m kind of desensitized to the whole super-hero thing. I mean, I saw Doctor Strange incinerate a ten story rock monster once, and MODOK crashed into my house once...”

“Indeed, I was there for one of those occasions.”

A few more seconds of silence pass before you speak again, “I’m here about this letter?”

“Yes, as I am the one who sent it. I summoned you here about an item that has recently come into your possession. One I understand you retrieved from a deserted island in the Bermuda Triangle.”

“I assume you mean the book?”

“You assume correctly. May I see it?”

You don’t know if you should trust this guy… I mean yeah, he hasn’t done anything too unsavory but… he did just appear from some kind of weird purple mist that he said “Loa” were involved in. If you remember correctly, Loa were some kind of Haitian voodoo spirits… can you trust this guy?

>Decide to trust him, and take the book from your pocket. It’s shrunk now, what could he possibly do with it?

This quest takes place in an alternate version of 1881, events may happen ahead of time or not at all.
The location will also be fictional.

The year is 1881, bandits, natives, lawmen, gunslingers and more run all over the newly developing landscape and do whatever they can to hold onto power in the violent and shifting west. You sit on the rough wooden seat in the carriage as the driver takes you down this dusty path in Texas. You peek out the door window and find yourself staring at cacti and dry brush, the occasional patch of trees offers refuge from the blazing Texan sun the heat leads you to worry about Teddy, your horse. You've been traveling for weeks now to your new job, Sheriff of Happy Creek.

You look over the papers in your saddle bags you insisted on keeping close, your prior qualifications may have tipped the scales in your way for this since you worked as.

Sorry about being dead anons, I've just been taking a break for a while, and now I'm back to this.

We're playing a human/half dark elf civ, which has just encountered the Dwarves. Our first ruler is currently dying of third degree burns, and the successor, her uncle, is currently being a wise badass by seeking vassalization with the dwarves, which has just gone underway.

You have recently set up shelter for your tribe of forty. You yourself, Balgruff have gotten a bit of a nickname...

Balgruff is now known as Balgruff the Coward.

Balgruff's authority has been reduced from 50 to 30.

The loyalty towards Balgruff is very low.
So long as you have the dwarf guard here, you have little to no way for a direct coup to happen to you.

Balgruff is indifferent towards this, but is somewhat worried about his personal safety.

Do anons want to deal with this before we go back to Danhe's Sister dealing with the animals?

You decide to take care of this nickname.

Choose how to deal with this.

Balgruff is a bit of a pacfist, and will refuse to attack humanoids, and will only do so in self defense.

>Seek some monster to defeat... (The hardest thing to do, but with the most rewards, and if successfully, will even level Balgruff up!)
>Seek to prove your bravery? (The tribe itself will judge a suitable task... May range from impossible, to easy.)
>...Venture out on yet another adventure to seek out new lands and other tribes... (You'll go into Explorer mode. This isn't too risky, provided you don't get attacked by bears.)

You are Marcus Painel, the troubled son of the late assassin Lucien Painel, dead by your own hands at ten. At the age of eighteen, you have already loved and lost, and the blood of dozens stains your hands a crimson red of retribution. But a chance meeting at the brink of death has found you as the bodyguard to Princess Ellana Crowmond, youngest of the royal family of the Aderaveth Empire. Inducted to her service as her Crownguard, you have sworn to keep her safe from harm by whatever means necessary…

In the last thread, you uncovered proof of Lady Sofia Rudnick’s infidelity and all but secured the evidence necessary for Klara Mazur to bring to her father. And after reviewing the history of the Empire, you sit in court, where Prince Allanus Crowmond deduces enemy behind the crisis of the Alchemists’ Guild: the Faceless One, the Master of Masks, Warlock of Envy and one of Seven Apprentices to the Crimson Tyrant...

Klara and Patrik dissolved the meeting moments after the prince made his declaration. Everyone was shaken, and you can’t exactly blame them. A living legend from the darkest period of the Empire’s history, one of the Crimson Tyrant’s apprentices in Blood Magic…but to you, it is only one of many enemies that threaten the life of your charge.

There’s only a handful of people in a good mood, and almost everyone’s eager for Lords Mazur and Pullman to return in a few hours. Especially Klara, you note before departing from the hall. Royce seemed to be in a hurry to escort his lady back to his chambers, out of a genuine worry for her safety as opposed to some carnal rendezvous. The alchemists mingle at the door, huddling among themselves in private, urgent conference.

Allanus and Urath remain sequestered in a little corner of the Great Hall, whispering to themselves in a hushed undertone. Their lips are moving too fast for you to make out anything. With that said, the concern is visible on their faces, though Urath’s has a darker undertone.

