I played this game for the first time the other day. I was Dark Elves, against Chaos.
Halftime had two meanings, as half of my team was knocked out by then.

Reconsidering my interest.
>>
>>44493598
Dark elves are very unforgiving to new players, try orcs, humans or dwarves

The game is brutal, if you play elves of any kind you will learn how cruel a +2 roll can be. The first and most important lessons are risk assessment and how to be ok with loss

A bit of a rules question.

I have melira combo down and gain infinite life and then my opponent twins the next turn. I do not die, right? Since my opponent has to declare a number of attackers, say a million, then after he declares the attackers I could gain another million life to keep myself alive.

Am I correct in this?
>>
>>44547237
Seems correct to me. He attacks with a million dudes, you gain a million more life after attackers are declared

In the world of Valaer, the Battle of Tirinia changed everything. That was 680 years ago.

Here lies the human Kingdom of Therindel - less a Kingdom than a confederacy of lordships, duchies, principalities, city-states, et cetera - banded together under the constant threat of attack from the mysterious Wood Elves of the eastern land of Xalfacia. For many centuries, these lords and rulers have bickered amongst each other for the right to succeed the King who fell in battle at Tirinia against the Elves.

And now the Kingdom of Therindel is a veritable hotbed of adventure, riches, and loot to be enjoyed by adventurers from all over the world. From the lost cities of the Elves, to the grand old monsters of old, to the buried treasures of those who came before. All across the region, adventurers seek fortune and glory! From the Great Frozen Patch to the Southern Plains of Vistoria, and across the ocean to foreign lands, adventurers of all shapes and sizes test their mettle here in the Kingdom of Therindel! Where heroes are made and fortune is won!

You are not one of those people.

While you enjoy the adventuring life and traveling the great distances of Therindel, things could be better. There is a town in the middle of disputed territories in Therindel, just north of Vistoria, taking a left off the main highway, west of the Great Frozen Patch, and nestled right on top of the Elder River delta (not to be confused with Delta Town of the Younger River delta). Very few know about this town, and why should they? It’s a one horse town built next to a nearly depleted Diamond mine. It is known as Ohlendorf’s Drift.

You are going there to be their first Town Adventurer in decades.

Several weeks have passed since Miss Sedere arrived on the scene. The town had finally gotten together to dedicate themselves to the building of this port. They had it in the mind that once this port was finished, ships would suddenly come and bring all kinds of business and trade to the town of Ohlendorf’s Drift. You had to admit, you also had that inkling of an idea poking and prodding in your head. It was infectious. It was hope.

“Here, give me that!” It was getting to the point that even miners were skipping work to come help build the port. The Windsors had the lead in directing the construction of the free-floating port. You yourself are manning the rudder on the makeshift barge holding a wooden piledriver. Miss Sedere stated that there was a need to actually drive home the pillars into the ground so that they’d actually stay put. But as you got further from the town, that necessitated spending some wood and rope on building boats just for building the port. Wyborn and Dafne were busy smashing a wood pillar into the ground, water sloshing up everytime they smacked the wood.

“Hey, Miss Sedere?” asks Dafne. Miss Sedere looked over from her notebook at Dafne. “How come water is coming up and splashing us even though we’s doing nothing but hitting the wood?”

“It’s called water displacement,” you say. She tilts her head, confused. “You know when you put ice into a cup of water and the level of it rises?” She nods, slowly, still confused. “Think of it like that. Water isn’t something that disappears when something goes into it, it simply moves around it. Some certain materials also do soak up water as well, but this wood here is simply displacing the water everytime you smack it with the piledriver.”

“Ooooh…” Dafne squints, cocking her head. “So like… water doesn’t like having things in it?”

[1/3]
>>
>>44546903
[2/2]

Miss Sedere sighs, a bit frustrated. “Yes. Water does not like it when things are in it, and endeavors to not touch the thing if at all possible. If you have a cup of water and-” She sighs again, slapping her forehead. “Why am I explaining water displacement theory to a child?”

You look at her, surprised. “You haven’t explained it to me yet.”

“Nor me either,” says Muck as he sits on your shoulder.

Miss Sedere knocks her head gently against the support. “Mercy.”

You walk over to her, smiling proudly. “Ah, don’t worry, Miss Sedere. We’ll… yeah! I mean, come on, we’re making good progress!” You motion over to the port, which is no more than twenty meters away now. “I bet we get this bridge done tonight! All the pontoons are finished too which means we’ll have this port done in no time.”

