So tg, I watched Fellowship of the Ring last night for the first time in ages and one question came up that I didn't get an answer to: Is Sauron an elf?
Pic only tangentially related

Five seconds.
Five fucking seconds on google would have answered this question you iluvatar-forsaken dickweed.

Hes an angel.
A small problem has arisen with your experimental field, or rather, not so much a problem as an observation. Wild birds seem to have taken a liking to so much free food in one place and routinely raid the seeds and saplings. Ebba and Sera have made a game of chasing them off, but you can't help but feel this is again something the wolves could solve. But how could you go about taming them?
The answer, of course, is simple; food. You take a few scraps and wait near the refuse pile near dusk, when the lean outcasts start sniffing around. You have little success at first, as the wolves keep their distance and flee when you approach - apparently neither brave or desperate enough to attack you so near to your own 'pack'. Over time however, you leave the meat for them to take. It's good food, much better than the cast-offs your clan throws away and they seem to start getting used to it, allowing you to approach a little more each night, although they growl warningly if they think you're going after their meal. One night however, you have an unexpected visitor. Soqed is waiting for you, sitting on a mound in the earth and idly twisting his spear in his hands. He regards you curiously. "What in the world have you been up to?" he asks. He doesn't seem angry, thank goodness, but rather just confused.
Soqed nods towards the runts, who are very definitely keeping a respectable distance; the pack alpha feeds first and they are so far down the food chain it's not even funny. "You've been giving them food? Why? They've not done anything for you and can't do anything. The only reason I'm not insulted is that the rest of your pack are still leaving me meat when they return from their hunts. But these aren't what I am - they aren't even part of the pack! So why are you wasting good meat on runts and outcasts?"
>>44174232
How do you answer?
>Explain your plan to tame them
>Say you're feeding them out of pity
>Ask what he cares what you do with your food
>Tell him you're feeding them so they don't get desperate to attack the clan
>Other
Artfag here saddly away from PC so none from me today, though do have another set up.
>>44174297
>Explain your plan to tame them
Even if they're too weak to hunt, they're still able to scare off pests. And then we'll have more food from the plants, which means we'll need less from the hunts, which means we can leave a greater portion of our catch to you. Everyone gets more to eat, in the end.

It's some days before Christmas so of course there's a reason
For trouble to be brewing this holiday season
It looks like old Grinchy is up to no good
And of course, he had to target our neighbourhood
So if you feel like playing heroics and saving the day
You can join us on this little foray
There's some rules to follow but not even a lot
So let's give it an hour or so, then see what we got.
>>44173628
If would be pretty helpful for you to fill out this form
These days heroics are fairly regulated and a bit of paperwork is the norm
So if you think up a name like Prancer or Dancer
Or perhaps the Amazing Hydromancer
You can specify type and talent, and think up a trip
and then have a bout of somewhat heroic showmanship
Application submission.

So, if I understand things correctly; people are angry that the Tau won a campaign at some planet no one cares about and people are angry that the Imperium lost the campaign.
Why does this piss people off?
The Imperium loses all sorts of war campaigns all the time. Sometimes they don't even make it in time to the campaign and it's already over when they get there.
I don't see the problem.

It's the rough equivalent of North Korea invading and capturing both South Korea AND Japan...while there was an active US military force present, and without Chinese support.

"What is "a lot of fucking Elves in Tolkien?" Alex?
I mean, they had an incredible amount of arrogance and hubris at more than one point, but if they weren't dealing with what they had to deal with, Middle Earth would still be owned by Elves. None of the other races realistically would have gotten a chance.
As it is by the time most people are familiar with it is essentially the trail end of the Elvish Apocalypse. Their great cities and heroes are things of the far past, they have won, and lost mighty wars that shook the earth. They have wrought mighty works.
They have lost more than perhaps most anyone who exists in the Third Age can ever possibly hope to aspire to. If not in sheer coverage as Man might, in grace and subtly and beauty.
The cities and works they lost were sublime. As sublime as anything could be and not be in the Far West.
The enemy they fought was virtually the Demiurge by our parlance, and while they lost, they fought (and even wounded him) better than anyone could have. They lost, but you can't win against that, not really. Not if you aren't a God. And it took several of them and literal Ages for him to become weak enough to be confined against his will.

I end the session there and stop telling barbarian player about our future meetings. Change time and meeting place to avoid him.
No, but I've decided at the tabletop that I didn't want to be friends with someone I'd recently met.

