Not a bad thing desu as long as they don't continue with whatever the fuck the last expansion for DoW2 did.

I preferred the vanilla + expansion campaigns because they were more freeform in nature, and the equipment drop system was neat.

Just Imagine a farseer seeing M45. They see a world totally at peace, humans having having let go of their hate, Eldar that have abandoned arrogance and working with other races without deceit, and Tau free of the ethereals and castes. The farseer then sees the Emperor of Mankind and Isha ruling the galaxy as a couple and that inter species relationships are common. The horror.

Was with you right up till that.

A political marriage between the Emperor and the High Priestess of Isha, as a stand in for Isha, is all right and dandy but don't take it too far.

Drop that ans have the Chaos Gods gradually, between 41st and 45th millennium gradually shift and mutate so that their more positive aspects become dominant could be good.

How do I damage the PCs to add weight to combat so the players take it more seriously without being a dick and penalizing them so much they will start cheesing it? They're beginners and the system is 5e but I'm thinking about something less mechanical and universal.

Perhaps a scar that aches ever so often or grabs the attention of the NPCs?

Post your

>Name of kingdom
>Color
>Starting loc
>Race (choose one from the start, at OP's discretion you can later incorporate others)

NAPs and alliances are at the players own discretions, but breaking either gives an "oatbreaker" penalty (-4t per roll as your troops feel disspirited fighting for you, and vice versa for any enemy).

Sillyness is strongly discouraged, while roleplaying is highly ENCOURAGED.

Kingdom bonuses are as follows (you only get them if you hold the entire thing):
High Rock: +4t
Hammerfell: +5t
Skyrim: +5t
Cyrodiil: +8t
Morrowind: +6t
Solstheim: +2t
Summerset Isles: +6t
Valenwood: +4t
Elsewyr: +4t
Black Marsh: +4t

Skyrim gets a defensive terrain bonus from it's mountains, which means that when passing into skyrim all rolls are halved, but once inside the rolls are normal.

Black marsh gets a defensive bonus/hamper in which everyone except argonians gets halved rolls within it due to the heavy marshlands. This also includes defenders if they are not argonians.

Players cannot start in the imperial city, or any of the regions directly surrounding it, but can still start in areas that are behind atleast one other region.

Anyone who holds the imperial city can use their turn to form the Empire and thereby gets a +6t bonus to every roll. The empire can be crushed if the imperial city is captured, which gives the previous holder of the empire a -3t. The empire then has a cooldown of 3 turns before it can be created again by anyone who holds all parts of the imperial city. The debuff also removes itself after those 3 turns.

Keep track of your own bonuses in your names, I won't bother with doing it for you.

OP's word is law, but please feel free to question me.

Forgot to mention, when you conquer an entire kingdom you get to create that kingdom. Say, if I conquer all of High Rock, I can call myself king of High Rock, which will give me +1t/turn as long as I hold all provinces within that kingdom. You can only be king of one kingdom at a time and it can be usurped if someone else holds >50% of the kingdom. If your kingdom is usurped, you cannot create another one for 2 turns.
>>
Oooh, ooh, I am just spurting with ideas today. Race bonuses:

Nords: "Jorrvaskr": Can call on the companions once per thread to autowin one battle against an enemy
Imperials: "Golden tongues": Can force an NAP with one player each thread. If they themselves break this NAP, they don't only get the debuf but can also never use the ability again.
Orsimer: "Berserkers": The Orcs can apply a morale-debuff to one of their enemies once every three turns with -2t. They have to be at war with them.
Altmer: "Aldmeri Pride": Can break an NAP without taking debuffs once per thread.
Argonians: "Swamp-Race": Can move as explained in OP within the Black Marsh
Bosmer: "With the wilds": Can ambush enemies that are atleast 3ts away in a surprise attack, taking a maximum of 5ts. Can do this once per thread.
Breton: "The force of magic": Can use their superior magic for a +4t buff every third turn.
Dunmer: "Morag Tong": Can assassinate opponents once every 5th turn, causing that opponent to be able to act during that turn.
Redguard: "Sea Heritage": Can cross sea without restrictions, except for crazy distancess. (At my discretion).
Khajiit: "Skooma": Can affect any other kingdom with "skooma" once every 5 turns, which leads to that kingdom getting a -2t debuff until the crime ring is dealt with with a roll of 4 or higher.

I've asked here and elsewhere what people would like to see and have collected said results in the following wall o test. Curious to see what has the most demand:

Part 1:

A Swords and Planets game.
Pros: It hasn't been done much, and I'm vaguely knowledgeable about the genre.
Cons: The genre is so old it's nothing but cliché, and modern audiences might find it somewhat offensive. I'd also be sorely tempted to subvert the genre which would offend purists.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit with the Toons as corrupting Mythos like entities
Pros: No one has ever done this.
Cons: There's a reason no one has done this, i.e. mixing real life people with toon physics is a bitch to design.

Mothers Against Dungeon Delvers: D&D spoof where in you play token mooks, lab assistants, peons, dungeon guards etc. You have unionized, and you have suddenly gained political power via said unions, and are now protesting the ways in which speciesist adventurers murder your people who fill an important economical niche.
Pros: It's absurdist humor, which I do well at.
Cons: Perceived (or actual) political subtext might make people bitchy.

