The world of the living, it hasn't been my home for awhile but I still enjoy being here, if only because it means I can practice my skills in actual battle here. And it has a different sort of beauty than the soul society, a much more mundane feeling. Or it would, If I wasn't given the job of escorting a few barely trained students from the academy today. There's four of them, and I think they were too scared of me to introduce themselves, so I don't know their names yet. Not that I was in a talkative mood and said anything besides what I needed to. I haven't been getting enough sleep lately after aizen's notes and studies on me were stolen and especially last night since Aya needed to tell me about how she saved a family of pluses from a hollow on her own...all night. I mean its not like I'm not used to fighting without any sleep but...its weighing on me, just the stress of it and the paranoia that's been creeping into my mind ever since that day.

I sigh, resting my zanpakuto on my shoulders as I watch the last of my "students" of the day walking into the world of the living, my mind still in other places. The other two are taking it about as well as I am, even if they aren't showing it. Aizen is panicked and still searching for clues on who did it, and Yoru is...well she's much more serious than she usually is around me which tells me all I need to know

"Kimi?" Kaname asks, suddenly at my side with the trainees he's escorting "I didn't know you were leading a field lesson as well, oh this is a welcome surprise"

"Oh, hey Kaname" I say dully, as he tilts his head his mask covering his expression "and yes it is, hope misfortune doesn't find you or your charges"

"You know her?" a girl with short black hair asks him

"She is my idol" Kaname says without a hint of shame "and dear friend, I owe her much...but you sound...sad kimi, that isn't like you. Usually when something is bothering you you get....angry"

Additional Captain’s log

Technically, we are still on our shakedown cruise. But at present, Ensign Humphrey is dead, and Doctor Ocett should be performing the autopsy as I speak. Humphrey was part of a volunteer crew working on the Bajoran ship the Wealth of Dahkur, and despite there being no initial sign of wrongdoing Ensigns don't typically drop dead at random. I've ordered all crew on shore leave to stay in groups, for now. Advice my own First Officer gave me, personally, and which I ignored. I expect he'll bring it up, at some point. Or maybe he will consider this demonstration of the risks involved in our duty to Starfleet enough.

I did not wait for Captain Hir-Bulat's permission before ordering Humphrey's body beamed to our own sickbay. As a Captain, I'm sure she'll understand that I'm much more comfortable with my own Doctor looking after my crew, no matter how green or Cardassian he might be. Though I suspect Doctor Ocett has seen more corpses than the average doctor.

No Captain takes the death of a crewmember lightly. This isn't my first time, but this is different than during time of war, or with an accident. It's the uncertainty of it. We'll have to get to the bottom of this.

The sickbay of the Archimedes looks as slick as the rest of the ship. Fresh, new, and barely used. All the beds are empty, and you and your crew are clustered around the surgical table, on which the body of Ensign Humphrey is laid out. Dr. Mekor Ocett is present, naturally, still in surgical scrubs. There are also First Officer Dorian Wolf, Tactical Officer J’Tal, and Science Officer Ahnassi.

“We’ve got a bit of a medical mystery on our hands.” Dr. Ocett says. He pulls up a scan of the Ensign’s brain. You’re a bit spotty on your medical knowledge, but the dark void in the middle of the man’s brain is a telltale sign of brain damage. “Cause of death was a massive stroke, starting in the brainstem and radiating upwards and outwards. Minor bruising on the knees, arms, and face confirm that Ensign Humphrey was standing when the stroke occurred. The Ensign’s medical records show a minor genetic disposition towards strokes, but he was a good two decades shy of the typical age of onset. Besides, he had the defect corrected as a child, and no case I could find in the database ever exhibited such massive damage. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say a microcharge went off in his head.”

“Are you familiar with such cases?” J’Tal asks.

“I’ve seen it. Once.” Ocett looks mildly uncomfortable. “But those things do most of their damage with oldfashioned shrapnel. Even if you’d surgically transport every last shard out, the signs would be obvious. In this case, it looks like every bloodvessel simply… burst.”