Which 2 do you choose as your protectors? They are loyal and they hang out with you. You start out at home with your protectors. Whether you stay there or scram and go into hiding is up to you.

Grievous, predator as allies.
T-1000 and lizard as enemies.
Lizard stands no chance.
T-1000 is easily located. Composition becomes rapidly unusable with each successful strike allies have on him, and his weapons are generally useless. High heat damages the fuck out of t-1000s, after all, and plasma and lasers are hella hot.
Grievous is top tier
T-1000 is very high tier
Predator is very high tier
Slashers are shit tier
Lizard is mid tier
Aliens are low tier
Winter Soldier is between high and very high due to his weapons stockpile
Nuada is also between high and very high
I'd say the best combination is T-1000 and Winter Soldier. I don't care about WS himself but the T-1000 with that stockpile would take out all the others with ease.

You only pick your protectors. The rest will try to kill you.
I'm in the mood to run a western game, but find myself struggling to come up with ideas for what to actually do with it/for a campaign. Specifically, I'm not really sure how to set up the PCs.
D&D has this built in - they are all adventurers. Shadowrun has everyone play as shadowrunners.
The obvious choice is to claim they are all pinkertons, all outlaws, or a particularly large group of bounty hunters.. but it seems really clumsy. I looked at some of the source fiction (movies, books, etc) and I think the wall I hit is that the western is almost always about the journey of one guy, or a pair of guys. You don't typically have a party of 3-5 where they are all on the same "team" in the same way you do for D&D.
Could use some advice
They've all been wronged in some way by the bad guy or his henchmen, and are all out for revenge and end up banding together because of the common cause.
Another possibility, is they were all in the same unit in the Civil war and went AWOL.
You could do an early western game where they're all heading out west for glory, riches and land. Animals, natives and the elements themselves are your major obstacles. Throw in some base building, exploration and etc and bam. If you wanted to go a little more fantastical, add lovecraftian tones with witch doctors, skinwalkers, ghost towns (legit or not), and even abandoned mines leading to places that should remain forgotten.
>select all the cactus
Kek
>the western is almost always about the journey of one guy, or a pair of guys. You don't typically have a party of 3-5 where they are all on the same "team" in the same way you do for D&D.
You're not all that familiar with Westerns, then, considering one of the hallmarks of the genre is titled "The Magnificent Seven."
Oh shit.
I only just now realized the whole 40k Nurgle/Isha thing is just a spin on the old Mesopotamian Ereshkigal/Ishtar myth.
Now, Nurgle's name and certain themes are based on Nergal (god of plague and general devastation), who was Ereshkigal's husband, but otherwise, the role of Nurgle is kinda played by Ereshkigal herself, the goddess of the dead, queen of the underworld, and sister of Ishtar, the fertility goddess and one of the most powerful in the pantheon, much like Isha prior to everything going to shit for the Eldar.
So the story goes, Ishtar started out okay but over time became power-hungry and decadent. There are a number of stories about her exploits, but it came to a head in the famous "Descent of Ishtar" tale, when she tried to take over her sister's domain and reign over birth AND death.
To make a long story very short, her ass gets kicked and she gets held hostage by Ereshkigal and, incidentally, used as a handy experimental subject for various diseases. She is set free only when her consort agrees to be hostage in her place.
So, it equates to Eldar culture's decadent decline and giving birth to Slaanesh, and Isha being permanently lost to them and kept forever in the darkness. Oh, and I guess their entire civilization's downfall, whereas the original myth is just an allegory for the reason winter happens, but it just getting cold and hard to grow crops isn't grimdark enough.
Looking at Isha and Ishtar's name side-by-side, it seems as if all of this ought to have been blindingly obvious. But if it wasn't to you already: Congrats, you are now smarter in comparative (to nerd games) mythology.
That's neat.
Oh damn it's so accurate thanks anon
But where did you get the "hot" part from?
>>44166515

Gameplay seems nice, but nothing thematically catching my eye yet. But seeing them using fairy tales and other bits of folklore I assume they'll eventually pull me in.
Especially if they touch on old Middle East myths and shit.

