with the rise of feminism in the infestation of liberals in the art world, photography in particular is riddled with fat sjw's "challenging" society through their works.
when composing an image, what are you trying to communicate? something about you as a person? something about your world view? something about the subject in the photo?
if so, do you ever feel like you're being over dramatic?

I'm having the same problem at least in London in the photo fine art realm. If you're not black or trans or a lesbian or something you're work is just glanced over. This is Anonymous but what I'm considering doing becoming like a cross dressing "trap" just to get my work out there, it's fucked but its going to get me massive do a few shoots pandering to it, grow then change my style up to what I want. I've been struggling for like 2 years.
I'm discontent with the low light performance with my t3i. Looking to upgrade to a 6D but I don't feel as if I take enough pictures to justify the purchase. Now that school is coming to a close and I'll have more time for the summer, I plan on taking a lot more pictures before I ditch the t3i. However I don't just want to go around aimlessly taking pictures. Is there a way I can do this systematically? I was thinking about going to a different neighborhood in my city each time, and taking landscapes/architecture on day and portraits of locals on another day. Any other ideas? Also thoughts on 6D as an upgrade from t3i?

I'm guessing, if pic is related, you're in NYC.
If you can't just go out and find interesting things to shoot in the city or by exploring as far as you can using the NYCT System - then you aren't trying hard enough. Just get out there. Or decide on a theme to work on and do it.
>>2840178

These are a redo of a picture I took with a cellphone a few years ago that I always wished was better, obviously the reflection of the shore and the sky is the main thing tying these together but I actually went a little further with the reflecting theme by horizontally reflecting all of them in processing. Not because it really adds anything to the image for you, but because I find that it helps to look at pictures in a new way when editing. Do you guys have any mental tricks that you use when editing? I know it is fairly common for people to almost finish then leave a picture alone for a few hours and do something else before coming back to it for a fresh look.

Hi, /p/.
I'm going on holiday soon and I was wondering, should I take my camera?
1. I don't like looking like a tourist and sticking out
2. I don't like taking photos of landmarks, I prefer living in the moment
3. It would be nice to have photos of memories
4. Might catch some nice shots
What do you think? Are cameras on holiday for plebs and old people?

So /p/, where are you going, what are you shooting, and what are you using to shoot it with today?
Got off at a random train stop on the edge of some mountains. Hoping to shoot some small town life. Got my Bronica SQ-A loaded with Portra 400 and my Stylus Epic loaded with Gold 400.
>>2838642
oh ur the japan guy with a bronica. cool stuff. wish i had a real forest near myself.

I wish I could leave desu
H-have fun for me with your "old" SQ-A 120 back.
>>2838642
Nothing today. But if I don't have anything to shoot, and the clouds look interesting, I typically go out driving until I find a decent enough looking landscape shot to do a shoot 30 minute timelapse that equates to around 30 seconds worth of video.
I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II with whatever lens fits my needs at the moment.
I've been shooting concerts (got a concert this Monday) and portraiture type work (I've got two girls ready to model for me anytime; just waiting on my 85mm lens) lately, and stopped going out and doing random photography because I've lacked the motivation to. I regret not having said motivation to just to walk around and shoot. I need to find another photographer near me to go shoot with to help push me to get out more.
Here's a link to my timelapses if anyone is interested; just started doing these not too long ago. I really like the outcome, and I'm learning more and more as I do them.
https://vimeo.com/user50801364
By the way, I really dig your Bronica, I've been eyeing a Mamiya RB67 myself, but since I've switched over to digital most of my budget is going towards new lens. I would need to purchase a new film scanner for Medium Format, and Medium Format film holder for my enlarger if I were to buy a Medium Format camera.

I take a mean snapshit
I know I'm garbage right now, but I think I have the eye for it and I'm excited to see what I produce in a couple of years.
My Sony 90mm SEL90M28G FE was in my camera bag when it took a tumble from approximately a 1 ft height. It wasn't severe. It fell from my center arm rest in my car to the floor of the backseat, right on top of the raised middle portion where the drivetrain is. So it's approximately a 1ft fall, and it was in the padded camera bag with other gear.
Ever since, the lens auto-focus motor is constantly churning away when I am on the AF setting. Even when its focused, the motor just keeps making noise and it's making video recording a huge fucking pain in the ass (not using external mic) since there is this bullshit sound in the background now.
If I use manual focus, the sound isn't there.
I know this isn't normal because the lens wasn't doing it when I first got it. All of a sudden it is. And the return period literally expired 2 days ago.
What do I do? Is this piece of shit actually broken already?
bump
>>2836802
If the return policy expired 2 days ago. Call them up and see if they'll still take it, you never know. Or if you could come up with some lie as to how you tried to contact them but couldn't for some reason.
Other than that, you could always try to manually pull focus on video. I do a lot of video, and I would never trust auto focus on the subject. Seriously, just work on your focus pulling, it's a skill you need to have
>>2836829
>$1000 lens breaks
>screw it, you should be using manual focus anyways

If you want a GH4, consider the G7 instead. it costs just 600 bucks, can come bundled with a 600 buck lens for just 250-300 more and has good video options (4k 25fps and 1080p 50fps most notably). But please ask in the Video/Film thread.