Wolf nods, briefly glances at you, and speaks. “Is there anything that could cause this, as it happened with Ensign Humphrey?”

“In theory any sufficient amount of force could cause damage like this. The brain is a delicate organ. A normal stroke is nothing more than high pressure and weak plumbing. The question I can’t answer is what kind of force it was and how it was applied.”

“I can think of a few ways.” Ahnassi says. “Transporter tricks, phased particles. But they are all intricate procedures...”

“And if this was an attack, it almost assuredly was not premeditated.” J’Tal says. “The Ensign had not been on DS9 before, as far as I can tell there aren’t any people he knows onboard, and we did not plan to lay over.”

“I think we know enough to know we should investigate further.” You say. “And I have enough to bring back to Hir-Bulat. Once I’m done with her, we should have access to the Wealth of Dahkur. In the meantime...”

"Ah finally things are going somewhat well. Got the food taken care of and the pirates distracted."

"How does monster fishing work anyway?"

"Like ordinary fishing except more fighting."

"Are the missile launchers really necessary?"

"Clearly you never been monster fis-oh fuck what the hell happened? Didn't those guys go out with a proper ship? Why the fuck is there only a single shuttle left," cursed one of the pirates after seeing a clearly heavily damaged shuttling landing(crashing).

Shortly after some pirates pull themselves off the ship cheering.

"WOOOH NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL A PROPER FUCKING MONSTER HUNT!"

"What the hell happened to you guys? How the fuck did you lose your ship?"

"Well this ere monster hunt...is the real fucking deal. Holy shit you should of seen how many of those big bastards there were! I swear it was as if they knew we were coming and prepared! Holy shit it was like that space monster hunt in the Octuris system all over again. Except more water!"

"...Wow that insane?"

"Hell yeah what you still haven't gotten the feeds up?"

"Had to build them by scratch so it takes some tim- holy shit," begins a pirate tek before stopping as a badly wounded pirate ship arises from the deeps with monsters crudely strapped on.

"...Wait isn't that super bad ass elite pirate's personal ship? You know the crazy fuck who took on an entire defense station on their lonesome? How the fuck..."

Suddenly the ship halted over the 'vip' section and proceeded to spew out many wounded pirates and a laughing heroic pirate.

"HAHAHAHAH I love me a proper monster hunt but goddamn I had NO idea it was going to be that fucking good! I seen entire schools of monsters who looked like a space krakens bigger, meaner, pissed off cousins that fucked a shark crab."

"Oh it even managed to impress you? How unexpected that even you a super pirate would vouch for the hunt..."

"You got NO idea how fucking insane it is out there. I mean fuck me if i knew the hunt was going to be this fucking good I would I brought out my favorite guns and ships! Oh hold up there you TEKKIE FUCK I NEED TO USE YOUR COMMS! Gotta call for my other ships and gear to be delivered! Current one can't take another trip down there..."

"Uh...Captain our ship is sorta...sinking."

"Oh what the hell I told you idiots to land on some proper fucking rock. No wait its...tipping over. Fuck should of checked those bindin-*CRASH*. Ah...too much weight on one side over the other. Nothing that can't be fixed now where is that damned comm set..."

"Mh...fresh barbecued monster to feast on all the booze and drugs to enjo-OOH THEY GOTTA THE VIDS UP!"

Sure enough you could see some hologram projectors sputter to life and start broadcasting their show...that was in truth one chaotic huge war zone made up of pirates, their ships, and monsters along with much bigger monsters fighting it out. It was practically a direct feed to warzone. Even you ended up gaping.

Meanwhile somewhere in the colony a cult was holding a meeting.

"GREETINGS MY FELLOW CULTIST TODAY IS GOING TO BE A GRAND DAY, starts the cult leader before his followers. "For today we can meet without worry thanks to the pirates and celebrations! More importantly I have gotten word from our beloved lord! We have at LONG last found a worthy sacrifice that fits within the high standards of or dearest god! Now what we need to do is arrange for a kidnapping and prepare for the ceremon-"

"UH leader...isn't that the girl who got kidnapped by those pirates and hunted down by that eldritch abomination!"

