Is photography sexy or is "sexy photography" just a byproduct of someone that is sexy to begin with?
Allow me to explain.
If I was a girl, and I was crossing some bridge and saw some cute guy fiddling with his camera trying to get a nice shot of the river, I would be fairly turned on.
Is that because there is something sexy about photography?

If you're good looking, then yes it probably would be a turn on for some girls since it shows that you have a hobby / job (whatever you do it for) and some people might find that attractive.
>>2706112
>Is that because there is something sexy about photography?
the act of grabbing images from the world is certainly magical and mysterious, and bitches love mystery.
>>2706112
Dunno lass, I'm trying to imagine a situation in which I find a girl taking photos sexy and it just doesn't click. Same if I'd like men, I feel there's an over abundance of hipster idiots with cameras.
But can see what you mean, just like "musicians"
>Want to get into astrophotography
>I live in England
Will it even be possible in these lighting conditions?
>>2705772
I'm similar, I had an idea to find out the light spectrum that the light pollution is minimum at, and then use intense filtering etc to only observe the sky at that wavelength

No idea if it's helpful, no astro myself
Yeah sure, the strong value of the pound makes travel cheaper for you than nearly anyone else in the world!
Enjoy your holidays :)

How hard is it going from Mirrorless to DSLR?
Am I going to have to relearn how to expose my shots without liveview?
Hello everyone!
I have problems with Sigma 30mm A, front- and missfocus at distances after 2m and i see no way to fix that shit.
1) Camera fix +15 is needed to bring indinity back but any other distances are out of focus now, great. Focusing before 2m works great.
2)Fucking dock-station can provide only 0.3m, 0,4m, 0.6m and infinity marks, great. First three don't need any calibration but when i use the last one, areas from ~ 1-2m are missfocused.
I'm fucking tired from this bastard. Optics and build quality are great, but focus problems really freak me out.

If you're using it on a DSLR, you might need to make use of microadjustment settings, DSLR are picky.
If you're using it on a mirrorless camera, I think you should send it in for service.
>>2704346
a7ii + new firmware.
do it faggot.
>>2704372
I'm using Canon 50D
With camera microadjustment i can get either infinity working or 0.3-2m distance, not both.
Night colors are a total bitch to get down

do any of you make money from your photography, or is it just a hobby?
>>2706100
I do it as a hobby, but I do work on projects around the town I live in. Maybe I'll blog that shit up.
>>2706100
I do it for fun. When I do paid work it's usually not fun, but it feels good knowing my gear paid for itself.
I seriously considered going full time pro some years back. I gave up the idea because, in order to make enough to live, I would have mostly been doing stuff that I don't enjoy.
So now I do what I enjoy and often times I can get it published so I do get some beer money out of it.

how do you do this? i'm too timid and self conscious to stick my huge dslr in front of a strangers face a quickly take a shot.
>>2705635
just ask?
the worst that's gonna happen is the person is gonna be like 'nah i dont want my photo taken'.
>>2705638
guess you don't understand my level of self conscious. i want to take candids of people because i think it can make images more interesting and dynamic. i just need to get over it somehow.
Hey /p/, I'm new here. I was looking to get a video camera to record myself playing piano. I wanted to do something like this last year but the camera I got was a piece of garbage. I was looking at some GoPro stuff but I honestly couldn't decide what was good or not. My price range is $300 at most, I'd appreciate any help or direction to somewhere that could help. Thanks.
I'm not sure about the audio quality of a go pro... you are trying to record music as well as a decent picture right?
>>2705200
I don't want terrible audio quality, just decent. It's not too important because I'll be running my keyboard through my computer and capturing the music through there, then replacing the audio from the video.
It can actually get great audio. I recorded a friends band whole set and used the audio from one of my gopros to overlay on my video. You just need to find the right place to put it.
Let's have a general retouching thread.
I want to escape from mediocrity, so soul destroying critiques are encouraged.

This really.
It's just the next "3D".
Nobody likes 3D movies, they only make movies 3D to distract from the story and becasue everybody is doing it.
Dumping some

what the fuck is she taking a photo of? Sand?
Who here's been in a confrontation before over a shot they took?
I was shooting in Times Square today when a woman and her daughter walked into my frame just as I shot.
Click click click (fucking A6000 shutter).
She turns around and her eyes dart from me to her daughter (who was about 15 as I later found out, but could have easily passed for 18)
Then she screams "You pervert!" and comes charging at me. Everyone turns around to see what's going on and I try to explain she walked into my frame and I did not intentionally take a photo of her or her daughter.
She goes on and on about how that's bullshit and she "knows my type" (I guess she was calling me a thug) that prey on girls.
I offer to delete the picture, and do so in front of her.
She says she's still calling the cops before her daughter drags her away embarrassed.
Worst part is the crowd started jeering in "You fucking sicko," and "You are disgusting!" without even knowing what's going on.
As someone who generally doesn't film people, but rather buildings, cars and nature...I didn't know how to react...
How would you react in such a situation /p/? Anyone had anything similar happen?

I'd probably have tried to cordially explain this to her as you did.
But once she starts screaming shit, I tell her to fuck off, go home and watch her idiotic Hollywood crime fantasies on TV.

Don't delete photos or try to placate lunatics; makes you look guilty
Sorry to hear that happened to you OP.

Kind of agree with this, if nothing else because she doesn't deserve to get her way through bullying. Fuck her.

So how willing are you to taking pictures in bad weather? I was at a marathon this last Friday and Saturday.
Friday was nice, clear skies, no wind. Comfortably high 50s/low 60s deg F
Saturday sucked.
Saturday got 40+mph winds and rain started after it got dark. Not heavy rain, but a enough to get camera and lens wet. It was cold too, maybe lower 50s. I felt kinda bad for the Saturday runners that had to wait forever before they could start running.
That was the first time I ever put my camera through any kind of serious weather. Yesterday, I ordered me a large pistol case and silica gel to keep my lenses in a dry place from meow on.

>>2705736
I didn't stop shooting for a second if you were wondering. Also you didn't answer the question, pleb.
>>2705724
Lower 50s is not cold
I sincerely apologize if this is not for /p/.
Just wondering if anyone can help.
A few years ago, I did this to a few pictures I took with a Nikon D3300 in CS5. I'm trying to do it again and I have no Idea what I did to get that result. Does anyone have a guess what steps I might have taken?
