I hate 4 spoke steering wheels like this, it makes me think I'm driving a truck
This is the ideal automobile design. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

Every single one of those is easily avoidable because you see it far in advance.
This guy is simply neurotic because people are cutting him off, is it a pride thing?
They clearly don't care about you, why continue to honk?
It's ingrained in chinese culture not to give a shit about anyone.
The roads tend to be in good condition, but that's about it.
>no toegay because next to no elevation changes across the entire country
>ultra-densely populated
>cyclists fucking everywhere (although the majority actually follow laws and stay in their lanes)

Are you saying this is okay?
Are we keeping engines in the front of the cars for traditional reasons, or is it actually practically useful?
What are the implications of each design?
It's actually useful. With mid-rear engines you're destroying all hopes for rear seats or luggage space. With rear-ear engines you still compromise bodystyle variety and practicality (in case of a rear engined wagon you'll have one trunk above the engine and one trunk in the front instead of one big trunk). If you have the engine in the front you can do whatever you want with the rest of the cabin. Also it makes cooling far easier. The only benefit of mid-rear is handling so it only makes sense in sports cars, and rear-rear actually compromises handling as well as compromising practicality so it's completely retarded.
FF is the most efficient in terms of space design.

Hadn't considered this, but...
>engine in the front - can have big trunk in the back
>engine in the back - can't have big trunk in the front, because you need to be able to see where you are going
What's the best way to get out of a deal where you're upside down on a car in debt because you're retarded?
My mom is stupid and I'm even more stupid for listening to her.
When I was 18 my $300 topaz died on me and my mom told me i should buy a brand new car to build credit. I didn't know any better and went with her and financed a brand new 2013 Chevy Cruze for around 22-23k at 9% interest.
Now it's worth maybe 7-10k and I still owe $16k
I want out from under it, warranty is over. Has 77k It keeps coming up with small issues. Seats are tearing.
The payments arent really an issue but the 9% interest is. My credit was fresh 500 back then now im 760+. I just hate owning such a shitbox and being stuck in it.
My buddy is a finance manager at a nissan/gmc dealer has been going back and forth with me and his general manager about trying to get me out of this thing without taking too much of a hurt.
We're looking at '14 Altima on their lot with 32k on it for 15k. This is assuming a 11000 trade in on my car which is way over their suggested trade value.
So I'll end up with a 20k loan with 1.9% interest for 60/mo on the Altima.
The GM and my buddy said they literally can't do anything more then that.
Seems like a way nicer car than my cruze that I won't be upside down on as badly.
This seem like a decent route to go or is there another avenue?
It's time to pay the Piper my man. Pretty much all you can do at this point is refi for a lower rate and overpay until you owe the value. You probably have 3 years to go.
The only way not to be upside down is through money
>>17805371
Stop buying frivolous things, stop eating out, focus all your disposable income on paying off that car. Once you've paid it off you can sell it and buy a 3k Toyota Corolla.

These.
Buying yet another overpriced shitter is not the way
Why is parallel parking so difficult?
It seems so highly counter-intuitive that most people use rigid techniques as opposed to general spatial awareness as for other angles. A lot of otherwise good drivers will openly admit that they cannot parallel-park worth shit. Myself I only try it when the space is like 1.5 car-lengths wide. I wouldn't consider myself a good driver either, but I can handle other angles well enough.
Because of the way modern cars are designed you just can't see a fuckin thing
It's like all they think about is if you can see straight forward and fuck everything else
>>17805436
It seems difficult enough even with better visibility.
>>17805320
I only parallel park when I can whip right in, when I have to back into a spot I'll usually hunt around for another spot. doesn't help to be driving a fat ass truck with a long box
http://jalopnik.com/mercedes-amgs-street-legal-f1-car-will-have-a-top-speed-1798694704
Mercedes AMG is developing a 'Formula 1 car for the road' with 1000hp, 220mph top speed, etc etc. Should be pretty awesome considering that they have the best car on the field right now.
But, this is what gets me upset. For some reason Jalopnik thought it would be good to bring on women as writers, which would be fantastic if these women actually gave a shit about cars, but instead we get opinions like this
>The thing is, it’s kind of silly to say that. You’re not going to pass a speed-limit sign in a rural desert that says “IDK, do whatever you want,” so paying $3 million for 1,000 horses and 217 mph seems like a huge, silly waste of money for nothing other than the Instagram props and the occasional track day. It feels that way with any ridiculous supercar that’ll never let you reach its full potential in daily life.
What the fuck. Why would a site that is dedicated to the awesomeness of the automobile consider it a good idea to bring on writers that want to talk down about how 'silly' it would be to build a car that will be designed in such an extreme philosophy (which is kinda what the automobile world needs right now). Jalopnik has been dying a slow death for a few years now, but it's official that the whole thing is going to be put to rest pretty soon.

objectively correct
unless you're a pro race driver you can't drive this road legal race car anywhere close to its limits

Got a 2006 Cayman S, it's a very nice car love it !
The strength of rotary engine is not inherently the power it produces, its the balance you get with ideal 50-50 weight distribution. I just love the consistent spirit of the rotary engine! its like the magic on the street !

buy some diesel and clean it up with that
>>17804709
Wash all that shit with some Diesel and a brush, then once it's almost clean, finish everything off with a bit of gasoline and another brush.
Diesel cleans oily shit like a champ, but leaves oily residues itself that won't dry in a reasonably short time, so use gasoline to clean what's left of the Diesel, the gunk and to have everything dry at the end.
Hello, my girlfriend is about to buy a 04 civic from a dealer. I've never went through a dealer as I think they're overpriced so I'm inexperienced in negotiating.
How much extra should we expect to pay in fees etc besides plating, registration and insurance?
Also how much would you try to negotiate down from a $3,900 list price?
any and all help is 110% appreciated it. long time lurker.
dont go to a dealer

I need /o/'s opinion on this:
>have 1997 Toyota Celica ST with a 1.8l 7A-FE motor with 260,000 miles on the odometer
>car was left out overnight with hood open in the rain
>car now has misfire on cylinder 3 but seems to come and go
>spark plugs, spark plug wires, and ignition coil all check out ok
>distributor rotor and distributor rotor cap were old stock parts, rusted out and rotor was missing chunks
>replace distributor rotor and distributor rotor cap
>car only runs slightly better, but still sputters occasionally
>If the car is idling, it will go from 900 and drop to 500 occasionally then back to 900
>while car is idling, and you slowly and gradually push gas pedal, the engine will rev smooth all the way to red line
>if car is idling and gas pedal is suddenly pushed all the way to the floor, it sputters and takes longer to reach redline while vibrating the whole car
>if driving around and RPM is at say, 2,000-2,500 and you punch the gas pedal, it accelerates smoothly with no sputters
>if stopped and idling, and suddenly punch gas, car struggles to build speed and feels like it's going to stall
>if cruising around at constant speed, car occasionally sputters and looses power, but stops after 2-3 seconds
My only other thoughts are the fuel injectors, the throttle position sensor, and/or the MAP sensor need cleaned/replaced but I fail to see how a little rain can suddenly make them dirty or non functional.
What does /o/ think the problem is?
