Short quest to keep my writing juices flowing

We all know of Mossflower. Of Redwall Abbey and Salamandastron, of Martin the Warrior and the great badger lords. But this tale is not about any of that. For this tale takes place far to the north of Mossflower. There lies a stretch of land ruled by snow in the winter, and blessed with green during the short summer.

The land is called Whitenort by its inhabitants. Many years ago, gentlebeasts and vermin alike settled in this northern land, but they all found the weather unforgiving, and the lords of the land deadly. For Whitenort Forrest was home to the fierce Bonebeak kingdom, a clan of murderous and territorial crows. The gentlebeast and vermin of Whitenort lived in perpetual fear of the Bonebeak crows, until Vandal Bloodfur and his wildcat kin drove them back at the battle of Sullied Snow.

From that day forward Vandal and his line took on the task of protecting Whitenort from the sporadic raids of the Bonebeaks. With the help of the settlers of Whitenort, Vandal erected a castle known as Kirotr, and from there watched over the lands. Over time his sons adopted the role of rulers of Whitenort, and taxed the gentlebeasts food and craft in exchange for protection. The vermin were drafted into the Kirotr army.

Now the grandson of Vandal Bloodfur, Undred Bloodfur, rules Kirotr. There has not been a Bonebeak raid since his youth, and the Lord of Kirotr has many winters under his belt. He grooms his son and daughter, Fick and Lisinna, to rule after his passing. The Kirotr army has never been bigger, and threatens to overtax the gentlebeast families of Whitenort. To the northwest are the Snowhare tribes, reclusive but dangerous when provoked, and to the south lies the Rakka Tan Kingdom, a large collection of warrior squirrel clans that have always eyed the Bloodfurs with mistrust.

You are Blackfur, a black furred wildcat found by Undred and raised as his own. You are the commander of the Kirotr army, and you are hated by the other wildcat kin for being an outsider. Today you stand on the battlements, watching the sun rise over the crisp autumn day. The trees have already turned; winter is coming. There is much happening in preparation for the cold seasons. Soldiers are on patrol across the river, while others are collecting the food and craft tax from the farmbeasts and the river-folk. Still others lounge inside Castle Kirotr. As commander, you have many options.

>Go out with the soldiers on patrol
>Go out with the soldiers collecting taxes
>Explore around Kirotr

He gazes at your offer of nuka cola, before composing himself to a brotherhood salute. "I am Head Knight Cain of the Brotherhood of Steel, New Texas Chapter." he breaks off the salute then points to your offer.

A Ghoul. . .Knight. Of the Brotherhood of steel. Now you've seen everything.

"Nuka Cola? Oh fuck yes, gimme that shit."

He takes the drink and guzzles it down, it spils around the tears in his cheeks and lips but he doesn't seem to mind. You offer him some BoS rations.

"No fuck that shit. I've been eating that for decades if i have to see more fucking rations again I'll figure out how to puke. Got anything else?"

>You
[Got some brahmin jerky]

He almost swipes it out of your hand and devours it practically like a feral. When he finishes licking it off his fingers, he speaks.

"Guessing you've seen the green around? It's a long story. But the short of it is everyone is dead except me. Killed by goddamn cultists and those things of theirs."

"Technology. We had some technology. Mostly vault tec prototypes and a couple of new inventions the scribes cooked up. Don't know if any of that shit still exists.

Vault 39? We'd have to check the old computer databanks for that kind of info. Most of our efforts were directed on the Secret Vault than any other, until we blew it up that is."

You are the former United States Navy warship USS HOEL, now returned as a shipgirl and ready to kick Abyssal ass!

After a wild mission and an even wilder night, you found yourself paying a visit to the repair dock. Apparently, it was quickly being discovered that Dark Zone missions were causing additional wear and tear and fatigue to shipgirls venturing in to that dark place, which led the Admiral to advise mandatory repair dock visits for all members of any dark Zone recon team.

You had decided to get your required stay out of the way early, so you had quietly snuck out early in the morning for a quick dip.

