No, Blood Ravens doesn't count because THQ made that up.

Sup guys. Firing this thread off real fast after 6 hours of reading a million different topics across 54 tabs tonight high as fuck. I just came across some faggot on youtube who trades $240k worth of Magic the gathering cards a month like a stock broker. Saw some cards worth $30,000 like the black lotus. Was wondering how the market is stable if the cards can be duplicated, since they are produced by a private company and not the government. Couldn't a group of smart chinese dudes replicate the EXACT manufacturing process and make millions selling counterfeit versions? And beyond that, say there are people out there TRULY able to copy the process 100%, it wouldn't even be a fake at that point, it would just be overloading the market and rarity, but I imagine most wouldn't know because the prices online wouldn't reflect any illegal inflation? Someone please tell me this shit is already happening I want some good stories.

The only thing I thought of in the 5 seconds between seeing his video and opening this tab was that maybe the MTG manufacturer prints each rare card with a unique signature (1 specific dot pattern each) that can be verified before purchasing. If they don't do this then holy shit how many millionaires are out there printing MTG cards? Probably printing the equivalent of $10 bills instead of $100's to be safe.

theoretically they could, but it's still not a perfect process. I ordered some fake cards from a chinaman for me and my friends to play high-level modern in kitchen table, I'll see how it turns out

So, I had a thought as it came to numbers in /tg/. Yes, of course, numbers are the bread and butter of nearly everything /tg/-related, but what I want to talk about is those numbers that are 'owned', so to say, by one specific game or style of game.

Take the number 5, for example. When you think of '5' and things that are /tg/-related, I guarantee you that at some point, pic related went into your thoughts. Whether it's MTG or L5R, the number 5 is inextricable with card games. Poker hands are mostly determined by 5-cards, etc.

So, /tg/, what numbers are 'sacred' to other systems? Is the number '20' sacred to RPG's? '6' to wargames?

21 (or 22 if you count the Fool) for tarot, though of course that's just a reflection of 21's symbolic importance, since it's 3*7, a potent combination.

In my current campaign? Exceedingly pissed.
My character spent the first year of our campaign working for the lich who is now our main enemy. One player was kicked from the group, two others wanted to play new characters, and we got two new players so the party dynamic was completely changed. The everone is playing evil or neutral game suddenly gained a paladin, cleric, and ranger who were all different shades of good. So the DM gave me 1 on 1 session to play out why I switched sides and we ran with it from there. If I were to learn that the stupid lich were somehow the good guy after I was forced to switch sides I'd just quit right there.

Normally it wouldn't be so bad, but this scenario would be ridiculous.

>Inflict Eternal Day/Eternal Night on a large area
>Fill the land with eerie and concerning sounds
>In magical settings, remove the ability to use magic in an area, or have the area warp the effects of magic
>Cause anyone not buried with proper burial rituals to rise up as undead
>Cause Earthquakes
>Cause an endless monsoon over an area (as opposed to the stereotypical drought)
>Call down divine thunder (or other lethal medium) to kill a notable leader (preferably a heretical one)
>Transform all dirt and soil into solid rock
>Make the ground a town is situated on sink a hundred feet, causing an entire town to be in a town-sized hole several hundred feet deep

Any of these sound interesting?

>All human and dwarven nobles are lords or kings
>All elven elite are dukes or princes
>Orcs are Warchiefs
>Halflings have provincial mayors
>No one knows who the fuck leads the gnomes

As a general rule, there are very specific ranks of nobility that are only used by specific race in fantasy settings. Do you ever subvert or reinforce this in your campaigns? Would you ever consider a gnomish republic with senators anda President or an orcish empire? Tell me about your nobles and leaders /tg/

>>51763101

"Empire" doesn't necessitate a ruler formally titled Emperor.

As a rule I avoid subversion for subversion's sake. You should always surprise your readers or players, but making drastic and obvious changes to collective mythologies is such a shallow way of doing it.

People generally expect orcs to behave a certain way. I don't really get much from making Venice style merchant lord orcs other than a smug "look at how different I am" satisfaction.
