Area has tons of great trails with great views. Look around at Linville Falls has tons of great trails. Go up on the Blue Ridge Park way and you find trail after trail. Price Lake has a nice little loop around it that I recommend.

If you go up on the AT by Bradley Gap it has amazing views and they have long horn cattle herd in the area you can go check out.

Grandfather Mountain can be cool but it's touristy as fuck. With so many great trails around you have no reason to go if your just looking for great views and hiking

Its $3 in December and April if you live, work, or goto school in Avery or any surrounding county.

Also check out hawks bill / table rock side of linvile gorge. Or the fire tower at moses h cone manor park. Or the cranberry iron mines of you want to die.

I'm going to head up by the Profile Trail from Linville. I e-mailed the Grandfather Mtn peeps and they said as long as you don't use their toll road they don't care what you do.

My buddy kind of wants to do touristy stuff, so I don't mind. I have every day to explore other things in WNC.

Only thing you can do is catch them in the act with trail cams or something and take them to court. Downside is they'll hate you for it. Perhaps offer peace and just ask that they ask for permission when they use your property and tell them not to damage anything or shoot/hunt on it without your permission. Hopefully you haven't already gotten combative with them. It's a lot easier to get what you want when you have a friendly relationship with someone.

As long as they stop stealing and damaging shit you really shouldn't care if they're on your property especially because you're not there often. There's no way you're going to stop them all together. The best you can hope for is a friendly agreement on what is permitted and what isn't while on your property. Unless you're a dick about it, even bubba will respect your property.

I'm something of a sheriff in my little town of Nowhere, Kentucky. Had a woman freaking out about BF a while back. She used to report a lot of stuff being stolen and animals turning up dead. Said she saw it once on the road and that's when I figured I'd look into it.

The area she reported the BF entering on the right side of the road corresponded to a graveled pull-off that had been there for decades and was used to access the lakeshore by people fishing. It had also become something of an unsightly and smelly dump for trash, brush and tree limbs/deadfall all along its length and into the wooded bluff that leads down to the shore. When I stepped out of the car the first time I also realized I was walking on what was more or less a “bone bed”. There was quite a bit of small animal bone spread around the area, mixed with larger remains of deer that (mostly) looked like either roadkill, partial hunt kills or taxidermy remnants (stripped deer skeletons without heads) that had been tossed over the edge of the bluff.

With all of these remains lying around, and with a very direct path to the lakefront there as well, I pretty quickly understood why an animal might eagerly enter the dump, probably on a regular basis, to get easy meals and then make its way back across the road to the heavily-forested area that bounds the lake.

I checked the area out and found some markings that may have been big old footprints but nothing conclusive. I know most people talk about a bad smell or a feeling like you're being watched but I didn't get any of that. I left but she called up all hysterical about a month later so I had to head on out once again to look around.

I arrived back at the sighting area at about 7:30 AM the next day after her call after waking up to what seemed to be the foggiest morning in county history. The lake itself was socked in and not visible at all from the bluff and trail and there was heavy fog and condensation all through. My intention was to just head down the path and quickly collect the cam I set up last time from the tree and head out, so I left the car unlocked and ready to depart. I retrieved the cam and noted it had been tripped three or four times and was anxious to get a look at any pics so I headed straight back up the bluff and heard something pacing me in a large gully about 40 feet to the left. I wasn’t concerned as I’d encountered nothing there at any previous visits, and I also began to dimly hear a nearby conversation between at least 2 men who I believe were on a boat on the lake. I stopped about halfway up the trail and the noises of movement briefly did so as well, then seemed to move off further towards the left in the direction of the voices I heard. I got to the top of the turn-around and didn’t hear any more movement, so I began to put the camera away in the back of the car, a Honda Element with a rear hatch. When I stepped back to shut the hatch, I noted a strong smell that reminded me of a wet dog, but when I stepped back towards the car, just a foot or so, it was hardly detectable. There was a breeze coming from my right at his point and when I stepped back again and shut the rear gate I turned to the right and saw a figure immediately stand straight up about 80 feet away in the treeline by the bridge.

east texas had two giant national forests. coastal texas is free beaches. brazos bend is sort of cool, go on the weekend to get to use the uh telescopes.

west texas has big bend and davis mountains.

panhandle texas has like 4 canyons, palo duro is the gem.

Laundry in a folding bucket. Bio-degradable detergent and dawn dish soap.

I rode my bike to stuff dried as a rode.

To wash pots without wasting too much water:

>if really greasy, add ashes and wipe again

If water isn't an issue, dish soap is probably more conveniant tho.

To clean yourself:

Hell yeah. You don't have to buy a bunch of overpriced Mountain Memehouse. Look for those Knorr pasta dishes. Also the cheap bags of garlic or cheesy mashed potatoes. Or Ramen. You just add boiling water to any of those.

Aside from that, trail mix and candy and whatever protein or granola bars you like. I could hook it up with some Gatorade bars lel.

Ask the other people on the trip what food and what cooking shit they are bringing.

Bring rice/pasta/potatoes, and sauces to go with them. You can take a can or two of spam/tuna/vegetables too if you feel like it.

You can reduce the weight of cans by pre-opening a few in ziplocs, since it wont go bad for a few days (especially in the winter).

Don't forget instant coffee and cereal bars.

Pepperoni and booze are optionnal, but always appreciated.