However, you quickly found that you weren't the only one with the same idea. You saw Dorsetshire and Graf Spee were present. Not surprising. Graf was probably still here on an overnight stay, while Dorsie seemed like the type of shipgirl who'd wake up early no matter the situation.

Then again, you recall that Dorsie was on Bering Sea operations. Did she take some damage herself?

Either way, both shipgirls seemed to be docked at opposite ends of the pool. Again, you weren't too surprised. Having been on opposite sides during the War, you couldn't blame them for keeping their distance from each other, and they strictly kept their relationship professional. Then again, Dorsie sort of did strike you as a loner type.

For House & Dominion: Civil War: The Final Days (55)

You are Sonia Reynard, Viscount of Rioja and a member of House Jerik-Dremine. You and your House have gained power and prestige thanks to victories over the past few years. While still small numerically the other Houses of the greater Dominion have begun to take notice of your strength and influence.

The civil war that has consumed the Dominion seems to be drawing to a close. A cease fire between the Nasidum aligned Houses and those allied with the Ruling House is now in effect.

In the Centri Cluster House Bonrah has been occupied by you and your allies, while the once mighty House Nasidum is reeling from the loss of their most important shipyard. The home territories of House Xygen remain untouched but the same can not be said of their fleets. Vital elements off their military have been crippled or destroyed, though the cost to your side has also been high.

House Jerik-Dremine has survived the onslaught faced on their side of the galaxy, helping House Feron persevere in the process. From what you have heard it has been a desperate struggle and so far your House has not yet told you how heavy their losses were.

In South Reach the former pirate Warlords have begun to withdraw back to their territory, but many mercenaries and privateers on either side are still conducting skirmishing between minor Houses that haven’t yet agreed to the cease fire.

Some territories in South Reach, having lost their homeworlds in the Centri cluster to occupations by either side, have decided to break away from their former Houses. Your own leadership might have once worried of similar events but Winifred has reaffirmed her commitment to the House. The J-D South Reach territories were ready to accept refugees and fleets from the homeworlds if necessary until such time as the House could be fully restored.

Not all of the news is good. While things seem to be nearing a conclusion in some areas in others they are worsening.
House Kharbos has had a change of government and the recently deposed opposition has fled their capital, taking refuge in the territories nearer to J-D space. House Che'len seemed to be gearing up to take advantage of Kharbos weakened state, to potentially take back territory they'd lost early in the civil war.

That all changed when a combined fleet from both Houses crossed the border into Ruling House territory, headed straight for the capital. While they're not stopping to capture systems or establish forward bases to maintain their advance, smaller forces are conducting attacks on installations along the way.

Made up primarily of a mix of Dominion, Aries and Iratar hardware, the fleet seems to be fielding several new ship classes. Some are simply old Supers Che'len has finally finished upgrading, but others are far more worrying.
Iratar Milli class mobile docks, new Kharbos Bellerophon class heavy cruisers, and an Aries super heavy carrier are surprises but ones you'll get over.

A number of battlecruiser sized ships looking like a curved metallic shell are far more alien. Able to split apart into two halves, a ball of fusion plasma seems to be contained between them. It can then direct a beam of plasma from the sphere to hit targets. This is not Dominion or Faction technology, nor is is Neeran.

Alliance Intel believes the ship to be using an open type fusion reactor identical to one you saw used by terrorists attacking Rioja but scaled up. That attack was determined to be the work of the Kythera, a society theorized to be entirely composed of machines or AIs. They have advanced nanite tech far beyond what the Factions can produce.
It was considered dangerous enough that the Alliance removed nanite samples you had at Rioja rather than risk them falling into Nasidum hands. In hindsight that might have been a good thing.

You've done your part to warn Duke Ber'helum to the danger they could pose.

Between the intelligence reports and other warnings House Helios has decided to initiate AI War protocol across the entire Dominion. Vulnerable lines of communications are being cut and every available fleet within range is now rushing to aid the defense of the Dominion's Capital.

