Op here, I was thinking about Nov 14th. That's long enough to gather some ppl who are interested and it lets them time to organise a free day, and if we meet afternoon / after work hours (>implying not only basement dweller nolifers will show up who don't have to worry about time) then the other day is a Saturday so it wont be limited by muh work and everyday activities.

No general film thread?
So, i have been trying out some cheap films here is my experiences i want to share with you so you don't make the same mistake:
Rollei 400s is not even close to being a 400 asa film - i shot 3 films in direct sunlight at f/8 and i got nearly nothing to see
1st film was developed in stock xtol for 12 min -> nothing on the film
2nd film was developed in stock xtol for 17 min -> a little on the film, but not nearly close enough for prints
3rd film got 30 mins on stock xtol -> the negative is thin, differently scanable, but properly would be hard to transfer to paper
FomaPan 400 is not nearly close to being a 400 asa film, more like a 100 or 200.
FomaPan 100 is a really great film, nearly no grain, and even the pictures which was a bit underexposed turned out great.
The pictures if what i could recover from the film developing for 30 mins

I used to shoot with rollei 400s; it looked good stand-developed on rodinal. Not really an ISO 400 film, more like ISO 250, but still very nice.

Did a session with a traveling model last weekend at a shared studio. These digital shots were done with my D700 and either a 105 macro or the 85 1.8 D. Lights were alienbees - some with a parabolic umbrella key + softbox kicker, others with a single gridded beauty dish, and still others with little ambient light and an LED light string.

Realistically.. How much smaller could a 70-200 f/2.8 lens be for mirrorless?
The Sony 70-200 f/4 for the a7 camera seems to be on par size wise to the Canon 70-200 f/4...
I am really interested by this so if anyone has one or has tried one can you let me know? I am just not sure why people want such small camera bodies (a7 series) if the lenses are still so fucking huge.. Who would want an a7 with Canon/Nikon size 70-200 on the front???

Probably within the decade, mirrorless systems will deprecate DSLRs, but it won't actually make a physical difference
The current mirrorless style cameras will then continue to live as the "ultrabooks of cameras". I.e. bad performance and shitty battery life shipped in a small pretty package for normies to eat up raw
Luckily the latter won't completely choke out consumer-level DLSRS, as +300$ cameras will continue to be a market dominated by balding chuby gearfag guys

And this is where you are wrong. EVFs are not magic, it is a simple substitute for a missing optical system. Also sensor integrated PDAF is nowhere near and cannot be as accurate as a complete optical PDAF system. The mirrorbox is here to stay, no matter how deep are your delusions and your superiority complex. But to see all this you need to be educated in engineering and university level of physics. It simply cannot be expected from an average joe to be a smart person.

What's your opinion on the new Sigma lens?
I'm considering getting it as a landscape / astrophotography lens since my 24-70mm f2.8 isn't as wide or as open as I'd like it to be. I was also looking at some of the Samyang / Rokinon primes which were a lot cheaper, but I fear 14mm is too wide, and I don't see much point in getting a 24mm f1.4 since I have that angle already (and I'm going to be doing landscape more than astrophotography so I doubt it's worth it). So, do you think the 20mm f1.4 meets the bill? What do you lenses does /p/ typically use for landscape primes?
PS: I use a Canon 6D