“It took me two days to explain why pontoons float,” she mutter. “And two more days to explain why air doesn’t sink.” She sighs deeply. “I’m sorry, I must seem condescending. You are doing a lovely job.” She smiles, very tiredly. “It’s just so difficult working with er… I don’t teach a lot so I’m not good with people who are as…” She places her hand on her chest, trying to find the right words.

“You saying we’s stupid?” asks Dafne.

“No!” Miss Sedere immediately blushes, shaking her head. “Absolutely not! You’re not stupid, you’re just- er. You’re-… slow.”

“She’s saying you’re stupid, Dafne,” Wyborn states.

“Shut up, Wyborn!” Dafne slaps Wyborn on the back, squealing in anger.

>Gather the crippled possessed warrior and make the medically adept techpriests and war-medics of the Nox-Vox study it.
>Try to reverse engineer the Necron weapons, make them work with you and your army.

Lying on the floor rested the lifeless body of what once was your friend and fellow companion Nathaniella. In some way her corpse wasn’t completely hers, she had been transformed by the Necrons into a parody of what she once was; her body was twisted and altered into a barely recognizable form that while human in form and shape radiated a disgusting alien aura.

You weren’t exactly sure of what to do with those bodies, they were former loyal humans but now they had been touched by the cold phalanx of the Silent King and even if they were dead their sole existence and presence was a problem. Burying them seemed to be the most respectful option but there was a chance of their bodies having tracking devices inside of them that could be used by more Possessed to reach the location of your hidden base, destroying the bodies by incinerating them in the powerful forges of the Fabricatorium was another possibility but you were scared of how the alien Necrodermis that was covering their bodies would react to the fires, if it ended creating an exothermic chemical reaction it could blew up the entire building and leave you defenseless and without the chance of equipping your army.

Luckily for you one of the attackers wasn’t completely killed and was crippled and maimed instead. Its wounds would have killed a baseline human but this one was somehow still alive, well, calling it alive was maybe incorrect. The Soulless Necrons were a race that had committed the biggest of sins by biotransferring themselves into cold and dead bodies, they weren’t truly dead nor alive and now those Possessed humans seemed to be in a similar state of quantum life and death.

“Get me all the available medics and biologis or artisan specialized techpriests. Call all the work servitors and order them to carry the bodies and their weapons. I want the medics and biologis to study the corpses and the survivor until they find a weakness. Order the Artisans to get the weapons and study a way of unlocking them…I know it is xenotech but we have to discover all its secrets to know how to counter them.” You tell to your closest general, the hotshot pilot Campiní.

It was strange why the Necrons sent altered humans and not their own forces. The possessed humans also weren’t united and seemed to roam the empty city with no real purpose other than killing the survivors. It was almost as if they were toying with you…

You had work to do too. As far as you knew you were the last bastion of resistance in the entire planet and all the territory that you controlled was simply a small underground village. You could always improve the defenses of your base by building a wall or traps around but to do so you would need great quantities of scrap metal and other resources, some techpriests around had been considering the idea of getting a working radio and crafting an antenna dish that could be able to contact with the Space Station that it is orbiting the forge world, some of your prospectors managed to find the blueprints of a heavy tank and even if they were damaged part of your men were already working on compiling all the data. You were their leader now; it was up to you how to guide your army.

>[ DAY 5 of 30: 25 DAYS UNTIL THE ARRIVAL OF THE NAVY AND REINFORCEMENTS ]

>Meet with the psyker Petra and ask her to foresee the future for you.
>See how the tank’s project its going.
>Try to completely reactivate the fabricatorium to its full power to be able to craft flak armor and lasguns for your men.
>Ask for some scribe to make a list of all your forces so far.
>Go out and scavenge the city for food, medicines, scrap metal and anything that could be handy.
>Go out with Campiní and search for a workable vehicle, having such transportation would be incredibly useful.
>Check how the autopsies and biopsy of the defeated Possesed ones go.
>Write in.

I know absolutely nothing about 40k other than some tidbits here and there about lore and how the game works a little bit

But here's the thing

I've heard that the factions have severe power disbalances (i.e. orks are absolute shit) and I'm only interested in ONE faction if I ever want to get into the game and invest money on minis and paint

Tell me about Adepta Sororitas, in a scale from 1 to 10, how good are they mechanically? How do they hold up compared to other factions?

