Something like being involved with music (DAWs, etc), photography, cinema, sculpture or every other form of art or humanities-related topics.
I'm studying engineering but I have (less than) a year to definitely choose what study path to take; the only desire I have in life is to coniugate these 2 passions of mine and to find a way to, if not completely, at least partially integrate one another
Do you have any suggestions/experience about this topic?
>>8494262
only thing I can think about is architecture, you have to know a shit lot of engineering to be able to create good architecture, civil engineering, hvac engineering, mep engineering, materials, crowdflow simulations, parametric design, functional optimisation, etc.
>>8494262
Product design. It doesnt involve a huge amount of math and engineering but it's more infinitely more scientific the arts/humanities and architecture. It has a decent share of electrical/mechanical and materials engineering to it.
>>8494484
False - you draw it and and the builder/engineer figure out how to build it.
What are the prerequisites of Statistical Mechanics?
>>8494085
Probability and Thermodynamics.
>>8494085
Depends on the level. You could study it with
>Classical mechanics
>Probability
>Thermodynamics
But that'll only take you so far, you'll also need quantum mechanics.
Bumping for this. Any good references or starting point for a beginner?
Can doing stomach vacuums like pic related be harmful?
I need to do them to pass bowel movements, but I often feel a sucking feeling in my brain, and a slight tiredness right afterwards. Could expending so much air at once, or compressing my internals like that hurt my brain?
It doesn't seem entirely unlikely because I know getting the air knocked out of you could result in loss of consciousness which obviously can't be good for the brain, and I know that some kids play a game where one does some breathing exercises, and then some other one presses on their chest, and then they lose consciousness briefly and experiences a high. Stomach vacuums share some similarities with these things because they all involve the expending of air, and compression of the body.
tldr; Is doing stomach vacuums making me a brainlet?
>>8492533
I recently started doing them again, I've felt that my bowel movements are much better and I rarely get acid reflux like I use to get. Could just be placebo or broscience though
>>8492542
I completely rely on them for all bowel movements. It feels like I am literally sucking air up my anus which is then used again to propel the contents out.
Bump for your pleasure.
It's a very simple question, but of vital importance. You should be able to answer this.

Depends how fast the water is flowing out the tap
Fast: 1
Slow: 3
Depends on the inlet flowrate, the size of the pipes, the material of the pipes, the elevations of each tank, and the size of the tanks. Too many variables missing. The first 3 can be modeled as a CSTR, while the last can be modeled as a semi-batch reactor.
>>8491890
To many unknowns to say for certain, we don't know what liquid will be coming out of the faucet, we also don't know what planet this is on so gravity could be different and the substance could just float away so it's a stupid question really.
>Can someone tell me the correct scientific definition of time?
it does not really exist . all there is is the everlasting Now
the 4th dimension that goes straight in a vector space of dark energy encumbered by the anti-dark energy which created the singularity for the universe to explode off from
this is like physics 101 dude

>Can someone tell me the correct scientific definition of time?
The little t in the equations. That captures the 'understanding' that physicists have of time, quite nicely.
How is the tropics different in the heat of the sun, that supposedly travels millions of miles here, any different than the northern regions if its just 0.0004% of the distance? Shouldn't it be the same temperature all over during the day? Let me remind you that it makes no difference if there is a tilt, the whole hemisphere is lit up.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOgXN8qRUQI
I guess you're right, OP, it must be the same temperature everywhere in the world. Good thinking.
>>8495712
>Let me remind you that it makes no difference if there is a tilt, the whole hemisphere is lit up.
of course it makes a difference, different parts of the hemisphere get different amounts of sunlight
>>8495717
>it must be the same temperature everywhere in the world
so youre agreeing that the sun isnt million of miles away, instead an estimation using Pythagoras theorem of 3000 miles up and around 32 miles in diameter.

because its false and you're an idiot

um yeah it is.
If all the children at my wife's son's school are vaccinated, why do they not want to accept my unvaccinated son?
They're all vaccinated anyway. What's the hub bub about?
>>8494553
Because the schools know vaccines don't work and your kid will be too smart to be indoctrinated
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herd_immunity
Some children are unable to be vaccinated because of other medical issues and rely on hive immunity to not get sick. Unvaccinated children pose a risk to these children

impossible. Do you really think you can take the brakes off the growth/repair mechanisms and expect things to be alright?
Why aren't we living in a democratic technocracy? Why are we so stupid /sci/?
Because we allow big corporate publishers to hold copyrights to work done 2 centuries ago by people 1 billion times smarter than them.

good one
>bench press 100lbs ten times
>can't bench 1000lbs one time
According to Newtonian physics, this shouldn't be the case. Is this due to relativistic effects?
>>8495186
no, you're just a lanklet
>>8495186
No, it is because of the now confirmed pilot wave interpretation of quantum mechanics.
Particles have waves they sort of ride on and it turns out these waves also have weight. So before newtonian physics measured the mass and weight of particles but did not account for the wave mass and wave weight of the particle.
And what do we know about waves? That they interfere with each other. So the more waves we put together, they more they could weight. In your specific example, lets say that your 100 lb pound weight is made 100 particles and their corresponding waves.
The weight of the particles, plus their waves, plus the weight of the interference is about 200 pounds. You bench press that 10 times so you get 2000 pounds raised.
But now in your 1000 lbs weight you have 1000 particles and their waves, but also you have much, MUCH more interference now. It averages approximately to 2500 lbs.
>>8495186
>According to Newtonian physics, this shouldn't be the case
Total energy may be more-or-less the same but your power output is insufficient, probably atrophy from frogposting all day
>Is this due to relativistic effects?
the only thing vanishingly small here are your gains
Is there any justifiable evidence to try this or am I just drinking piss for no reason?

Is it scientifically possible? Is immortality (true, not the sort of biological immortality some creatures millions of years old have) truly a possible goal not for myself per se, but for humanity? I'm routinely struck with existential crises/panic attacks, and religion hasn't helped quell them one bit. It's this hot rush of sensation to my head, followed by the sensation of impending, irreversable nonexistence and a sudden chill. I'm pretty sure everyone gets them frequently and doesn't tell about them.

Its possible to replicate your your mind in a computer and have an exact replica of you exist indefinitly, but the wetware of your brain as it exists is limited to about 125 years of age, after which your subjective experience will certainly end.

Wetware? Can you elaborate?