Even with the high bandwidth com relays going offline the capital's communications infrastructure is extensive. It was intended to be powerful enough for the leaders of every House to maintain ties with their homeworlds while visiting the capital. The current dynasty has rarely had the unity necessary to call for a mass gathering of the leaders of every House, but the option has been there. The hundreds of embassies alone would strain the com capacity of most worlds.
>>
Putting a few backup plans into motion you managed to contact Foss before communications were cut. The Mercenary leader will rush his Super Heavy to House Feron space where it will be outfitted with phased siege weaponry. It will take 10 days for them to arrive. With luck this whole thing will have been decided one way or another by then.

"Really? That's... unbelievably bad.
Think of how much people will be willing to pay us for the extra fire support! Yeah sure we'll get to House Feron space. Just make sure they know we're coming and are going to need those guns."

Additional emergency measures have been put into place regarding your family and RSS. Your financial portfolio is also protected with hard copies should the bank archives on Dremine be turned into giant inert blocks.

Baron Alexander Palaiologos will be joining the Ber'helum led force you are currently part of shortly before you reach the capital. With him is Forbearance and his entire fleet. You'll need the firepower of a big ship like that in the fighting about to take place.

"Alert, the following is an emergency transmission for all Dominion Houses and personnel.
AI War protocol is now in effect. All Houses are encouraged to follow AI War protocols for the protection of military and civilian infrastructure.
High bandwidth communications arrays have been disabled. Please restrict FTL communications to essential traffic only.
This message will repeat every 30 minutes."

Several of the more nervous officers and command staff aboard your new ship double check their sidearms. You'd guess one in ten have previously familiarised themselves with the hidden setting on their energy weapons before now. It would probably have been far less if not for your insistence that the House more actively train for its use. It was getting to the point where only handfuls of the old veterans even knew how to set their weapons for it properly.

People of your parent's generation didn't have ready access to powerful anti-tank weapons like the House now does. They were forced to improvise, putting phase rifles on AI war settings then overloading them to disable vehicles. Crews will need to be careful not to accidentally disable the ship with their small arms if you're boarded.

"Sir, Intel is getting reports of combat in Xygen space." Maybourne informs you.

"Figures. Did they break the cease fire?"

"No, they're actually recalling most of their front line fleets towards their core territories to repel an attack taking place there. Intel thinks someone is trying to take out their R&D labs."

That can't be a coincidence.

Ding-dong!

Ding-dong!

You are roused from your sleep by the sound of the ship’s bell ringing. You hop out of bed and adjust your still-oversized clothes. They did belong to Rags, a very large muscular man who possesses the ears and tail of a bear, after all. You never got around to getting new ones. After all, you’ve been at sea for most of the time since you’ve awoken from your centuries-long hibernation. You are Jack, the last of the Earless to your knowledge. That is to say, unlike everyone else you’ve seen in this time period, you are the only one who has human ears and lacks a tail. The others have the ears and tails of various animals, from cats to dogs to mice to foxes and more, and they’re quite real. You confirmed this yourself.

Before leaving the sleeping quarters for your food, you take a glance at yourself in the mirror. You are no longer the skeleton you were when you first woke up. You are slowly but surely rebuilding the muscle and fat you’d lost over the many years you’d lain unconscious. Yes, that training you’d started with Amber, a fiery aggressive doggirl, is really helping in rebuilding your body. Your first training session was maybe a week or two ago; you aren’t sure. The days at sea had sort of blended together, and you’d more or less fallen into a routine to bulk up as soon as possible. Though you are still a bit scrawny, your work has paid off, and your body is filling itself back out. At the very least, your stamina has improved, so you no longer require as frequent breaks between your exercises during training.

With that in mind, you make your way up to the main deck to see what all the bell ringing was about. Upon arriving at the top of the ship, you notice that it has stopped at a settlement. It is not an island like the last you arrived on. No, there are many independent small angular masses of “land”—pillars, really—upon which there are many Kemomimi and what seem to be homes and businesses of sorts connected by many sturdy bridges and ladders. You notice that some crew members are already disembarking.

