What has /k/ acquired recently? Grabbed this Tanfoglio Witness in 9mm for $300. Heavy as a brick but it has lolnorecoil. Thinking about buying a 10mm conversion kit for some more power.

Sako 85 Bavarian for $839.

As for the Tanfoglio, I'd recommend not getting a 10mm conversion kit if your Witness is an older model. They had frame cracking issues in the 10mm models.

Does anyone think the west is basically incapable of making weapon systems of this quality anymore?

Think about the entire atmosphere when these machines were designed and made, there was genuine fear of war with the Soviet Union. The entire system the MIC operated under has always been concerned with how many shekels they can get from tax money, but all those engineers and policy makers had a genuine ideology behind the effort and insight they put into their work.

Thats gone. And military hardware as it seems in the west is solely about farming shekels for military industry connected people and its employees. The overall system will have zero impetus to design things to the superlative nature of weapon systems like the Apache or Abrams.

TLDR its all about making money, probably almost no desire to make weapon systems that actually are the cream of the crop

We don't need to make new ones, we can just keep upgrading what we have for the foreseeable future.

Also, this is just it, there is no new big enemy that justifies a massive arms procurement: ISIS? lol, Russia? concerning if you live in the Baltics or EE but we can handle them, China? Building up but even their widest dreams procurement systems still deliver far less than what the US is capable of putting out. Also, these machines cost a lot of money. It's not easy to build a new tank every 10 years when you can upgrade your existing ones. Most systems are like that now, they're built with future upgrades in mind from the get go

My question is basically can I buy a lower reciever from somebody off of armslist and make it into a pistol if it came from a full rifle ? I mean can they know whether it's a rifle or pistol or an other? For some reason no one is selling a complete lower around my area on armslist and I'm not 21 so I can't have transfer a lower.

they know what it left the factory as and what the first ffl that sold it logged it as.
if it left the factory as a rifle there isnt shit you can do about it. its a fucking rifle.
the guy you bought it off of can claim its an other all he wants but for all you know he could have bought a complete ar and stripped it for parts. in which case its a rifle and you made an illegal sbr not a pistol.

I know shooting is difficult, but you can't deny pre-firearm battles were not more heroic in the traditional sense.

Not sure I understand what you're driving at.
Fighting is hardly ever 'heroic,' if that's even a thing in the first place. Traditional sense? Please define that.

You certainly can't have a prolonged fight (one on one) with firearms. Guns are great at equalizing and flattening the skill curve. A peasant can kill a knight with a gun about as easily as the other way around. You can consider melee fights to be the stuff that isn't as clear-cut, sure.

Would shooting the flamethrower tank actually make it blow up?

Would shooting a pressurized can of kerosene make it blow up?

There's your answer.
>>
>>34598019

not op, but does it?
>>
>>34598011
real flamethrowers are two canister deals with a mixture that ignites harder near the tip of the nozzle

its basically a sticky solution that isn't a flame gout, its a substance thats on fire that sticks to things and people that burns hotter than jet fuel at contact

tanks are not waterproof, and if the smoke is mitigated the internal fire systems would go off and cause the occupants serious breathing issues (as those systems are hardly lung friendly and blinding)

My brother just borrowed me an air gun. It's super fun, but previous person he borrowed it to kept it for three fucking years in some kind of a shed. Effects are pic related, it has rust spots everywhere. Is there any way to fix those spots, optimally without using sandpaper (that would probably remove entire black coating thingie too)? I don't hope for much, it's visibly rotten deeply, but it never hurts to ask.

I rubbed wd40 into it, didn't do much good, so i just wiped it, rubbed a little bit of lubricant and left it like that.

If it's one of those cheap WalMart airguns, you could seriously just buy a new one instead.
>>
>>34597761
fine steel wool and real oil. hell vegetable oil is better than wd40. vegetable oil should not be used for longterm storage.
>>
>>34597776
i'm not from glorious united states of freedom, but i think it's not a bad one. It's suprisingly precise, although i don't have much experience in that subject. Best weapon i ever used so far was winchester on the shooting range.

Name and model is Diana 240.

>>34597788
Thanks, i'll surely try that. And steel wool won't damage the black coating thingie? Or should i aim for some fine grade wool to prevent that from happening?