Also is there any particular reason why all space marines look the same save for palette swaps other than "it's easier to make the same model in grey and let the players paint them"?
>>
>>44543617
Theyre all awful, ancient models, Im pretty sure theyre still metal, theyll cost you an arm and a kidney to buy them.

Mechanically I have no idea because nobody actually plays them because nobody hates themselves that much.

Giving them a titan goes against their theme and purpose.

You said you needed a moment to get your breath back, to get your thoughts into some semblance of order. Not long, Joseph had warned you, as if you needed reminding of the dangers of this world.

As if you hadn't already been given a damn good lesson in how dangerous this life can get.

That was, perhaps, an hour ago. Time doesn't have much meaning in a world like this, but the sky has grown ever so slightly darker since you sat down on this shattered rubble, the remains of a once proud edifice of human might, to wait. You waited, and then you waited some more – all the while, fully aware of what you were doing. You weren't trying to think things over, or anything so significant – you were stalling for time, looking for an excuse not to return to the fairy kingdom. Things, you feel, would become real that way – and you want to delay that, for just a few more moments.

Sighing – it's time to face the music – you pull the divine fragment out of your pocket and look at it, turning it over in your hands. It could be mistaken a piece of glass, if you didn't already know what it was capable of doing. Even so, holding it now, you can't help but wonder if it was worth the sacrifices you made to get it.

Petra's wound – her right arm, taken cleanly at the elbow – is a serious one, fatal if not for Gabriel's swift attentions. Even so, with the redhead still clinging to life, you doubt she'll ever be able to fight again. If she had lost her left arm, maybe, but...

Of course, that wasn't the only loss. Cernunnos lost all but one of his warriors – the finest in the fairy kingdom, if he was to be believed – and the sole survivor was mad, his sanity clawed away by a nightmare pursuit through that darkened, cursed forest that Chernobog had made his home. As he had left, returning to his homeland, Cernunnos had seemed unusually taciturn, his shoulders set in an uncommon slump. There won't be any victory feast tonight, that's for sure.

Knowing full well what kind of welcome to expect – not a cheerful one – you rise to your feet and start walking, trudging slowly across blackened, dying moss and slushy snow. Making slow, monotonous progress – almost wishing for a demon to pop up and pick a fight – you make your way back to the heart of the desolate city. Once you see the familiar flames burning atop leering, tilted skyscrapers, you start to feel... more peaceful, perhaps. No happier, certainly, but more peaceful.

Stopping at the gateway, you reach out and let your hand brush against the twisted ironwork, the light squeal of ancient metal grinding together like a razor against your unsettled nerves. Maybe, you murmur to yourself, maybe not. Later, perhaps, but not now. It might be nice to visit Marco again, or even see if you can track down Cassandra. Marco, of course, is still at the Hellfire Club, while Cassandra... East, you imagine, past where Joseph was being imprisoned.

Well, that was messy.

Fortunately, the crowd of people besieging (benevolently, but it's still a siege) your mansion return to their homes, bit by bit, as do, hopefully, the two Immaculate Dragon-Blooded that were trying to break up the crowd in the first place.

That could've ended in a whole lot of violence, but fortunately no one got hurt. Yet.

After returning inside and retelling the story to Tia and Amata (and earning the latter's praise for handling the whole mess "pretty well", her words), you finish your breakfast and go on to give the Steelshard mercenaries their daily training regimen in the mansion's courtyard.

Despite their discipline, the relaxed atmosphere of the Neck and the general feeling of being "on vacation" is making them rather lax.

You can't blame them too much, really. This trip feels like a much-needed rest break for everyone involved, and the best way to recover and regenerate themselves after the battle against Skullstone... brutal both physically and psychologically, for everyone involved.

Of course, thanks to that lost bet with Tia, you're bound to be the only one who's not going to see much rest, or any at all, during this whole trip. Maybe you shouldn't have let her win so easily.

After finally managing to claw your way out of the bedroom and her clutches, you try and consider what your next step would be.

This is where Amata's advice would come in really useful. She's brilliant when it comes to politics and scheming and general.

Which is why you're not quite sure she's taking things seriously herself, when your butler, Regis, informs you that she's apparently out in the streets of Solid Shell, shopping for clothes with Millian.

You glance out of the window. It's about four in the afternoon. The sunlight reflects on the calm sea and the coral rooftops of the city like on a beautiful gemstone.

"...What do we do now?" You mumble, gathering your ideas.

"I know what we do now." Tia suggests, attempting to grab you and drag you back to the bedroom.

