It depends.
depends what kind of person you are, what your goals are.
if you have been self-motivated and self-disciplined enough in the past to get out there and learn / produce something, you probably don't need to go, all the information in the world is available for free online.
if you only really make stuff / learn when you are forced to (like me), and want a dope portfolio and good contacts in photography, then school is a great choice!
>>2830937
No, you'd be better off dumping that 10-50 grand into gear, books, dvds, studio space rental and paying for a makeup artist and for paid models.
You'll end up with a far better portfolio and more equipment and probably know more too (if you actually buy the right training stuff and actually read/watch it)
The one and only situation I could see school being the better value was if you were getting big scholarship or financial aid (from military, etc.) since that kind of money is only available for schooling.
Sup anons,
Going on a 3 week wander, taking my camera obviously, but I'm thinking of picking up a solar charger.
Anyone got experience? I need it to be able to charge 7.2v, otherwise even it trickle chargers over a day no worries as I have multiple batteries.

great for mirrorless
When I go out there for a week or two I just take a bunch of fully charged 3rd party batteries.
>>2831125
I shoot Fuji X, I have 2 batteries and can borrow a third. A battery lasts me 1-2 day of shooting. I'm out for 3 weeks. No way am I packing 10+ batteries.
I was thinking Powercharger Solargorilla, but it only puts out 300 mah on a sunny day, so roughly 6 hours to charge a Fuji X battery.
The only 'issue' is that it's not got a battery to store the charge unlike other models, but at 50£ it's not bad!
If you have questions about a new camera, what lenses to buy and anything related to gear or wondering about getting into photography, post it in this thread.
Do not attempt to make a new thread for your new Rabal, broken glass and being new.
No pointless (brand) arguments and dickwaving allowed! You have been warned!
I repeat, ANYTHING GEAR RELATED goes in here!
And don't forget, be polite!

Canon can't sensor
Pentax can't modern lens lineup
Sony can't lenses
Fuji can't video
Olympus can't market penetration
Panasonic can't body ergonomics
Daily reminder that all cameras are shit, you should just shit post on 4chan.

Or you could just walk outside to take some photos instead of busting your anus on such pointless nonsense.
>>2830781
>Nikon can't customer service
Nikon pro service is one recognized as one of the best.
>Canon can't sensor
Still produces the best images and wins most world press photo awards.
>Pentax can't modern lens lineup
Best aps-c line-up.
>Sony can't lenses
Best performing optic lenses.
>Fuji can't video
photography
>Olympus can't market penetration
For a while the OMD sold great and became pretty ubiquitous. I think their customers just gravitate toward fast pace technology advancement so they jumped ship to sony.
>Panasonic can't body ergonomics
Never heard this before.
>not being a fanboy of a dead camera company
Never hear anybody complain about them.
Buying a camera for its sensor is like buying a car for its motor
Nobody except you and people who have done the same will give a shit, what's important is when and with whom you used it to fulfill your vision
Think back, think back to that one picture you took, maybe you didn't even particularly care about photography back then, maybe you took a noisy ass picture on a sony ericsson flip phone.
Now, would the picture be cleaner on a Sony A7sII at 128.000 ISO? Could you have counted all the pixels in the light that lit up in her eyes if you would have shot it with a D810? Would it be a little less blurry if your lens had a red ring and IS? Would it be more easily readable if his face was in the upper half and the dominant eye lined up with the middle?
Yes, yes to all of them.
But, in the end, does it even really matter? Do these features, do photographic rules really enhance the existence you captured?
"Photography is a secondary thing, because actual objects are true and photography is a lie and a merely a copy of reality. Existence comes first. So you don’t have to make a big deal about photography."

Anyone else trying film stock as film for their 35mm shooting?
Most difficult part is the dreaded rem jet removal. Usually you should use baking soda or borax. Tried (by accident) household bleach gel today and it removes the rem stuff like nothing.
Could this bleach washing damage the emulsion side of the film?
>>2829066
You already bleached it, develop it and see.
>>2829071
I dont develop. I was intending this as a prewash before shooting it.
Motion pickture film as still film is shit, they only reason it looks clear in movies is because of grain doubling, where one of crystals doesn't capture something the others on the next frame will and it looks clear

It was shot with a Nikon D3200. Most shots with an 18-55 mm lens, but one of them with my 55-200 mm. I agree. I don't have much of an eye for balancing light and such.