Someone slaps you on the back. “Look familiar to ya?” a familiar voice asks. Turning your head, you notice it’s the captain. You quickly shake your head. “That so? Hmm… Maybe if ya get a closer look,” he replies. That’s a bit cryptic. You ask why he’s here. “I merely wanted to inform you that a lot of my crew likes to take a break on land on stops like this, and that applies to you as well. Provided you keep those covered of course,” he replies, gesturing to your ears and shrugging as he walks away. So, you’ve got an opportunity to leave the ship. Should you?

>Yeah. You deserve some alone time and want to explore.
>Yeah. Maybe you can take some people along.
>Nah. Building up strength is more important.
>Nah. You’d rather chat on the ship.

I have returned with a modified version, where there will be fewer teams so we can progress faster. All other mechanics should work the same as before.

Rules:
>Players create their own civ and assign the civ on a land
>Players can distribute population into multiple cities on their territory
>Two 'development' actions along with one regular action
>Development actions can develop magic, tech, or culture
>Regular actions are limited only by the people in your civ and money in your treasury. You can use them to build, explore, fight, etc.
>civs start with 1000 guys
>starting population income will be 100 per turn
>once a civ is picked, give names for civ, cities, culture, and who populates it. Just a sort of intro to the civ and what kind of culture it has. As a point of reference, progress is around Bronze Age tech, and you can have whatever knowledge is included there.
>everyone has a starting magic based on your pick of race
>everyone starts with housing and five farms total

Magic:
>magic has a price. Every research into magic you must sacrifice something (population, food, land, water, etc.). Amount that you sacrifice determines how powerful the magic will be. Eg. I sacrifice 20 people to learn fire magic, I can heat things up with touch. I sacrifice 2000 people to learn fire magic, I can shoot jets from my palms.
>every 'magic unit' will require a similar sacrifice, but of a much smaller scale. You will essentially need to purchase the research with a large sacrifice, and every magical unit with smaller units of that sacrifice.

Action Costs:
> Build Settlement (500 gold)
> Build Building (Barracks, Market, Mine, Temple, Watchtower, etc.) (250 gold)
> Explore (free)
> Build military unit (50 gold)
> Upgrade Building (50 gold per upgrade)
> Build road (variable)

Lets make things interesting this time. I want no human factions, it must be a fantasy race.

Player choice: If everyone selects a race from here, we will use the racial characteristics in game. You are free to be as creative with races as you can however.

Sample civ entry:
>Urtuph,
>Race - Trolls
>Capital – Hanrak (650)
>Villages - Thanwet (150), Korval (200)
>Culture – The trolls of the Island of Urtuph have had a hard life, clinging to subsistence on their inhospitable island. The north is a rocky wasteland, the centre barren hills with little but heather and grass. Winters are cold and the land is constantly swept by chill winds and currents from the north. Only in the south west, where the rest of the island provides a little shield, does the climate approach bearable, where a river runs that does not freeze in winter and trees grow in the swampy valleys.
>>
Constructive Criticism time

The reason the last one wasn't interesting is because it died out like 5 turns in. These things take time for people to grow into it. There aren't rush strategies and this isn't an RTS. Give it time. Consistency will take you further because a nation or civ in this is like having a character in an RPG. You're not going to love it instantly, but you'll like it more and more over time.

Secondly, 4 players is really low. If even 1 person stops playing it will throw off the entire dynamic so you'll either need to be prepared to introduce new people frequently. As for the races, I don't particularly understand what any of these stats are supposed to mean or how they relate at all to your in game actions. Do Orcs take a roll penalty to magic development or do they just get worse results? There's stats without any relation to how those stats play into anything.

I've played a lot of these and I want to see them succeed so I want to identify some of the traps I see early enough for you to fix them.
>>
ok, i will try it

> Race: Insects
> Capital: The Tomb: (700)
> Villiages: Brewic (200), Holmster (100)

Its nearly night by the time you reach the top of the mountain. You don't find Forcas but you do find a cave. The cave looks way darker than it should, even for it being night. You enter the cave, making a light to see and quickly come across Forcas who is sleeping by the ever of a fire. You feel tired and can talk to Forcas' in the morning so you also lay down and go to sleep on the dew covered ground. You wake up to Forcas shaking your shoulder.
"Rise and shine"
He hands you a stick skewered with some of the leaves of plants that you saw on your way up the mountain and a little bit of meat.

