Welcome to The Lost Island Quest. Last thread our hero, Alan Rodain, set out on a rescue mission with the rest of his team, bonded with his loyal steed and successfully ambushed a patrolling war party of Island orcs. He is now in the process of extricating himself from beneath a very heavy body.

“Uhhhhhhhh”. The noise escapes from your lips as you try to push the orc's corpse off of you. He's trapped your arms and you don't have the proper leverage to throw him off. Thankfully you see Rowe approach you and rush to help.

Together she helps you roll the orc off of you and into the riverbed. She gives you a hand to pull yourself up. You quickly check your stuff. Your familiar was almost crushed and drowned, but you open up the satchel quick enough to pour out most of the water. Muffin looks very upset. It's a good thing you didn't have that revolver in your pack, the water would have probably ruined it. One of your arrows broke in its quiver and one of your throwing darts fell out and was most likely washed down the river. Minor losses all around.

You scan the rest of the skirmish's battleground. It appears Kyra has had to beat that one orc with her blackjack multiple times with the aid of the two prisoner's kicking it to finally subdue it. She, Quissonce, the human and the dwarf have moved on to tying up the four sleeping orcs.

The last orc, the biggest one that Gabby engaged is on the ground with Gabby sitting on top of him, pinning his arms behind his back. She is currently smacking him upside the head and punching him in the gut mercilessly, while Eve is pointing the decanter of endless water at his face on the highest setting, hosing him down. He's stubbornly refusing to go down, but you have a feeling it's only a matter of seconds before Gabby has this under control.

You quickly fish out your marble and channel some healing energy into your head wound. As the pain goes away, you ponder on what element of this situation you should tackle first.

might be kind of a silly topic but what is your favorite rulebook, players manual etc? Doesn't have to be a good system just one you love having. can be because of the way it looks on the shelf, page formatting or whatever reason.

I've always kind of liked the DnD 3.5 books because each one feels like some kind of tome.

Earthdawn first edition. The game has issues, and nobody I know is actually willing to play Earthdawn, and I wouldn't be playing 1st edition anyway, but from a pure book perspective it's great. It's from an era when books had to be tight, before cheap printing and sizzle before steak led to massive book bloat. The art is solid, the concepts are well-expressed, it's a shame I don't get more use out of it.

This is the Warhammer 40k List Thread.

> Old Pasta is old Edition

Rules and tactica discussion is encouraged.
Fluff and rumors are better suited to the General, so kindly check the catalog.
The 30K community is still small, but growing, so don't get discouraged if your AoD list doesn't get feedback.

>Rules of Thumb
1) If you post a list, please critique other lists, if you are familiar with other codices.
2) Type your lists cleanly. Lists with poor formatting are usually ignored. Picture versions or PDFs of lists *are* acceptable, but not encouraged, and will often be ignored as well.
3) Preferably, advice should be given from a place of experience, i.e.; don't give advice you haven't tried yourself.
4) Don't bump excessively either, as that will diminish the likelihood anons will respond.
5) Finally, it helps if you have a short description of how you intend to run your list. This also helps anons give better criticism, and will typically illicit swifter responses.

I've felt strange, ever since I gave a speech about people who I shouldn't know to a crowd that were until a month or so ago were just strings of code. Or were they? I still haven't figured out exactly what's going on here, and I doubt I ever will, But I'd be lying if it wasn't haunting me like a bowl of bad chili. I mean sure I can actually spend time out with my friends now, even if I have to keep one of them away from the perversions of the men and boys in town, just seeing how they look at her makes my blood boil.

I grit my teeth and sigh, staring at the light blue, almost mournful sky above me as I lay back on the rough shingles that cover the inns roof, using my arms as a kind of pillow so I don't get a headache from the cold and hard slabs of iron.

...I know we just made it up but...I feel like she's really my sister, even though I know who "She" used to be in our world, a actually kind of girly boy....you know maybe that's why I'm having such an easy time accepting it...but everytime I close my eyes, I remember and see me and her as little kids on a farm. Chasing her around with a frog trying to get her to kiss it has to be my favorite of those and...and I shouldn't remember it, I mean I couldn't run even back then, or not for long at least, and yet I can remember the air running through my hair, the smell of the wet grass and mud splashing on my boots, and the stinging pain of my scrapped knee after I tripped and feel face first in the gravel, getting my dress all dirty, which made mom really upset and.

"ERGH!" I growl, slamming my fist into the metal, yelping in pain and clutching my hand a moment later "YOW"

I shake my fingers, trying to work the pain out of them as I sit straight up, my face aching from being out in the cold all morning since I woke up.

I shouldn't be angry...I mean remembering two very different lives is pretty nice, no it's really nice. I remember meeting Lawrence back in grade school, he came and sat by me during lunch, despite the fact I had a cold that week. And I remember breaking Lucy's first Admirers nose for admitting he only liked her for her...figure. and I met Sam and Bailey twice, which is nice too I guess.

I sigh, I remember stopping Sam from beating in Lawrence's face, and I remember giving him water as he crawled half dead into our family farm.

And I met Bailey when she started chewing out Sam for making me cry with a cruel joke, and I met her here when Me and Lucy went looking for a witch to tell us about our future...like who'd we'd end up marrying, and all we found was an old hut with a girl around our age sitting in it and...

