Welcome to Do Your Best Quest. This is an anything can happen pointless quest, where you, the player, will dictate the actions and decisions of our main character in a modern setting with supernatural elements. Our character will do anything you guys say. Have fun!:

You’re below average, nothing about you stands out; millions live in the same city as you under a not very cruel dictatorship, so nobody should expect something from you… But try your best! Maybe there could be some kind of payoff in the end.

Now you’re supposed to be dreaming, but something feels off. You find yourself surrounded by darkness; you hear a voice in the distance.

“Hey, kid, want superpowers?” a distorted voice asks you. You point at yourself to make sure he’s not mistaken. “Yeah, you kid, who else?”

“I’m not sure… Wait, what’s the catch?” You say in your monotone tone.

“You’ll have to help me in my struggle. It could cost you everything. Even your life!” You can’t see him, but you’re sure he’s smiling.

“I don’t like where this is going.” You say at loud.

“It’s better than what you have going on with your life right now.”

“…” He has a point; you’re below average at your studies, forgettable and skinny.

The vacant glare of oblivion looms above the physical plane.

The end of all is upon you.

In the wake of life's triviality you were beckoned to hedonistic violence and preceded to use a steel bat to cave in the skulls of three vacant minds.

The looming apocalypse and the murder of a long time friend both failed to elicit any feelinging you.

Once the blood of your victims stained the concrete a black mist emerged from the corpses.
Upon inhaling the black mist, emotions began to stir in you and manifested in a feeling of Blitz.

You're not totally sure what it is how it work,
but you do know it gives you the ability to manifest the power of your bat bashing a skull into objects within range,

but only if you have the bat.

You are currently engaged in combat with a woman with similar abilities, but instead of manifesting a Bash, she attacks by manifesting a Slice.

Your arm was Sliced off but you were able to keep it attached somewhat by using your Blitz.

You're not totally sure how how your Blitz ability works.

but realize that much like you, she no longer uses her physical senses.

So you simply Manifest a Bash in her stomach,
blowing her entrails out of her abdomen in a bright flash of visceral colours.

A sharp pain erupts from your chest as you look down and see a spear blooming from your stomach. As you hear the shouts of those around you, you begin to fade from consciousness. What will happen to your friends? Your family? Your country? All the unfinished tasks you left for another day?

It seems that, in the end, you will never get to know.

As the black begins to take envelop you in its cold grasp, the last of the light winks out, along with the memories of who you were. All that is left is the knowledge that you ARE. Nothing else, just the undefined and empty shell of an identity waiting to be made. You drift in the dark, the void, for an unknowable period of time before a faint glow begins to strengthen into a near blinding light. Somewhere from without a voice grates and pierces into your being.

"Welcome to the world."

Hello everyone! After having been on the board for a few months and heartily enjoying many of the quests that others have made, I decided to try my hand at creating one myself. This will be a collective decision quest, with board voting for the actions of the PC.

Please keep in mind that this quest can and eventually will kill the PC, be it by bad decisions or the end of the life span of the PC's body. But fret not, as that does not mean the end of the quest. You will simply be born once more into whatever world it happens to be. You will not, however, retain any experience from your previous lives, or knowledge from any other world.

OH SHIT NIGGER(s) it's an adventure about killing vampires n shit.

3 vampire hunters, 1 little girl and a robutt, is going to infiltrate a vampire castle to kill the head vampire there for casting a spell than kept the world at perpetual night time.

While on the Vampires' side there's Bob the Vampbeast given the mission to stop these hunters.

The hunters are now currently back at the hunter outpost in the castle's clocktower, and now must decide on what to buy for upgrades.

Each character needs at least 1 player to be the voices in their head to tell them what to do n' shit.

Just name yourself something with the highlighted title under the character to identify which team you're going with. Example: Regular Hunter Faggot -> Controls Oswell the regular Hunter

Need at least 1 player for each dude, DOESN'T mean each character is limited to 1 player.