"Yeah thats her all right. All in the middle of the monster elimination!"

"Uh...wait WHAT?"

"Yeah I work in the militia and we all heard about it."

"Yeah me too and that's her all right...uh you feeling okay chief?"

"FFUUU-it took ages to find somehow who fit in this goddamned colony! You any idea how fucking hard it is to find a chaste woman in the military? Fuck me even in the goddamn religious boonies I wasn't finding shit...ah well nevermind then. In that case onto our second order of business! Last time we heard of that trespasser so have we identified what it is and who its with?"

"Well we thought it might be some pirate cultists but we never found any signs of them being up to anything. Which means it might be another cult in the colony..."

"I think it might be an independent event. Our Caller who went on a long walk talked about some very unusual findings..."

"Ah yes of course our Great Lord wouldn't be the only one to see some value in this worl-wait a second don't tell me its those other cultists cunts."

Well this is certainly an interesting turn of events.
1) Observe our bots
2) Triangulate where they were hacked from with the assistance of our friend and anyone else with any know how

In the meantime we mingle with the Crowd, get to know people, get the big Hunters to like us because of our work get them on side and such, maybe find some specialists or heroes to aid us in what comes next

What comes next
A) We find who hacked us and stole our stock, we go knocking with all the back up from our new friends we can.
B) We're still at a loss so we bring in some new friends to aid us in finding where the bots dropped off to and so on then go with Point A

Manager maybe put a tracker in some of our supplies, mark them so we can track them. If they don't know we're onto them they might not be aware.

A particularly long drag of his cig sends another smoke cloud into the room, “Kid, I know so many stories I wouldn’t know where to begin. So, let’s start small”

If it was all her own doing, you wouldn't hesitate to deal with Hebiki Naoto in the most expedient manner possible.

Well, you would, you just probably wouldn't feel as bad when she forced the issue.

With the spirit-child friendly restaurant near the top of one of the more expensive malls in Shibuya cleared out by the diners, only you, Er Yin-sensei, and Kiku-chan remain. Except for one other spirit child. Hebiki Rishi Is struggling under the vice-like grip of Akari-niji-chan's elder sister (actual elder sister, not merely clan-related!). Not struggling to escape, but to maintain her tenuous grip on her poise. A second of weakness, or the tiniest threat, and Nabiki will kill her and then turn on you....and anyone else nearby.

It isn't merely that she's a cruel and wicked person – she is both, you are more than pretty certain – but that her wani-infused blood makes her prone to berserk fits of rage. Akari has the same traits, and relies on you to help her control herself when she might do something dangerous. To others, not herself, of course. And naturally, because the universe must conspire to make your life difficult at any time you are thoroughly enjoying yourself, Naoto-onee-san just happens to be the same kind of elemental force as Akari: Stone.

Some ten feet away, Naoto has her nails driven into Rishi's shoulder, and Rishi's blood is staining her jacket; the normally chcolate eyes of the elder dragonette are jet black, her wani nature almost entirely in control, and you suspect that Oba-san is behind this particular bit of nastiness. Not that it took much, because Water eyes showed you the kind of person Naoto really is. Mostly a control freak who likes being in control and in charge. You took a good portion of that away from her when you immediately accepted her clan's offer to foster Rishi-chan with yours for training purposes. Whether or not she's a spy, plant, or trap....she's more of a dykish sort than a trappish short....cute, but hot tempered, like your favorite Fire Dragonette....smart though. Easily embarrassed and definitely in need of training....

While Kiku-chan's offer to train her hasn't quite gotten through the enraged dragonette's head, Er Yin's wariness about letting the thoroughly predatory woman approach any closer has paid off. She can't make a sudden and overwhelming assault without discarding Rishi, but you're pretty certain if she loses it, she's going to kill Rishi, then try and eat you. Probably alive and screaming. Her teeth are unnaturally sharp, even for a dragonette, and your own element is weak to hers. You just need her to let go of Rishi for an instant, and Kiki-chan could save her. Or she could try and escape herself, but you honestly don't trust her skills that far. Still, with the open air dining, all she really needs is to hurl herself over the retaining wall; she may not be able to fly with her shoulder injured, but she could still use her wings to glide.