Interlude: Flowers in Bloom
Starring in the mirror, you grouse as you finish drying off your unusual and often difficult green hair. Quite honestly you hate it and how it has occasion to make you stick out, you much prefer the way your wigs makes you stand out. Satisfied you place the towel on the counter and brush the short strands back and clip them down before wrapping your head in a proper mesh cap to which you will later affix your replacement blonde wig.
Your skin is naturally pale and white, akin to traditional beauty standards unlike the rest of your body. Pinching a bit at your side, you sigh at the very slight excess. No use worrying about that now as you carefully construct your makeup base and the layers on top of it.
Reflecting on your recent dreams as you work, you worry about their meanings. Love, lust, obsession, and death. Death as a dragon, fierce and unleashed to the will of something terrible laughing just behind you. Each time, you never quite make out who it is you die fighting but what you are fighting for is always clear. You love someone who may not love you back, eyes fervently on someone who despises him.
In your dreams you hate her.
Its sad...but not your problem while you are awake.
>>44153432
Looking back at the tanned face ahead of you, you cannot help but smile and apply your eyeliner and decorations. Slipping on a sleeveless loose top that hangs well past your waist, you thank your endowments for helping you conceal the result of your frequent indulgence in snacks and beer. Opting for short shorts and sandals, you carefully secure your wig before bursting forth from the bathroom ready to greet the day and find out more about your roommate’s concert suggestion.
“Took you long enough,” the white haired girl grumbles, “Hogging the bathroom for over an hour,”
“Ito-san, don’t be mean,” you sniffle as you stride over to your side of the room and begin applying copious bangles and pieces of costume jewelry.
“Mean nothing, Minami-san,” she growls as she walks past you to the lavatory door, “I wish you spent half as much time cleaning up your stuff as you clean yourself,”
“Hmph,” you make a noise and sit on the amount of things on your bed and take out your phone, might as well look up some info on this concert you’ve been asked to attend with her.

Quest Start
Looking down at your root beer float, you decide that it isn’t enough. For this situation you would much prefer something harder. Glancing up at Teal and Moe-chan, you wonder just what you did to deserve this potentially awkward social situation on your horizon.
“I love going to shows!” Moe-chan responds to Teal’s query as both of their eyes fall on you.
You are Mikage Chiba, second year highschool student fifteen years old, formerly you were the third woman to be the magical sailor guardian of love and justice known as Sailor Moon. Now that title belongs to your sister, who you support in secret from the shadows as the enigmatic hero known as Eclipse against dangerous enemies with ties to your parent’s past lives. These matters of course complicate your life, which grows ever more complicated by the day.
Additionally in your free time you are a Ganguro fashion enthusiast, and part of a small local fashion circle using the pseudonym of Miki. This and being Eclipse aren’t your only double identity, and that is what is complicating matters.
Nui Takeda, the leader of your fashion circle who calls herself Teal, is going to a show you are already going to because she blackmailed a student at school into divulging details about his own double life. Learning he was in a band, Nui pressed for more information and instead of a straight answer got an invite to the show with no further details because this boy was too embarrassed to just tell her outright.
The boy in question is named Daigo Endo, and he is the drummer in Yoshi Sakurada’s metal band called The Unrepentant Damned. Yoshi Sakurada is a guy you had a thing with back in middle school and you might have something with again in the future, but right now you are just friends and he invited you to his show after discovering a portion of one another’s secrets.
>>44153478
Namely the secret he keeps about playing metal and having an overblown stage persona, and your secret of being the delinquent street terror urban myth known as the Red Eyed Beast.
...you have way too many secret identities and different personas. However that isn’t the issue.
Now Nui, investigating Endo, is going to this show and has asked you to come with her for moral support. A show you were already going to!
And to further complicate all these complications, Yoshi’s manager isn’t human and now because of you Yoshi knows it. His manager is actually an undead thing, a former soldier from a dead civilization brought back to life as part of a plot to collect and spread negative emotions to yet known ends...who has approached Red Eyed Beast about her coming to see what their organization is all about!
And you were going to go to infiltrate their villainous ranks so you could help your sister and her court, who are the current Sailor Moon and the Sailor Senshi.
...complicated…
“I mean, from the way Sakurada-san played in the gym, it's probably some kind of metal and I’m not sure I’m comfortable with that scene,” Teal explains in an unusual lack of confidence, “Or what to make of Endo-kun being involved in that,”
>Oh, no. I really can’t go to the show.
>I’m already going, but you wouldn’t recognize me
>>Drop the Red Eyes bomb
>I know details about their band, but am sworn to secrecy
>>so you didn’t hear these details from me, got it
>I don’t know anything about what Yoshi and Endo-kun may be doing in their free time
>Sure I’ll go to the show with you
>>I just won’t be done up in Ganguro style
>>We’ll invade the venue as a revolutionary Ganguro Army
>Tell me more about what you sussed out, I recall you being rather obsessed with Endo-kun’s secret.
>Nope out
