Well, my car is now dead in the water as of right now, have to wait a week to see if the insurance will cover the repairs. If it does, great, if not, then I will have to get a new vehicle. Don't want a hybrid because I have no place to plug it in, nor do I want an SUV because I fucking hate gas guzzlers, plus my apartment complex has small parking spaces so it'd be a nightmare trying to back it in. What I'm looking for is a comfortable 5 seater so I can do some uber runs on the side that's good on gas, suggestions?
Get a bike
get a 3k civic now fuck off
Old one is almost kill
Any online guides or resources on how to get things attached to bike?
I want to move a full-sized mirror from IKEA to my house, no subway options, and don't want to ask for a car. Also, most of the way is by the bike lanes, about 10km.
So, how do I? Inb4 rope, wagon

That's gonna end up in disaster
Post some bus pictures the rule is only "BRT" buses are allowed
These are Daewoo BH115 buses
They are so shit that they always fall apart
Jist found that starions in the guangzhou BRT system are 6 lanes width.... why would one want to make the station so wide?
http://gzbrt.org/
What? Korean namu wiki's article about BRT said Istanbul IETT Metrobus system's min interval is 8 seconds?
>>1038102
This bus is painted BRT, so I guess it is considered a "BRT buses" although it is not going to be use in BRT system
This is a bike designed for African countries. Anything as tough or tougher on the market I can buy that's also as low maintenance

90s rigid mtb
>>1037211
The only truly special things about this bike are the high-spoke count wheels and the overbuilt rear rack, unless you're planning to use your bike similar to pic related, they're total overkill for everyday riding and commuting. The ordinary racks and wheels you find on bikes in western countries are perfectly strong (assuming the wheels are properly built, trued, and tensioned - this is the usual failing of cheap bikes sold at places like Walmart).
As far as low maintenance goes, the key features are the fenders, chainguard, singlespeed drivetrain, and coaster brake. The first three are standard options for singlespeed bikes or accessories you can easily add to a SS bike which prolong the life of the drivetrain. Coaster brakes are great for low maintenance and widely available, as long as you don't have lots of steep hills they're perfectly serviceable.
If you're in the US and want a bike just like the one pictured, you can buy a Worksman utility bike. Otherwise any simple bike from a proper bike shop will work as well for everything short of transporting bricks, livestock, etc.

90's mtb frames are far from indestructible. I've bent and snapped many. They're heavy and flexy plus if they've been sitting outside in the elements they're probably rusted to fuck on the inside. Which is almost as sketchy as riding cracked carbon.
Even a $400 single speed, mechanical disc Bikesdirect MTB is a massive upgrade over that meme.
Posting bombardier trains and their facts
>>1034162
They look a lot like some of the trains Norrtåg uses up in north sweden. Runs at around 190km/h, must be careful with the coffee in steep curves otherwise they are ok.
My favourite train is the X2000 tilting train, can stand up and drink coffe at 200km/h without worrying, my favorite train of the ones i have tried.
>>1034162
too bad i suck at painting or i would outline the funny face that train has going on

Also. the only train running in Denmark that has a cool name.
I mean. x2000. wauw. Space!
Is he right? Is walking the most redpilled form of transportation?
In nature, yes.
I believe Abbey also suggested that all national parks ought to be closed to motorized traffic of all kinds. He imagined something like bikeshare being available at the entrance to parks. (prob. in Desert Solitaire, but it could be in one of his novels, don't recall offhand).
>>1031415
>“No more cars in national parks. Let the people walk. Or ride horses, bicycles, mules, wild pigs--anything--but keep the automobiles and the motorcycles and all their motorized relatives out. We have agreed not to drive our automobiles into cathedrals, concert halls, art museums, legislative assemblies, private bedrooms and the other sanctums of our culture; we should treat our national parks with the same deference, for they, too, are holy places. An increasingly pagan and hedonistic people (thank God!), we are learning finally that the forests and mountains and desert canyons are holier than our churches. Therefore let us behave accordingly.”
>>1031423
Yeah, that's DS. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure the quote about having a fleet of bikes available at each park is in MWG if anyone wants to look it up (book is worth reading regardless)..

The Selby Avenue Streetcar Tunnel was built in Saint Paul, Minnesota to allow streetcars to climb a steep hill. It replaced an earlier cable car. It was closed and sealed when the streetcar system was abandoned and replaced with buses.
The Cincinnati Subway tunnel was built through downtown but was abandoned due to rising costs and the Great Depression. It was never built and still sits unused.

After close to a century of planning the first section of the Second Avenue Subway will open on January 1, 2017 adding three new stations to the NYC Subway. It's the first segment in a line that will eventually run almost the entire length of Manhattan. It's expected to carry 200,000 people daily upon opening.
Any NYC Anons/railfans/foamers planning to check things out?
I'm glad for NYC but 3 new stations is such a pathetic expansion, seriously.
>>1035681
We are lucky to get that. The Second Avenue subway was talked about in the 1920s. They took down all the els in Manhattan when they should have kept them.
>>1035684
Specifically either the Second or Third Avenue El's. Either (or both) would have relieved future congestion from the Lexington Avenue Line like as have now.
Destroying the EL's was dumb decision by both the city, and NYCTA.
Let's also not forget how they were gunning to tear down Grand Central as well.

Whyte hardtails are very good. I don't know if they sell them in Germany yet but they're extremely high quality.

I gotta wonder what the max L/D of these things is (excluding lift due to buoyancy, I mean).
Thinking about getting a rack instead of a basket for my bike.
How easy/difficult is it to mount, say, a milk crate?
I want to be able to (somewhat) easily remove the crate in case I need to transport some big or heavy.
I was thinking about using some elastic bike straps: one going from front to back and another from side to side. Bad idea?
heavy duty zip ties are the best option imo
This front nitto rack broke a weld before the zip ties holding the basket broke

Like the left one in this picture?
I'm guessing the one on the right might be too weak?