Er Yin remains alert, steady, one hand on your shoulder, but tail high and swaying slowly. She might be able to help Naoto, but both she and Kiku are in agreement with you: Rishi comes first. Now, whether or not Naoto survives that....that is a much different and much trickier matter.

General Rules:
When: Aiming to post every Wednesday

10 min voting period after each main post. Write-ins votes are welcomed/encouraged. Votes that are non-contradictory and add to the narrative will be considered. Think 'Rule of Cool'

Combat mechanics/skill test will be done using best three of first five rolls of 1d100, unless otherwise specified. Modifiers may come into play depending on the MC's statistics which can improve odds and vice versa as the QM sees fit. The QM will do their best to inform players of when such modifiers will come up during votes. (Example: Aiming at a target at long range with a scattershot weapon will require a higher roll to make a successful hit than say a normal blaster weapon).

Interacting/training with other bots and successful missions can add to your overall abilities. Strong character relationships with your comrades can also benefit the MC as it will improve battle synergy and moral (less likely to want to fall back/retreat). Of course the vice versa can come into play as well. A failed mission may have consequences but result in unforeseen outcomes (Show ex, Tarantulus, Black Arachnia, & Quickstrike were supposed to secure an energon post. The Maximals interfered, resulting in the loss of the post BUT Tarantulus gained a new lair.).

Also keep an eye out at your energon build up levels; too much time in robot mode outside of a structure, such as a base can cause negative impacts on your combat maneuvers/skill test, including potential loss of spark. In the event of loss of spark, pending the results of a vote, a time lapse in the narrative will happen and a new stasis pod will fall. (Roll for new character or with a high relation level, a blank protoform will descend and your allies will reignite your spark)

Slag, that’s not a good sign. While the stasis pod has its own basic landing procedures and start up program, you can influence its processes. What would like to prioritize first?

>Pod, scan for Cybertonian signatures (will land closer to one of the two bases – influence to starting faction)
>Pod, activate distress beacon (Maximal and Predacon scanners will detect your landing and will actively try to reach your pod. Chance for potential reprogramming by Predacons and high chance for combat after activation, regardless of which side.)
>Pod, focus on landing, prioritize safe zones (list of landscapes will be given and voted on. MC can land in remote areas)
>Pod, begin accessing protoform base programming (will influence beast mode selection)
>The pod’s programming knows what to do. I’ll let it handle it for the moment being. (Dice rolls for landing zone, who’s feeling lucky?)

QM Reminder: Originally all the stasis pods on board the Axalon were Maximals, but there were a few ‘bad eggs’ in the mix (Rampage, Quickstrike – who chose to side with the Predacons due to his own programming/beast modes). Additionally Questers will influence the overall personality of the Main Character ex. An honorable, team player Predacon or a duplicitous Maximal is possible.

You sit behind the wheel of your van, the guns held tightly by steel racks rattle slightly as you barrel through the streets of New York.

Looking through the constant drizzle of rain the world can seem distorted and wavy, and for years you saw through that filter rain or shine. But then you got woken up.

You woke up to the smell of copper and burning brass casings from the enemy instead of coffee and bacon from the wife. You grip the steering wheel tightly, the brief moments of clarity granted by the rapidly swishing wipers allowing you to see the dim dying sky through the breas in the clouds. Maybe it's an attitude thing but the skies always seem cloudy and dark now, you sigh and begin to slow when you see a figure lurking in an alley take a step forward and walk towards your car.

The kid's green, you can already see the pistol bulging under his loose waistband. You reach for the sawn off you keep in a holster on the side of your seat. This is what you need, a little way to blow off steam.

