Are there ANY cities in the United States that don't have incredibly shitty urban planning?

Trying to figure out where I want to end up eventually.

New York, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, Boston, DC, and Atlanta.

>Atlanta

no… Atlanta has incredibly shitty urban "planning," which is to say, they built everything according to need at that moment and never "planned" anything. the streets in the small downtown area are offset from each other, in at least one case due to the infra the original landowners laid and the city just absorbing it (the Fairlie Poplar section is diagonal to everything around it.) Midtown pretty much makes sense (except where it doesn't) and the interstate cuts through it and creates some really counter-intuitive bullshit (Spring street is one-way southbound in Midtown and one-way northbound Downtown.) all the other intown neighborhoods tend to be cut off from each other or have their pattern destroyed by interstates or railroads. Everything else is massive shitty sprawl.

Nice Bait.
1x is genuinely very nice if you can afford a proper setup. I hear complaints about cross chaining, but you spend most of your time in the middle, only using the low end for harsh climbs and the high end for long downhills.
>>
>>1046829
I think the meme is actually the size of the cassette, not 1x specifically. 50t on its own isn't a problem but it's usually paired with 32t or less up front to give stupidly low gearing for babylegged casuals. If I was dumb enough to buy Eagle I'd run something like 38t up front.

Can anyone identify this Pinarello?

Dealer doesn't have much info, wondering if it's legit.

It looks like it was V-brakes, that's really weird?
>>
>>1049298
It's safe to say that is not a Pinarello - apparently there was a steel Pina touring bike called the Promenade, but its frame was nothing like what we can see from your picture.

I'm thinking that it's a repainted French bike (everything but the wheels and derailers are French and from the same era), possibly a Peugeot Vagabond? If you want a positive ID, we'd need detailed pics of the dropouts and lugs, to find out whether the headset/bb are french/italian/britsh, and any serial numbers. It would also be a good idea to post these pictures on bikeforums C&V, lots of knowledgeable folks there.

Suppose I want to buy an expensive motorcycle, price starting at 30.000 USD and up. Not a custom.

Are there places that specialise in this kind of stuff? Like, shops with luxury motorcycles?

I borrowed most of the components off this Falcon San Remo (531c) frame about six months ago, and then it sat while I slowly gathered parts (and a desire to rebuild it). Here's how I finished putting it back together last week, I've had it out a couple of times and it's a sweet ride. Needs a stem 1cm longer and some shallow drop bars to be perfect, but it's not uncomfortable as pictured.

i live at a house behind the main lookout of a big city bike track. The amount of Fred is out of controll. Literally Thousands of FREDS stop outside my bedroom window in the morning. The noise of all the cleats clicking and and unclicking forces me to sleep with earbuds. There is a constant drone from all the braking on GARBON rims.

I promise to document all this one day for the amusement of /n/. You think you have seen FREDS ? ILL SHOW YOU FREDS.

It's a late 60's, early 1970's department store bike. It doesn't have much resale value, maybe $50-100 tops because it's a generic, low-end object without any 'collectible' status, nor is a desirable bike from a sporting perspective.

But on the bright side, it's an extremely valuable commodity in a different sense: it's an extremely inexpensive and reliable mode of transportation. Replace the tires, brake pads, and cables as necessary and put clean grease on the bearings every few years and you've got a great little machine that will get you to work or to the grocery store everyday, and cost you maybe $100 to keep in good working condition for 5+ years.

Oh hey, it's a Steyr-Puchs bike from Sears. A Free Spirit, I think was the brand name. Of the non-Raleigh built 3-speeds, those were the best of the bunch. Better than the Schwinns and Huffies of the same era, and definitely better than every other department store bike of the time. It's worth a little more than the average old 3-speed, maybe $120-$150 in pristine condition, because of its Austrian heritage.

But as the other anon said, that's a really good mode of transportation. It's made of high-quality Austrian steel, so it will hold up really well. It's also got a 3-speed internal hub, so it's literally perfect for tooling around town. An internal hub means the shifting gears are on the inside of the hub, so they're protected from the elements and thus much more reliable. You can also shift gears while standing still, which makes it uniquely suited for traffic.

All in all, real good find, anon. It's a good way to get /fit/ without spending shitloads of money on gas, it's a really reliable bike, and it even gives you a certain "pedigree" in the English 3-speed circles. 10/10 bike, I hope you keep it and ride it for many years and miles.

I just went to the store and figured it would be a good idea to get a little skateboard to go down hills since walking is a huge pain and the board will save me a bunch of time and could be fun. Really wish I had thought of this the first semester.
