My car got totaled and the insurance agency is offering me $5200. I have receipts for $3600 worth of parts but they say they can't accept them since they're older than a year "as this would not increase the value of the car."
Are they trying to counter-jew me? Should I just take the money?
Pic related
$3600 worth of what parts? Tuning? Nobody gives a flying fuck about tuning unless you get an independent assessor to confirm a certain value to you which usually only is worth it for theft insurance on high value custom cars. As I said nobody cares about your boyracer parts.
>>17843382
Almost entirely boyracer parts. I don't see how they don't add some value, though, since that was money lost along with the car. It's not like a short shifter or bracing goes bad just because they're a few year years old.
>>17843369
>Should I just take the money?
Implying you'd actually try to contest it in any way and actually win. Insurance companies are a business, and this is how they make money.
Can you identify what car this is in the white?
Im having a hard time.
No its not a honda civic and no it most likely isn't a bmw because its reflector light is closer than a bmw's

How does /o/ feel about manufactures moving towards global platforms?
Is it going to make all their cars feel the same? Does it remove some of the personality of a car?
>TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture)
>Subaru Global Platform
>Honda to develop global car platform with India focus
As long as the cars are in the same category as each other it's fine.
Like small sedans, hatchbacks and coupes on the same architecture is fine.
SUVs based on that same platform are not
>>17843210
VAG has been doing this for a while, seems a logical step for everyone else.
>>17843210
It's gonna lead to compromises in a lot of places, since it's going to be difficult to match all the restrictions of every market. Still, there's plenty of room in terms of engine choice, suspension tuning, and exterior/interior design. I forsee tech becoming the most important factor for 95% of the people buying cars, so the car itself is becoming less important anyway.
found these hoses coming from the top of my chevy 350 small block to the cab. what is it and why does the fitting look like crap?
>>17843178
Get a picture of what part of the engine it's hooked up to. Looks like anudah shoah
Coolant line going to the heater core?
The "crap" would, if thats what it is, be coolant that had slowly leaked out and mixed with condensation, making the yellow paste/mayo-like substance

There are lots of people I know who swear by the Ford Ranger. Check it out
So i'm about to go take my drivers test in a few days, anyone got some advice on passing first try? or even cool stories about your tests
Literally just don't be retarded. I don't understand how people fail this, it's so goddamn easy. I took mine in a small, low traffic town so maybe that helped me out a bit but still.
i failed the first time and i passed the 2nd time, be sure to check your mirrors, blind spots, when you turn and go exactly at the speed limit
passed written and driven test making the most errors possible my first time

/o/ I'm a noob and I need advice.
I love station wagons, estates, whatever you call them. The selection in the US isn't that great though. Most of the "performance" models start around 45,000 new, and that gets you a 3-series, or an a4 all road.
I'm looking more at the prospect of getting the VW sportwagen and putting in a higher end turbo. Maybe doll up the exhaust a little too, but mainly focusing on bringing it up from the stock 170hp to around 250.
Is this retarded? Would I be better off buying a used wagon that was initially intended to have more stock performance?
Also performance wagon appreciation thread
>>17842861
>sportwagen
that's not a performance car
VW has an R line golf wagon in Germany that I wish they'd bring stateside. Essentially just the IS30 out of the regular Golf R with awd
>>17842867
I know it's not meant to be performance, but would adding performance parts be enough to make it one?
Is this a bad idea? I don't really know much about rotory engines. What about the price. Will it be fun to drive stock? What can you tell me about these
>>17842815
wtf, that's a good deal regardless of the engine's condition
>>17842836
This. Paint looks a little shitty but if it has straight body panels and no rust you're getting a good deal. Be cautious of rape and robbery OP, sometimes things really are too good to be true.
>>17842815
>Will it be fun to drive stock?
it's a fairly light car with enough horsepower and an easy-revving, high-revving engine. So, IMO, yes.
>/o/ like driving manuals

You are the reason why manuals will cease to exist and replaced by self driving cars.

Me too
what if an engine had 2 sets of cylinders?
one set that has a short stroke with a wide bore and another set that has a long stroke with a narrower bore but both sets get the same displacement
I'm not at all an engineer but I assume that this would provide a better balance between high revs and mid range torque even without forced induction
Honda and Hyundai have patented engines with different sized cylinders but the strokes are all the same across the crank
>>17842634
You'd be limiting yourself to the rev's of the longer stroke ones and wouln't be able to effectively use either the longer or the shorter stroke pistons
>>17842634
That would be extremely hard to balance
it would shake itself apart lmao
You might be onto something. Just add Direct Exhaust Injection and it's perfect.
First Volvo, then Jaguar, now Lincoln

>>17842599
Doesn't that mean there will be an electric version of all models, not that none will be ICE anymore? That's the case with Volvo.
>>17842599
Is Mazda the only good brand left?
Nobody will buy an electric car if someone doesn't build charging stations.
Nobody will build charging stations if people don't buy an electric car.

Is riding without a helmet as really as bad an idea as reddit makes it out to be?
Yes nigger it really is
>>17842581
Yes, if you fuck up that's your brains splattered across the concrete.
If you don't wear riding gear at least your noggin is still protected, you'll just have to get skin grafts for days/weeks/months/years/forever.
If you don't wear a helmet AND riding gear you're as good as dead. You'll look like a fucking run over skunk.