Welcome to the first testfire of Slayer Kaiju Attack! It's a game about hunters fighting monstrously sized creatures, and is completely a rip-off of monster hunter in many, many regards! Have you ever wanted to hunt monsters in a skirmish game? Ever wish you had a simple at first system on hand with an immense amount of depth and tech within it that not even the creator of the game thought was possible? Do you think the only decent tasting meal is made from prey you've hunted down and slain with your own two hands? Then look no further than Slayer Kaiju Attack!

Note: Slayer Kaiju Attack! was made and is operated by Fenster. Monster Hunter references, bad puns, subtle puns, and homages to other skirmishes include some facets of exposure you will receive while playing or viewing this game. Please make sure you've taken all prescription medications recommended to you by your doctor and to keep an epipen on hand in case of an episode caused by over-exposure. Thank you for your time.

Whoa, there, slugger! You don't have a weapon, a skillset, or even a face! Get yourself a few in the character generation sheet.

New Tribes Thread.

Last time we saw The Abbey Dwellers abandon their ideas of Zombie Christ ion favor of a more traditional view of god. Then The Forest Men managed to kill their very first demon. And while they were all at it, The Kings enslaved a neighboring tribe at The Ski Lodge on the mountain they're settled near.

This time around The Map has expanded to the first new section. The Kings have traveled north enough to stumble into new territory, that of The Dust Region. This land was once prosperous farm land that fed the local populace with its bounty, but after the bombs fell it was left abandon, and the layers of tilled dirt left sedentary and without water lead to the land drying up and forming into a new Dust Bowl area.

Expect Dust Storms in this region to be common, and sometimes they may even travel south far enough to burden the people of The Crater all the same.

Rules of play:
>Every Tribe needs at least one player.
>Every turn is a week in-game. Some things such as population growth may not reflect this for the sake of game mechanics.
>You need a name.
>Every turn you get two special actions, those may either be discovering a new technology, or developing a new cultural trait.
>You are allowed to have many normal actions such as building, scouting, combat, diplomacy, or most physical things and their success will depend on things such as available tech, and amount of population assigned to performing that action.

Damn, messed up on the whole title thing.
This is "Apocalypse Tribes Evo 2"

---

The Forest Men discover the secrets of Cog Working after some experimentation with the axles of broken down vehicles from The Scrapyard. Soon after they then develop mud bricks to assist in breaking down some of the metals they gather from these scrapped cars, meaning that they now have enough of a metal working infrastructure to start forging iron, though higher level metals such as steel with require even more workmanship on part of the forge workers.

The Tribesmen then go out to start a new outpost near The Southern Bridge, allowing them rather immediate access to The Scrap Yard, and a close trade relation with The Smileys of Wal whenever they pass by, which they do often on their way down into The South Facing Road into The Dead Forest.

The area around the strung up demon corpse seems to be fine at the moment, though the corpse has began to start rotting through the week. It seems that the demon warding may have worked, as they've yet to see any more pop out of the woodwork to try and face them just yet.

The Kings have shut down their lead mining for the moment, though they do have access to it whenever they may wish to start digging it out again.

The Tribesmen spend their time developing bows and leather as well, having plenty of leather on their side in general with all the unicorns they end out hunting in the wild as well as domesticate.

The more exciting part of their week though comes as they send a group northwards to discover The Dust Lands that lays just above King Territory. The land there is severely dry, and it seems that the earth cracks beneath the feet of the people who walk into its depths. in the grand expanse of heated wasteland though there is one beacon of hope in the distance for water. It's the likes of a single settlement that stands with a wall made of scrap metal surrounding a collection of homes that seem to be mostly built out of just as low quality metals as the wall. That is, all save for one building in the middle that denotes what seems to be a palace-like structure, and upon a period of scouting from a nearby hill, it seems that the ruler of the city lives there. A single man that parades himself about like a king, and controls a ground water pump within the confines of his own courtyard, the same that all the wasteland peasants rely on to drink and water their thirsty crops.

