I'm finding the branch in front of her is distracting, otherwise it's nice.

I'm pretty disappointed in the lighting, granted it was during the afternoon, my homemade reflector didn't work out very much.
>>2827322
Yea there should be more light on her face. It's an otherwise nice photo, in my opinion.
Is it possible to do "live view recording" with the a6300?
The preview I get through the viewfinder when I set the exposure to 30+ seconds is fantastic and is how I want my video to appear...but obviously I can't set an exposure for a video.
So how do I do this? Am I supposed to capture the viewfinder output somehow? or does sony have a feature in the camera to record the video like that

It's almost like people who come to look at photos don't give a fuck about what pile of plastic you were holding when you took it...
Do you like a bad meal more if you know the chef used a really expensive oven to cook it?
Are you less upset when your car breaks down when you know that the factory where it was built was really clean and had really nice robots?
Stop looking at what you were holding when you took your most liked photo, and in stead, put energy into thinking about what you were pointing the camera at when you took your most liked photo.
Flickr is all about the irony. Nearly as bad - almost all my most popular photos are sooc, or jpegs pp'd in Snapseed or iPhoto.
Is there a guide or something to work this thing out?
I recently bought a Quantaray 75 - 200mm 2.8 for my D700 and I love it but it's so difficult to know when the picture is in focus or not by looking in the viewfinder!
Suggestions?

Live view.
The focus indicator icon is also useful and usually works.
There is the option to replace the viewfinder mirror with a split-prism one, like they had on the old manual SLRs. However, KatzEye is dead and I'm not knowledgable enough to know if anyone still makes such mirrors.
Your best bet without modifying your camera is using life view and zooming in
The D700 has the round eyepiece that takes D3 eyepieces, right? You can try a DK-17 or whatever it's called. I borrowed a Zeiss 2/100 and DK-17 from a friend once, and it was a piece of cake to focus on my D3S.
If you have questions about a new camera, what lenses to buy and anything related to gear or wondering about getting into photography, post it in this thread.
Do not attempt to make a new thread for your new Rabal, broken glass and being new.
No pointless (brand) arguments and dickwaving allowed! You have been warned!
I repeat, ANYTHING GEAR RELATED goes in here!
And don't forget, be polite!

What cameras are the best option right now for shooting with vintage glasses?
Im thinking about fuji and sony right now but would welcome any advice.
*repost from last thread
Any tips for shooting in low income / decadent areas, /p/?
I was testing out my new Lumix on a slightly older are of town. Long story short, was approached, threatened and almost robbed by four negro fellas for accidentally filming their car while it drove by, it was only by luck that a decent amount of people approached us and broke them off me. The fuckers made me loose my lens hood too.
How do I not get fucking stabbed and killed for wanting to shoot shoddy neighborhoods? Perhaps bringing a friend along next time could help?

>>2840038
Well, shit, I guess bringing at least another person along would be better than nothing. Not sure if that would be a sufficient condition though.
NOT YOUR LENSE HOOD !
Lads what do you do if you take a picture of someone in public and they threaten to beat you up?
>>2839872
Shoot them dead like a dog in the street.
fight them or run away if they're bigger than you
>>2839872
Act cool. Explain what you're doing and offer to delete the image if they want you to.
Is this a meme? Most of these pictures are utter garbage/snapshots. Is it just me? Do I not see the 4+ years of work in these "phenomenal" art pieces?

Still not cheaper (and sharper) Than the Pentax DA 50mm f/1.8. Or the FA 50mm f/1.7. Or the FA 50mm f/1.4.
What's the point? You can get the 50/1.8D for $100 already. No need for chink shit.

God, so many, for so many reasons...
Probably my most disappointing:
Accidentally factory reset my camera (it had stuff on it in my bag and the button combo was pressed) so when I stumbled across a short eared owl just after sundown, I ended up shooting it completely wrong, and in JPEG Basic.
I just fucking deleted them all once I realized.
Another time, it was just too dark to capture a goshawk as it flew directly toward me. Frame was filled and everything.
That's life, though. And also what makes getting a really good shot so rewarding.
I got about 8 shots of this heron in the air and only one was in focus, but the wings were covering its head. O well, hopefully I'll get a second chance, this time more prepared with better framing, etc., too.

Su/p/.
I remember this site that collected images from other sites like flickr etc, to compare the cameras and lenses..
So if you wanted to see images made by a specific camera with a specific lens, it was really easy to find it.
Anyone know what I'm talking about?
>>2844358
No duh

Orange is better because Apple sucks.
Thanks, very helpful, guys.
What would you consider to be the best open-source or freeware video editing software?
I am lost and out of touch with the world of video editing.
The only thing coming to mind is lightworks which isn't completely free but lets you do a lot without paying for the full package, it also lets you rent the professional version so I was able to pay a few bucks for one month with it to see if I would like it enough to consider buying outright
>>2843527
Who the fuck cant afford $10 a month? You can literally pay month by month and cancel at any time if needed.
>>2843582
I cant