The more players each character has, the more rerolls that team gets.

Sup cunts, welcome to Avatar Quest

You’re the successor to Avatar Korra about 60 years after Book 4. The world’s spent the last couple of decades in a gripping Cold War between the United Earth Republic (More commonly referred to as the UER) a coalition of Earth Kingdom states, including Ba Sing Se as it’s capital, and the Fire Nation and it’s growing cabinet of allied Earth States. The Northern Water tribe has sided with the Fire Nation and the Southern with the UER, with the Air Nation and Republic City remaining neutral for now. Enter you, the Sandbending Avatar, who’s been tasked with bringing balance to this world, mastering all four elements and the Avatar State and being the second in a new cycle of Avatars.

Mechanically it’ll be pretty similar to most quests. Rolls will be decided by the best of three 1d100 rolls. You’ll usually just be beating a set DC, but in the event of some fights you will be rolling against me.

Write-ins, criticism, suggestions and everything in between are not only welcomed, they’re allowed.

We’ll start off with 20 minute time limits for votes, longer if it’s particularly contentious. I’m not married to any of these rules so if we find something that works better we’ll change.

Something’s wrong though; the sand dunes are moving and crashing into each other like waves, and pass underneath your feet like ripples. The night sky is inundated with constellations and stars, bright beacons illuminating a small area around you. You see movement in the darkness in front of you and a shadow descends on you, gripping tight around your arms and bringing you to the ground as a roaring flame passes just above you. The shadow melts as it rests on you, oozing and disappearing into the grains of sand beneath you. You slowly pull yourself to your feet, to find yourself surrounded by a wall of orange flame that shrinks closer and closer. You lift your arms to protect yourself, as a torrent of water rockets up from beneath you. The fire doesn’t stop however, and the water hisses as it tries to shield you from the heat. Steam surrounds you and intense heat scorches your entire body. Your vision goes blurry, your head droops and you collapse into the sand as the steam envelops you.

You jolt awake before slumping back down and letting out an exasperated moan. You’ve been having weird dreams lately, but not since Bayar gave you that cactus juice he swore was water have you had one that.. intense. Well, whatever. You look at the alarm clock, 12:00PM flashing bright red. Ugh. You’d better get up. You stretch out, yawning like a lazy tigerlizard on a hot day, your legs hanging far out of the bed. The bed’s been yours since you moved here at ten, and it’s gotten uncomfortably small just over six years later.
Throwing your legs over the side, you walk to the window and throw back the curtains and watch the sleepy Korung Village, dusty but well-kept with mud and clay houses designed for cool temperatures in severe heat. It’s gotten bigger the last couple of years, and more and more merchants decorate the busy streets each blurring the fine line between negotiation and harassment as people go about their lives. The few cars in the village rest outside some of the larger homes and businesses, something of a rarity.

You see a large crowd of people crowded around Meng’s grocery store, one of the few places with a working television. You hesitantly make your way down the stairs into the kitchen, the nagging hunger in your stomach the only force capable of dragging your plodding feet.

Your auntie stands at the counter, nimbly dicing a pile of vegetables for the chickabbits. Her tiny frame barely brings her hands level with the bench and her dark brown hair is held up by a bandanna, bangs framing her hardened, sun-worn face. Without lifting her head from her work, she greets you “Well, good afternoon you lazy bum. You’re lucky I let you sleep in you know, you better knock this off before school goes back young man.” She looks up sternly at your sympathetic expression and smiles, saying “Your uncle and Bayar are out on the sand-sailer, some drifter got into your Uncle’s head about some UER junk that got left out some ways away, so they won’t be back for another couple of hours. You’ll have to entertain yourself ‘til then”

You’ve got the next couple of hours to just explore the village and kill time, what do you want to do?