The Scouts return with their findings of this apparent water tyrant.

You are Xavier Lewis, Doctor, Friend, Leader, and Badass. You are originally from Chicago where you worked at a small clinic, until the apocalypse thrusted you into a Brave New World full of danger and lawlessness. You looted your way through the Windy city and made your way to the small town of Stronghurst, Illinois.

There, you met many strange but interesting characters, and successfully enacted a coup to instill a General with probable illusions of grandeur. From there, you have risked your life on multiple occasions for the good of your town, gaining you both injuries and fame.

Now, you’ve met some computer genius who has government secrets about a triumvirate, a German doctor who seems like she never has been outside of a lab, a Texan with the looks of a British aristocrat, and now you are headed to help loot a Military base.

A new outfit is what the General wanted you to get, it just seems so silly considering you haven’t given a thought over your outfit, throwing on the same couple shirts and pairs of pants that were washed again and again, courtesy of the General’s manual laundromat.

Now that you actually give it a thought, you can’t help but let your mind wander to all the apocalyptic movies you’ve seen, and how every main character is wearing some stylish outfit, that makes them look like a badass, and you don’t think your Polo and jeans are going to cut it.

Your thoughts about your future outfit are cut short by the truck abruptly stopping, jolting you out of your train of thought. You are at that little fishing village the General talked about, and there you find two boats, one being a fish trawler, maybe 70 feet long at most, and the other being a house boat, about 50 feet in length. Looking at these two ships you’ll have to embark upon and travel upriver with, you were hoping for something a little bigger and more spectacular, but beggars and survivors of an apocalypse have something in common, they can’t be choosers.

A man you don’t recognize, that you assume helped secure the small gaggle of buildings, walks up to you.

“Alright Doctor, these boats have a half tank each, but it should be enough to get there and back, just barely. Which one do you wanna take? The houseboat has a waterbed, though.” He says, trying to humor you, but all you can think about is that fishing trawler and Forest Gump.

>“Give me the Trawler. It’ll be able to carry more cargo on it.”
>“I’ll take the houseboat. It could hold more men just in case something were to happen.”

A Londry remix, adapted from original art and concept by Cognis. All jank you may experience is my own.

Your job: Commander of hunt-and-harvest fighting drones. Your job is performed from the relative safety of an armored moving factory. Your job requires the cooperation of a few others like you and a disposable army. Your job is a vital one.

The probable causes are many and muddled, but today, feral Veggies roam the the ruins of a disaster-riven Earth. Saving the planet is a distant dream dreamt from human bases in the depths of deserts where most Veggies will not go. More attainable is the monthly harvest quota. The folks in orbit and beyond still need to eat, after all. No purestrain produce survived mankind's exodus to the Moon and Mars.

What are you doing listening to this spiel? There's a situation at hand!

Crawlers Fis’Kiire and Akolon are due for maintenance at a supply base located in the Sarklaeus Desert. We have encountered a heavy Veggie proto-infestation and are currently in a running engagement. Full assault is neither a priority of this mission nor expected of a crew of Cadets.

If you’re just waking up to this mission, some grogginess is acceptable. All we need is for you to remember how to man the fabricators and get your drones moving and doing work.

If you have questions, get them answered soonest by me or your colleagues. For tech support, drop by the #Skirmish channel on Rizon.

Ambrose and 2 squad making a splash.

Portside needs some propping up to traverse that hill, AKN! FSK, you’re crawling up their ass, hold uuuuuuuu… whew. Nearly took out AKN’s crane there.

Strike fighters en route, Hosei. Cross your fingers. They only have the crawlers to guide them, and no signal at target site.

Dense group like that, fighters'll probably hit something anyway.

Contact with Pump-Kins, AKN. You can handle that kind of damage, but not for too long.

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a thirty year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

Now, for seven years of peace except for Bojack and Broly.

What with all the Androids including Cell destroyed, that is.