"Come on, Tia." You grab the armrests of the sofa you're sitting in and resist her forceful tugs. "I need a break."

"Oh, fine." She rolls her eyes and rolls over the sofa, landing sitting in your lap.

Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Spook%20Quest

A month has passed since we sealed the boggart on Aros farm, mostly filled with the spook drilling more theory into my head rather than any actual jobs. Nothing serious has come for a while, which I suppose explains why spooks charge so much for our work, jobs can be few and far between sometimes.

In between my lessons, my master has also allowed me- though not Kara herself- to try and investigate the runes Letuh had been using on his likely ill advised portal, the one he alleged would take him home. The spook wants to know exactly what kind of spell the combination would create first, and the costs of casting.

“We don’t know where that other one ended up.” He tells me, “Though judging from the magical equipment, he had the help of a witch.” He relaxes a little, “If the spell is benevolent, we might even be able to send the girl home.” He adds.

Still, despite pouring over page after page, I’ve found no trace of anything that mentions portal spells, let alone the runes to cast them. Generations of spooks have contributed to building this library, searching for one obscure spell is like finding hay in a haystack.

But for now, I’ve got another sparring lesson with Alison, the spook approving of the idea, as long as it doesn’t detract from my studies too much. We’ve both been getting better over a few lessons, her wooden cutlass flashing about to meet by blows, each parry earning a satisfied laugh from the girl as she manages to go toe to toe with me.

By the end of the lesson, we’re both sporting a few sore spots, but are even on number of hits, kicking back in the grass to catch our breath, when a noise breaks the humdrum chatter of the village. A score of clattering hooves and loud whinnies coming from the road.

“You hear that?” Alison grins. “Those are warhorses boy-o. Seems we’ve got someone fancy come to visit.” She cranes her neck to peer at the road, but can’t get a very good view from the riverbank, too many trees in the way. “Wanna go take a closer look?” She asks, jumping to her feet, excitement twinkling in her eyes.

apperently it's now pathetic to go one on one with a race literally bred for war.

Lets be honest /tg/: The SoB in their current state are just boring and bland. As the only female only(not really) they have nearly no interesting aspects that arent done better else where in 40k.

The only thing that they really, truly have that makes unique and liked so much is the fact that they ARE woman. Face the facts. If they were simply a group of really pious guys in power armor, nobody would give two flying fucks, would they? Of course not. /tg/ only likes them because "muh fordykay waifus". Oh, and don't forget all those hilarious jokes:
>Le slutty SoB
>Bersekers on their periods lel
>they rape kids, cus religion
>grey knight hats lol
Even for /tg/, thats some shit humor

There is a good reason some people would like Female Space marines over SoB, and thats because they are one dimensional, beyond even marines. They are ALL super duper pious. And compared to marines, where not only is that just ONE flavor, but it is done successfully in many different forms (Black Templar, Ultramarines, Dark Angels)

Now, I will admit, this is partially due to their lack of fluff. Because they arent expanded on, they're pretty lack luster. When Necrons have more diversity in their faction than the SoB, you've fucked up. Not to mention their atrocious models and cost.

But, it seems pretty obvious that for some reason, you all are obsessed with this shitty faction, and instead of allowing more focus to be put on the females of OTHER factions, or adding girls to these factions, you put all focus on this lame one simply because they're your go to waifu. Well, its time to cut them loose. Just accept the fact they'll never get updates, and that every other faction is better.

Even the in universe reason for them to exist is a shitty one, and basically amounts to a really stupid get around.

In summery, the SoB are crap and dont deserve anywhere near the praise they get. No wonder GW wants to scrap them.

SoB only need more diverse units and better looking plastic models.

Their theme is no more boring than any other faction. If you find SoB boring, they aren't the faction for you. Don't try to turn them into something they're not.

>the only portrayed militant arm of the church
>hurr they're too pious

Are you retarded? That's their entire point. Next you're going to say all the AdMech guys and techpriests are too obsessed with technology or the Imperial priests are too zealous.

Saying SoB are too pious is like saying space marines are too super human and power armor clad.

In faith that's true but they actually have pretty diverse branches in terms of their role in the Imperium. Which is helpful if you consider them the militant arm of the Ordo Hereticus (secretly or otherwise) because it gives them an in at every level of Imperial society and the Hereticus can't always fight as openly as the other two Ordos often can.

Sh-Should I back out of this caster edition madness?

There's no cost to Scribe spells anon.

When he says all books allowed, does he mean *all* books or just all official books?