Whoever you were once that person is gone now, all that remains is The Punisher. You are a boogeyman to criminals, the most hardened gangbangers and crime bosses look for you pver their shoulders. You may be the Punisher now, but you were someone else once.

You are James Baker, a wild card according to the strange man known as Igor. Over the past few days you have moved to the town of Birchland with your Great Uncle Carson and started school. You've started to learn more about the town and made a small number of friends. School quickly got weird as you learned of a rift leading to another world that you believe is tied to your own.

More worrying was during an assembly was the green smoke flowing from The Rift and the strange, impervious wooden door within. Students and teachers at your school have begun acting stereotypical and forming cliques. The cause of people acting like caricatures was Shadows ripping something out of copies in The Rift.

With the Chief Shadow of the mountain village taken care of you got out of there before more Shadows found you. After a talk with the group Ms. Brown said she would work harder to work together with everyone, but insisted on going by her real name, Trish. Now you are in the southern swamp and making a plan on how to deal with the strange Shadow that seems to be leading the second village.

You motion for the others to calm down, "We can trust Zoey on this, so let's just relax."

Martin shakes his head, "How can you be calm? That Shadow might be following after us with a whole group with them."

"Do you think we would have this much time to talk if they were following us?" Zoey asks.

Trish and Martin both visibly calm down, but Trish keeps pacing around your small clearing. "I still don't like the fact this Shadow noticed us," Trish says as she does another lap.

"Maybe we can use that. If the Shadow didn't attack us right away that might mean it can be lured out to talk with us, then we attack it."

"How would we lure it out though, make a sign?" Martin asks, starting to browse his phone.

Zoey throws out a suggestion, "We could just motion for it to follow us, seems like a thrill seeker."

There has to be something that will make the Shadow leave on it's own. But you can't risk drawing the attention of other Shadows too.

You are lying on your back, your eyes shut. It’s a bit chilly; you feel goosebumps. It’s odd. Your body doesn’t respond to your commands to move. You hear someone ask you a question, a woman by the sound of it. The voice is familiar, but you cannot quite place where you’ve heard it before. It asks, “Are you sure about this, Jack?” She pauses. “Once you start, you won’t be able to stop until someone else frees you, or…” the woman trails off.

“If I wasn’t sure, I wouldn’t have gotten this far,” you hear yourself reply confidently. You don’t recall trying to say that though; it was as if your body moved on its own, like you were a mere observer in your own body. You add, “Besides, it’s not like I can afford to splice, so this is my best shot.” After a few moments, you say, “Way I see it, I die no matter what. In here, I have a chance, and if I die, well, I’m not in any worse position than out there. It just happens a tad sooner.”

“Very well…” You hear the woman take a deep breath. “Goodbye, Jack,” she whispers. You hear a hissing noise as something fills the space you are in. It kind of burns as it fills your airways and lungs. You find yourself struggling to breath as unconsciousness overtakes you.



Your eyelids flutter open, and you find yourself staring at the roof of the ship’s sleeping quarters. You flex your fingers and raise your arms experimentally. Alright. You’re in control again. What was that? A dream? A memory…? You shake your head. You can think on that later. You decide to recount your current situation to separate dream from reality.

You are Jack, the last of a seemingly extinct kind known as the Earless, whom went missing for as of now unknown reasons. Though your ears are what you would consider normal, everyone else here has animal ears and a tail of some sort on their otherwise human bodies. You’ve seen men and women with cat, dog, bear, rabbit, and many other animal features. You’ve been residing on a ship these past few weeks and rebuilding the muscles that atrophied during your centuries-long hibernation. The world appears flooded but is definitely the Earth you know. Some technology from your era seems to still function but not without a fair amount of issues. The people here speak a language you do not understand, but you’ve met those who speak your language, English, thankfully.

You stand up from your bed and stretch. Alright. That’s your situation. You recall finding a computer with Marissa, a mouse-girl, yesterday and a brief spat with Amber, a doggirl you know with something against the Earless. They’re both people you might consider friends. Who should you see?
