Why do people buy Japanese cars past 100k miles but not German cars?
>why is this broad generalization I pulled out of my ass a thing guys XD totally not trying to start shit
Because one of them doesn't fall apart after these miles

I bought a German car >100k
My Fiero Formula got totaled - against everyone's advice I'm buying it back for 5,200 bucks with a salvage title. Just so everyone knows.
Am contemplating selling it on Craigslist, or sinking more money into it to reseal engine and fix AC.
Just a fender bender.
Why
I meant to say, I receive 5,200 after "buying" it back from insurance.
So who else is gonna be trolling the Huston area car markets after the floods pass?
Can probably get some pretty nice cars for cheap despite the water damage

I thought we were past this.
So I discovered the world of SLV's ((slow moving vehicles)) out of a place of desperation, I could never afford a big car or insurance for one and I see allot of people using none plated golf carts all the time in my city of New orleans and had a chat with one of the operators and they said it was alright and I see them frequently enough to believe cops dont fuck with them about it. So I went off and bought a solar powered tuk tuk Pretty neat huh?
she is being imported from china and even had a nineteen mile an hour limiter put on it so it could be shipped here with no odometer which i plan to install one myself... it uses a thousand watt motor which is considered a toy by most states and the company classifies it as a tricycle as it has three wheels. It is also powered by the sun along with the ability to charge from an outlet. one set of batteries is 5 cells The capacity right now is 45 Ah with the proclaimed range of a hundred mile range or more. and there is another compartment for another 5 cells So Im wandering would it be ok to link up 5 lithium cells to the existing cells to extend my range also they say the solar panel will let it go farther. Thanks for reading im super excited as it should be coming to the freight yard tomorrow. and here she is

/diy/ might be of more help

If original cells aren't lithium, you shouldn't link them up with lithium cells. You're better off getting a good standalone lithium pack and using that alone.
Solar isn't gonna extend your range much.
What sort of voltage does it run? 5 cells (odd number) seems to indicate a pure series connection of 5*12=60V rather than a combination of series- and parallel-connection.
I've always really loved and admired cars. However trying to learn about them seems hard to break into. Where and how did you start accumulating information, and how can a babu like me start doing the same.

Go find a busted lawnmower and get it running again. Good place to start.
>>17785199
Yeah this or scooters. 2 stroke engines are good to start with.
Steal a pic related and go from there following JewTube tutorials on how to overclock them. Go from there.

started watching powerblock with dad when I was little and then as I got older, helped him work on his truck doing misc shit and picking up tips, then started doing research and shit on my own, and then when I got my own toolbox and truck shit really took off.
I think youtube kinda fuckin sucks for learning stuff, get your hands on books and something you can work on for real.
In the market for a brand new car.
Criteria is has to be cheap
handle well
have an lsd from factory
and be brand new
also easy to modify.
I live in Australia btw.

Why do drag cars have steering wheels if they're just trying to go in a straight line?
Easier than setting up some kind of slot car system. And you can steer them off the track.

Same reason most muscle cars do. Whatever that is.
Hey guys,
I'm hoping you can help me with a problem I'm having. My car has a failing fuel pump. Last week, I had it idling in the driveway and it shut off. Until that point, it started like a dream and ran great with the occasional stall. The only code stored in the computer was for the O2 sensor, I have an exhaust leak somewhere around the exhaust manifold. I get my codes pulled once a month because I don't have a working engine light. The O2 sensor was the only code. After it stalled that last time, things went south. It occasionally misfires now, just enough to be noticeable, not enough to be a problem, sometimes, there is a lack of acceleration, it takes forever to start, I'm assuming it's losing fuel pressure while it's sitting. A whole bunch of codes popped up, crank position sensor, engine speed sensor, something about the air fuel mix ratio, that one is understandable. The EVAP purge valve has been stuck closed since sometime in the winter, but it didn't throw any codes until everything else popped up. I fixed that valve today. But where did the speed sensor and crank sensor come from? Could the timing chain have jumped a tooth trying to start it?
Pic related
Nobody knows anything about cars here.
Sounds like your car has the gay
Gonna have to junk it
Maybe the O2 sensor made the ECU think the car was running too lean and now it's running too rich? That could explain some of the things but it seems unlikely. Maybe try just replacing the pump
One day.

Is a 300ZX Z32 twin turbo reliable? How much should I pay for one?
Pic unrelated?
They have their common failure points like all cars. Reliable if maintained well. $7-$10k
i'm buying this 08 ford fusion sel v6 w 103k for 3.65k. i work until 430 mon-sat so it's hard to get a car checked at a mechanic for me and i don't know enough to inspect them myself. the seller offered to take it to a dealership and get it inspected on his dime. sounds a bit fishy to me but just wanted opinions.
tl;dr - buying a car tmrw, guy wants to get it inspected at a dealer while i'm at work. go for it? y/n
Post your cockpits.

That cord around the shifter is really bothering me.

>A/T mode
What does that do?
Name a more badass rallye car from that era.
Protipp: You cant.
Thoughts on the MR2?
snap oversteer
5sfe is pure shit
3sge isn't worth the money to swap, 3sgte is ok if it ccame with it.
16v 4age is crap, 20v is ok when you can find them cheap
a honda k eries is suppsedly an easy swap if you have an sw20
those are for beaked out mid-engine adrenaline junkies who wanted to chuck jolt cola and stare down the grim reaper every rainy interstate off-ramp

what would you recommend as an affordable (around $5k) Japanese pocket rocket?
Anyone else on /o/ have one of these? Had mine for a week and it's been decent so far. Not particularly fast by any stretch (it's basically a FiST without the turbo and a 6th gear in terms of the drivetrain) but really fun to throw around, has a great gearbox and a nice enough interior. Picked a 2011 model up for £6k with 40k miles