It is the Year of Our Lord 1120. You are Victor Reis, a Knight-Captain of the Order of Brothers of the German House of Saint Mary in Frankfurt (The Teutonic Order.) You had come to the Holy Land after a request for aid from your brothers in the newly-formed Templar order, and traveled with them to a mountain pass Northeast of Acre, and joining a Saracen horde in battle there, suddenly found yourself in another world, along with your Teuton brothers and Templar allies. After an ordeal that involved Elves, the Wilde Jaege, and even more Elves, you finally made your way back to the warcamp, that was transferred to the world as well.

Taking in the situation, you make a snap decision. Pointing to a random knight, you say, "Gather the rest, and find a way up the hill, to take them from behind. We shall stay behind, to delay them. Understood?"

Nodding sharply, the knight salutes you, and wheels his horse around, galloping towards the rest of the battlefield.

Taking a breath, you raise your sword and shout. "Dismount!"

Slamming your helm's visor shut, you leap from your horse, keeping a tight grip on your sword and shield. Landing alongside your brethren, beside Kathrin, and followed by Edgar, who bears your banner, you stare at the Legion soldiers, who look down at you nervously, clearly unnerved after what you did to their comrades. They are surely about to break soon, you just need to press them.

Striding forward evenly, even over the rocky terrain, you get your shield ready, and bark out a single order in German, a language that these men before you have likely never heard before. "Advance!"

You're about halfway up the hill, when you see the Legionnaires readying for a pilum throw, so you get low, and raise your shield, making sure that you're a smaller target.

"Get down!" Your men, with training and discipline, borne of years of training and field experience, follow your order immediately, and just in time, too, as the majority of the spears fly over their heads, and those that don't, clatter against the rocks near them and glance off their shields, poorly-maintained bronze heads bending, breaking, or simply bouncing off, dull.

Standing up, you advance quickly, moving at a fast clip, hoping to engage the Century before it throws its pilum again. Swinging your sword as a command, the rest of the knights follow, their swords shining crimson in the afternoon sun, covered in the blood of Legion troops.

Breaking into a run as you get closer to the shield wall, you slam into the tower shield, managing to dent it while knocking the Legionnaire down, acting as a steel-plated human battering ram.

Simply stabbing him in the face, you raise your shield to deflect several blows from the gladius, and step back, eyeing the situation. You now have a chink in the front line's armor, a vulnerable point. It won't be too long before they take measures to fix this, either.

Slashing at the soldiers experimentally, you gauge their reactions, and seeing an opening, you take the chance, lunging forward, and stabbing the soldier in the armpit, where the bronze armor doesn't cover, and their guard was lowered. You receive a strike on your shoulder for your trouble, but your steel plate protects you from the worst of it.

Kathrin, however, has your back, and she chops off the offending soldier's hand, and while he's stunned, shoves aside his tower shield, stabbing him in the gut. Even Edgar is getting his blows in, guarding your left flank, just as Kathrin does your right.

The battle is most certainly in your favor, but the Legionnaires are showing odd resolve for conscripts. You're surprised that they haven't begun to flee by now.

In this quest you assume the role of an aspiring student who is about to enter the Mageknight Academy. You must hone your skills, make some friends (and perhaps also some enemies) and fight battles in order to prove yourself worthy of graduating as a fully fledged Mageknight! Each year (every 100th turn) your character will be tested by the academy to see if your character is progressing well and meeting the Academy's high standards. After the 3rd year your character will head off into a their first mission for a final test.

How to Join:
New players must fill out their character sheets. The sheet must include the following information:
>Anyone can join at any time. Latecomers and laggers are given bonus action points to catch up with the other players.
1) Your character's full name
2) Your character's backstory, appearance and any other useful information.
3) You are given 3 Skill Points. Choose 1 starting spell and 2 other skills or spells.