But, you digress. The debacle has left you with a seemingly free afternoon until the lords of Alnerwich and the Pullman Vale. You need to take care of your own business, and said business just happens to be the continued protection of Ellana, in addition to her sister. Until Bellatrix returns, you suppose that it’s only fair that you help keep the elder princess in your field of vision in the knightess’ stead, especially with a Warlock on the loose.

“It’s a terrible shame, really. I was hoping that we could go into town.” Adrianna offers a wan smile as you come to collect her and Ellana. “For the horrible smell of the fish and neigh-stagnant water, staying trapped within the fortress is quite maddening.”

Your lip twitches in the ghost of an amused grin. “Necessary sacrifices, I’m afraid. Even with both mine and Archer’s skills, we would be hard-pressed to fight a Warlock, let alone find the Master of Masks in a crowded river city.”

Even if the old tales were prone to exaggeration, a realistic view still offers no comfort. Is this the same Warlock of Envy that stood at the side of Aedric? Or is this a usurper of the mantle, or an inheritor who wields power equal to the original? And the faces, the dozens of faces he would collect in all those campfire stories, tavern tales to scare the half-drunk or skittish. Now, the face of Silvera and the four acolytes had been added to that ghoulish collection.

Was the castle already compromised? Perhaps one of the servants, stepping out into the city on errand for the Mazurs, was in fact the Warlock in disguise. Lying in wait, bidding their time for the opportunity to strike…

You shake your head. Paranoia is an old companion, one that you keep on a tight leash lest it overwhelm you. Just as nothing good ever comes from blood magic, nothing good would ever come from dwelling too long on it. Soon enough, you’d run your thoughts in an endless loop of anxiety and unchecked suspicion.

“The fortress is the safest place,” You continue, gesturing towards the side exit. “But if you desire fresh air, the courtyard is open, as well as the eastern ramparts. Both are defensible and hard-pressed for our friend to enter without notice. And if he’s stupid enough to try…then we’ll be ready.”

Even as Ellana’s face brightens at the prospect of going outside, her sister regards you with a private amusement. “Not even Bellatrix would go into the finer details of fortress design. You sound very much like Ser Palme whenever he gets into one of his moods.”

…you decide to take that as a compliment. “I would think,” You answer carefully, “That given the oath I swore and the gravity of the situation, the smallest pinch of paranoia and caution is justified-”

“Ah…p-pardon me, Ser C-Crownguard?”

Three heads swivel in the direction of the voice. Standing in the shadow of an overhanging pillar, Claudia HIdegard offers the three of you a small curtsy before approaching. The color’s returned to her cheeks, and she no longer looks like the nervous wreck Patrik nearly reduced her to. Silvera’s daughter is hesitant, but no more than one would be in the presence of high royalty.

“I…I just wanted to thank you,” She continues, bowing low in your direction, “F-for stepping in when you did. I was…so caught in the heat of the moment that I…lost control when Lord Mazur began to insult my father...”

The poor girl is rambling. She mustn't be too used to this kind of interaction, especially with those several degrees higher than her station.

>“Anything for a friend, Claudia.” [Express familiarity.]
>“It was the right thing to do.” [Hide your familiarity.]
>“You’ll have to thank milady as well.” [Deflect to Ellana.]

You look around the obviously dilapidated room, and wonder what happened. You don't remember anything that lead up to this point.
...Come to think of it, you can't remember anything period. No knowledge of who you are, where you came from, what to do, nothing comes to your mind. It's actually rather depressing, but you don't have time to think about that. Maybe later. For now, you look around at your situation right now.

You're in a container and it looks like some sort of fluid was drained half-heartedly, considering there's some sort of fluid that is up to your knees. The container seems to be almost entirely made out of glass, but the celling and floor are made out of what you think is steel.. There's cords that drape down from the celling and are attached to your limbs, torso, and a place where cords really shouldn't go. You raise up your arms to stretch, and all the tubes suddenly detach with a "HISSS", revealing small nodes where they came off. Freaky.

Okay. First thing's first. You definitely need to get out of here, and you're not really sure how. Maybe....

>The glass can move somehow!
>The top can be forced off!
>Why are you trying to get out? Someone has to be here. They'll hopefully let you out!

>The top can be forced off!

Ah, of course! Why didn't you try that before? Forcing the top off...Of course this container was built like that!

Putting your hands on the ceiling, you apply a little force. Hmm....It's not really moving all too well. Maybe a little bit more for-

"CRUUUNCH"

Huh. You've managed to somehow bury your hands into the ceiling, and there's sparks falling all around you. This might be a little bit of a problem...

With a little bit of effort, and a lot more force, the top of the container, along with a few large chunks of glass, is off now. You think of what to do next, when all of a sudden...