The Stone Age, which potentially covers hundreds of thousands of years.
Pros: No one is doing it (edit: turns out thats wrong, there's a few)
Cons: If I do it seriously it will require lots of research, and would pretty much be a brutal survival horror game with high mortality rate. If I go for comedy there's a game already filling that niche.

A Buddy Cop game
Pros: No one is doing it.
Cons: Not sure if there's an audience yet, and I know crap about law enforcement.

Pros: No one is doing it.
Cons: Not sure if there's an audience yet, and I know crap about law enforcement.

Battle Royale: The PC's wake in an isolated area and told to murder one another without knowing why.
Pros: Would be easy to do, huge fan of the movie
Cons: Not sure how much replay value it has.

Old People: D&D spoof about geriatric retired adventurers who are once again thrust into events beyond their control and must rely on experience and wisdom to make it through (cause it's all they got left).
Pros: Also humor, and unique.
Cons: audience?
>>
Poker with the Elder Gods: Retired Investigators hold a regular Saturday night poker game, which is crashed by the Elder Gods who wish to show grudging respect for the old guys who regularly busted up their cults over the years. Shub-Niggurath is dangerously horny, Yog-Sothoth is a cheating bastard since he exists everywhere simultaneously, and everyone worries about Azathoth. The comfy chair you put him in near the fireplace and smooth contemporary jazz music won't keep him asleep forever.
Pros: It's funny, I love it, and there's nothing else like it. Plus I can go deadlands and make the game mechanics poker based
Cons: Really not so much an rpg as a card game.

Kitteh: The Pandering-Spoof of white wolf games about the adventures of cats in their never ending quest for world domination, while trying to prevent their servants (humans) from being offed by the bad guys.
Pros: I love cat humor, and am knowledgeable on this subject.
Cons: There are other cat based games out there and white wolf might sue my ass off.

Fantasy Wrestling: The wwe with dwarves and such. Players are wrestlers who fight evil on the rasslin circuit.
Pros: There are several popular games around that I might be able to make this a supplement for, and I know the subject well.
Cons: Not sure there are any,

Cultist Wrestling Federation: Various cultists compete in single combat for the attention of their respective deities after the Old Ones awake and take over. Plus the usual behind the scenes whackiness, Think of it as a horrifying satire of the old Lucha films with cthulhu.
Pros: I know both wrasslin and the mythos well, and again I could make this a world setting for an existing game.
Cons: Not sure there are any,
>>
Mobsters: Play a 1920's gangster mob.
Pros: It's almost unique. Could also have tons of expansions on playing gangs in various time settings and periods.
Con: Not sure if I know enough on the subject to pull it off, and not sure of demand. Also may piss off actual gangsters if I do a modern version...

The Carburetor Gods are Angry: Mad max/Car Wars style game in which the post apocalyptic world is ruled by the merciless carburetor gods who demand sacrifices to fuel/repair your vehicles.
Pros: it would be in demand
Cons: The supernatural aspect may turn off some genre purists

Monster Cops: Humans are an alien creations and most of us have a time bomb in our DNA waiting to go off that turns us into bioweapons (monsters). Governments and corporations the world over race to understand and control this phenomenon, while you as cops must deal with the day to day problem of homicidal monsters, and potentially becoming one yourself.
Pros: Could be nifty, no one's done it.
Cons: Is a lil too close to the Guyver/Bubblegum Crisis in concept.

Hey /tg/

Sorry if this thread is too gay, but I thought perhaps some of you might have experience of this. Feel free to call me a faggot, I think I probably deserve that.

I finished up GMing an Only War session for some of my friends overseas via roll20 and they really enjoyed it. Though it was a little difficult for me with the time difference, as well as being a first time GM, everyone enjoyed it a lot and I felt pretty proud of myself. After that some more people joined the group and we decided that our next adventure would be in Dark Heresy, I gave myself two weeks to set up a basic homemade adventure and help the party set up their characters (only two of the five have played RPGs before, not counting the short Only War session).

The problem comes at this part, I've been dealing with diagnosed depression for a while now and something about setting all this up has caused it to flare up and become almost unmanageable. I have no idea why, I'm not sure I can really go through with it at this point. Everyone is excited to play and I don't want to let people down, some of them have put a lot of genuine effort into their characters.

Have any of you had an experience like this? If so any advice would be appreciated, if not just let this thread 404.

Thanks anons.

Sometimes you just need to take a break from GMing.

Send your players a message saying that you can't make it next session because you aren't feeling well (which is the truth). Or tell them about your depression.

Maybe talk to your doctor/psychiatrist about this. They will be able to give you help that we can't.

Your health should come before playing a game. As fun as it can be and as disappointed as they may be, you owe it to yourself to take care of yourself.

Take a break, talk with your psychiatrist and therapist about it, and see how you can go forward from there with your mental health in mind.

And if you don't have a psychiatrist and a therapist: get a psychiatrist and a therapist. Depression is no joke, from personal experience.

I get anxiety / depression about gaming quite frequently.

I find that the best thing that works for me is to start building, whether I'm typing out scratch notes or copy-pasting doors into a dungeon, just doing something to feel like I'm putting work down, that feeling of forward progress, that's what gets me going.

The hardest part is getting started, procrastination is real, too real, I browse the web for inspiration and end up losing myself for an hour or two while my notes Google Doc is a tab away and totally untouched.

I have a couple steps that help me begin working when caught by depression.

It's a blurred image of what we can assume is what Nahiri is summoning. Could be Emrakul, could be the moon itself. Either way only a few more days.