How to Play:
1) Each turn you will be given 2 [Action Points]. Post your character sheet and your chosen actions along with a 2d100 roll.
>Normally your roll must pass the [Difficulty Challenge] of 25 in order to succeed.
>Getting a 10 and below is a [Critical Failure] while 91 and above is a [Critical Success]
2) All players must wait for the "TURN GO" post before submitting any actions posts. After which you must post your actions only to that post.
3) After all actions are processed and a new turn begins, update your character sheet.

Acquiring and Improving Spells & Skills:
1) Study, research, explore, train or take classes to discover and learn new spells.
2) Training an already learned spell or skill will raise it further to the next tier once enough [Progress Points] are accumulated.
4) The progress threshold is based on the Fibonacci sequence (1,2,3,5,8,...)
>Usually Spell and Skill tiers are named as Basic => Intermediate => Advanced => Expert => Master
>Alternatively you can label the tiers as T1, T2, T3 and so on.
>Passing the 1st year exams unlock Tier 6 to 10; 2nd year exams unlock Tier 11 to 15
>Progress threshold needed for the 6th tier and above becomes a stable 10 points.

Spellcrafting:
Spellcrafting involves fusing spells with various skills, knowledge and even other spells that your character has learned together creating a new spell or skill.
>The name of the resulting new spell will be determined by the QM. By default it will be "Cast A B C..."
>Your dice roll will affect the result of the spellcrafting. Lower rolls will result in weaker or negative version of the intended spell and vice versa.

Social Interactions:
1) Role playing with other players is a free action. Role playing with NPCs, however, will cost an action point to do so.
2) Collaborative Player-to-Player actions like trading, tutoring and PvP, will cost an action point to do so.

Combat:
1) The battle starts with an initiative roll by each player. This tells the order of the actions of each player in the round. The initiative roll also resets every round and a new initiative roll will be needed every turn
2)The next phase is the attack, where the player with the highest initiative roll gets the chance to take an attack action. The player he attacks can also take a reaction and attempt to block, dodge or even counter attack with a spell or skill.
3)To land an attack, the attack roll must be higher than the defense roll. After landing a hit, The damage is calculated with relevant skills and traits using a 1d(1+ modifiers) roll.
4)This continues as everyone gets a chance to attack, resetting the round and this will be done until a player gets downed.

Warm orange light flickered across the tucked away enclosure, just barely escaping the hastily constructed dugout that housed your tiny campfire. It was well into the night now, and while the weather was mild enough that you didn't need a fire, the light it cast was a boon all the same. At your behest, Elly had begun to look Ari over almost immediately after the fire had been struck, necessitating the softly breathing Testament be cracked open from her sap-adhered ball for a closer inspection.

Tim had taken to tending the fire with a tense smile, keeping a watchful eye on the woods as you waited for Elly's verdict. He made little effort to hide the way he flinched at the sounds of the forest at night, and while you were more concerned about the Luna Delegate stumbling upon your group in a misguided attempt to 'help' you, the encounter he had with the golem that had been fending for Ari was clearly still fresh in his mind.

You had taken the distraction caused by said wooden golem as an opportunity to make a hasty departure from the Luna Delegate, and in the process managed to finally be reunited with your missing Testament... Though you admit that had you not been previously familiar with the creature, your first instinct likely would have been to set it on fire as well. The fact that it was still lurking obediently in the canopy above your camp was another issue you would need to broach when you found the opportunity, but until then, it keeping guard served to fill you with every inch the relief it caused Tim in distress.

Which was fortunate, because with everything you had learned, you can't imagine you would have been any use had your attentions been scattered any further by the sort of anxiety gripping your companion.

The Luna Delegate had come as a subjugation force, fully resolved to put everyone at the Shrine of Dryad to death in order to quarantine some nebulous 'contamination' passed from Dryad into its faithful. It was a course of action that was little more than an amputation, and more depressingly, one that had been issued a sanction by the Shrine as a whole... And as you had reluctantly suspected, they had confirmed that your involvement was critical towards its success.

No... That wasn't quite right. Your involvement was just the most convenient outcome; What they needed wasn't you, but your late sister's bracelet.