"AHHHHH!!!" You hear the screams and you look forwards, seeing a child standing there, a small teddy bear laying at her feet. You think she dropped it when she saw you. You can't tell from her expression, but you think she may be happy? Or maybe terrified? One of the two. She's staring at you with her mouth wide open and her arms to the side, eyes wider than....well something wide.

All of a sudden, she points at you and starts slowly walking towards the container you're in.
"Y-y-y-y-y-you...you broke it....you're awake....what the...."

Wew

‘Can’t believe we went this long without cleaning this plane. No wonder Claire is always struggling with her allergies when she comes over.

Still, I’m sure we’d already be done with the cleaning if the engineers helped instead of working on their weird pet project. A battle wagon? Sounds stupid to me. How are they even going to move the damn thing, by pushing it around?

Oh yeah, I received a letter from my father this morning! Mr. Garrick is on his way and should be here this soon. So… this means it will be my last week as your Captain. We had a good run, right? [She smiles] I’m kinda glad it’s over to be honest. I mean, you guys need a real commander on the field, not a glorified bookkeeper. And Mr. Garrick is a real hero! He’s been my father’s right hand man for years! My sisters and I grew up hearing his stories, you wouldn’t believe what’s he’s been through.

Once he’s here we’ll win every battle, you’ll see!

It's impossible to kill a person with your eyes. Fiction. Can't be done. Seems obvious, doesn't it? Shouldn't even need to be stated because it's so ridiculous. It just doesn't work that way. Not even for witches!

For just one moment today though, I wasn't so sure about that. But now I know with absolute certainty. Because if it was possible, both Mistress and Camille would be lying on that floor there right now, stone dead. They're not though. Even standing on the sidelines, watching the exchange of looks between the two of them was one of the scariest things I've ever seen.

I'm pretty sure I'm the one who made that exchange happen too. Thankfully they seemed to be too preoccupied with each other to realize that and kept focusing entirely on each other. It's not like I did much anyway. Really, all I did was suggest that maybe they should go together. After all, this is kind of a dangerous mission what with the whole werewolf thing. Sure, for now they're just supposed to place the bait for it, but that doesn't mean it's safe so surely it would be better if they both went. But that was all it took, just one little suggestion and they both turned ice cold.

It's difficult to say who won, because not a single word was spoken, not even when they finally stopped staring each other in the eye and Camille finally went off, alone. Whether that was what she wanted or what Mistress wanted, the one thing I know for sure is that what I wanted clearly didn't matter in the end. I really wish they would've gone together though, for more than one reason. Now I'm all alone with Mistress and there is no escape.

On the brighter side of things, I finally found the first bit of family resemblance between these two. For a mother and daughter though, you'd think they'd both be a lot nicer to each other. I suppose I can understand though, since aside from being Mistress' daughter she must have also been her apprentice until not very long ago. And being Mistress' apprentice lately has definitely made me kind of annoyed with her.

And I'm pretty sure she's quite annoyed with me too.

For the moment, Mistress does not speak or even show me any regard at all. She's just staring out into the main room of the church. I try to avoid thinking about what's out there though, or looking in the general direction of it. It being the coffin with the recently deceased Baroness. But why would Mistress care so much? Did she know her or something?

Either way, that distraction isn't going to last. Mistress knows that I sort-of-borrowed-without-asking one of her broom. For flying practice, just being a good student! And I needed it to get into the church without being seen! Perfectly reasonable! But I doubt she's going to see it that way. There will definitely be trouble to be had, unless I do something about it. And I don't want to be punished again!

But what should I do?

I could just try apologizing before she can even get started. I don't really know if I think it was wrong of me to borrow-without-permission that broom, after all I was just doing what I had to and there was no time to try to find her. Or at least, not much time... Either way, at the very least an apology might lessen the blow?

Or I could go on the offensive instead. I made a ton of progress practising today and maybe if I show her that she'll realize that I totally knew what I was doing, regardless of what the scars on my arms and legs might say, and it was completely responsible and that she should actually be impressed instead of angry! That definitely sounds good in my head!

Or maybe I can try to avoid it altogether? Find something else to talk about? Definitely not Camille though. There's no way she wants to talk about her right now. No way. Maybe the obvious thing is to ask her what she thinks about the Baroness being dead. It seems to bother her, and I still don't know what to think about it myself either, so that might be nice?

With Mistress it's never easy though. Any of those could end up making her really angry or impressed. I really have no idea.

>Pre-emptive apology! If you know you can't win the fight you may as well surrender before it blows up.
>Show her my progress! Surelly she'll be impressed with my initiative and realize I was just being a good witch apprentice! Right?
>Try to distract her by asking about the Baroness and Death and stuff like that. I only have to stall for time until Camille comes back, I can do that!