I smirk, So many memories and places, half of which don't go with the other half at all, it's a weird sensation...but not a bad one. No the only thing that's really disturbing me here is that I seem to be losing time, I don't remember how I killed Johnny or even how I got there, and all I can remember after I walked into the tomb with Sam and Lucy is suddenly seeing Sam clutching his bleeding face, crying for the first time since I've known him...in both sets of memories.

I shake my head, standing up. No, this is making me feel sick, I need to..I need to get my mind off of all this before I...before I...don't know.

Who do you go talk to?

I took apart stiflenought because it sucks now and built a kitchen table deck

the basic game plan is use torpor orb or sundial of the infinite to play phyrexian dreadnought or eater of days and beat face. rest of deck is counterspells and digging.

Battle raged far below you, thousands of men coated in steel creating a cacophony of violence. Spellfire rippled forth from robed humans atop a makeshift tower at the rear of one end of the battlefield, surrounded by banners of blue. Screams of pain and anguish filled the air as the spell impacted with the enemy ranks, setting the very earth ablaze. Your vision from this rocky outcropping could see the shimmering of the air as the armoured cocoons of the soldiers turned to molten slag over their very bodies.

The opposing general, wearing a plume of green feathers and riding atop an enormous three-headed hound, returned the favour with a roaring bolt of lightning from his hands. The explosion of light created by its impacting the blue mage’s barrier seared your eyes and you twisted away, one of your massive claws shattering rock as it moved.

You are Lairos, one of the oldest and most dangerous dragons to live in this world. The battle below was a mere skirmish by the standards of the battles you had interrupted and normally you would pay it no heed.

The problem was that these humans had interrupted your sleep. If there was one good habit that had survived centuries of turmoil, it was to always have a hearty breakfast when you awoke. Your preference was for lots of meat, flame-grilled to perfection with plenty of crunchy bits and a healthy helping of iron. You…

Also, although this quest one-shot is related to Aspiring Emperor Quest (a quest which I ran for a while) you probably don’t need to know anything about it to participate in this one-shot.

Devlinson is exhausted. His eyes are red-rimmed and his white shirt is rumpled, the front carelessly smeared with tobacco ash.

“Big night on the town, Dev?”

The olderman wipes his face with his hand, pulling down his lower lip. Peeling it back reveals a misaligned row of nicotined stained teeth. Brown rot festers visibly in the crevices.

“Yeah,” he says, lifting his eyes to meet yours, “You could say- aw, Christ.”

His gaze is fixated on your nose or maybe more honestly, on your schnozz.

“It’s too early for this, Vince. Take it off.”

“I… I can’t.”

“Oh God.”

“I’m hoping the swelling will go down eventually.”

“Me too Vince, me too. I hope you didn’t spend a lot of money on that.”

'Sup /tg/.
How do y'all feel about legendary weapons with a history to them? I'm not so much looking for crunch here, I'm just hoping we can share cool fluff for weapons of legend, both blessed and cursed.
The sword known as "Beautiful Singer" is a dueling sword of extraordinary craftsmanship and incredible beauty, as much a work of art as a weapon. She is incredibly light, seeming almost to float in the wielders hand. And when she cuts through the air, it is said that the sound she makes rings in the ears of her wielder as the most haunting and beautiful song in all the world. However, the blade is said to bear a terrible curse.
These are the facts which are known for sure: She was created for a great warlord, renowned both for his swordsmanship and his passions. This warlord never married, but had regular beds in many pleasure houses throughout the land. One of his consorts was a courtesan whose beauty was said to be unmatched. Her voice was also without equal, and it is said that she used to sing him to sleep. The courtesan fell in love with this warlord, and wished to marry him. Of course, a nobleman such as he could never marry a woman of her profession, so she instead begged him to forsake all other women but herself. Now as we all know, a man, particularly a man of such great passions as this warlord, could not deny a request coming from such a lovely woman as she. He agreed, but his passions were to be his undoing. In time he inevitably became unfaithful to his love, and when she learned of it, she attempted to kill him. Of course no mere courtesan could best a warrior of his caliber, but she caught him off his guard. Ordinarily he would have tried to restrain her, but he reacted without thought to her surprise attack, and slew her.

And here is where solid fact ends, and folklore and speculation begin. It is said that the warlord was so distraught at her death by his hand that he brought the blade that killed her back to the smith who crafted it. The warlord was something of a poet, and so he composed a piece in her honor, and had it inscribed on the tang of the blade.
"The glorious sun,
night on reaching its zenith,
shaded by my hand."
The warlord had only shaded the sun, however. He did not extinguish it permanently. It is said that her spirit followed the weapon, and while the poem was inscribed, she entered the blade. Since the warlord's passions had betrayed her, she would ensure that they became his downfall as well. The sword seemed all the finer after her death, a fact only to e explained by her spirit's strength guiding it. But her will exerts itself from within the sword. She drove the sword's first master mad with rage and jealousy until he could no longer control himself. The urges within him took over, and he died senselessly in a duel. He drunkenly accused another noble of sleeping with one of his favorite whores, and was cut down in the street, too blind with hate for his sword to find its mark.
Since that time, the weapon has changed hands many times, almost never peacefully. Usually after her master has brought about his own ruin through foolish actions taken over some perceived slight or insult.