You had treasured it as a keepsake of your sister, but the mystery surrounding it seemed content to only grow deeper and more confusing. The Delegate had theorized that it had the capability of commanding apparitions... Or, more outrageously, perhaps even the potential to compel the Mana themselves. It was this possibility that they had hinged their entire plan on, in the hopes that you could somehow lull Dryad into slumber.

Given that you had only ever used it to cause extensive property damage and deeply seated psychological scars, this plan did not fill you with any sort of confidence.

"I've done what I can, though it isn't very much." Elly interrupted your thoughts with a soft murmur, "I think she'll be fine. Probably."

"...Probably?" You echo back the diagnosis, perhaps more harshly than you meant to considering the reflexive recoil from your Dryad Representative. "What's wrong with her?"

Your eyes drifted shut as you sighed. A healer, or some kind of Wisp adept would have been better suited for what you had asked Elly to do, but you didn't have either on hand. "As long as she'll be okay for now." You mutter in resignation.

You had Ari back, and the Fae had promised to return your missing knights as well. With this, you had everything you had come out to retrieve; There wasn't any point in staying out here any longer. In fact, the sooner you could get Ari back to Carona and have a proper healer look her over, the better... Which meant it was time to leave.

Yet there in lay the problem.

You didn't fully understand where you were, much less how you could leave. Signs pointed tentatively towards the entire construct being similar to an Atelier, but that only spun more questions into the fray.

If it was an Atelier, then where was its Guardian? What was the meaning behind it all? And who did it belong to? The path to Solving an Atelier was in coming to understand its creator, and the burdens that they couldn't leave behind. It was a feat of empathy, above all... And if you couldn't recognize the feelings that wove through it all, then only rejection awaited you.

But even then, if by some fluke you did manage to Solve it... Would it matter? Solving the Ice Queen's Atelier hadn't magically opened some exit for you. The Atelier remained as it always had, it simply accepted your presence and stopped trying to freeze you to into its halls. In the worst case scenario, a failed attempt at Solving may force you into a confrontation with its Guardian.

"We need to return to the Shrine and warn the others." Elly piped up quietly, careful not to accidentally rouse Ari... Though she had admitted to be unsure why she wasn't waking in the first place. "Maybe one of the others will be able to help this girl, and at the very least she could use a bath."

"Hmn. Well we got what we came out here for, didn't we?" He glanced at Ari, and then to you questioningly. "If Irue's done out here, then you'll get no complaints from me." Tim shared your general distrust for the Luna Delegate, and you knew as much... Though you doubted Elly realized those unspoken sentiments were an implicit approval for any plan which didn't involve going back to them.

Or... Was that right? He had been helping you get away from them, but he had nothing personal against them other than the fact that you distrusted them. If anything, rather than share in your doubt, he seemed to simply take his lead from your judgement and trust you had good reasons.

"I pray my brother is still well." Elly let out a small sigh, curling her knees into her chest to serve as a chin rest. "Dryad, please look after him..."

The Viola has been loaded in secrecy onto a cargo train heading for the heart of Von Braun City, so you're currently lying flat in your seat awaiting word that you've arrived at the nearest stop to the target building. Under the same oversized tarp are three borrowed service vehicles with Marine fireteams, each ready to burn rubber the second you order it.

“You're two stations out from target,” Rossweisse tells you. “ALICE, update their navigational display with the target grid information.”

“Aye, ma'am!” your support AI chirps as the monitors lining the inside of your cockpit begin to glow and come alive, and a series of lines snap into place: the outlines of buildings and roads in the area, projected onto the image of the underside of the tarp. “Data is available.”

“Thank you, ALICE, Rossweisse,” you reply quietly. “Please continue to monitor and record all frequencies.”

You can sense that your Marine accompaniment is itching to get into action, a low-level anxious need to just have it over with.

We're approaching the stop.
