I have recently gotten my driver's license but I'm still scared shitless to drive.
What do I do? I have a manual car btw
pic unrelated

Don't drive until you are confident/comfortable.
Driving is more than worrying about yourself, you need to be aware of everything going on around you. If you are scared, you are not going to have the concentration to drive safely.
>>17870789
how do I get confident if I never drive tho?
>>17870780
Keep driving and try pushing yourself out of your comfort zone a little bit at a time.
I started commuting by car last year, I was still scared as fuck of driving and now I happily take my car wherever I go.
It puts the lotion on its skin!!!
MOISTURIZE ME
It drives.
Did anyone care before it put on the mask?
Do people buy Miatas as a compromise between nicer more expensive sports cars and cheaper older used rustier sports cars?
Seems like there was no $20K sports cars for a while. Or do sports car people actually enjoy convertibles?
>>17870618
Miata was designed as compromise to fd, or NA atleast
>>17870618
>do people enjoy things?
Yes in fact
>>17870618
I like both for different reasons.
I'd love to have a convertible I can take for semi spirited rides and nothing really compares to top down cruising for leisurely rides
At the same time I'd kill to send a boosted Infiniti M30 sideways around a track
Of course I could always compromise and throw an LS and a fastback top on a miata and see my doctor twice a week for my never ending erection
Going to tear shit up this afternoon.
Who here drives LA or SoCal?
What roads?

Nice try, LAPD
My father is doing me a solid and buying me a car, a 2012 Focus. I'm responsible for the gas, and more importantly the maintenance. What kind of problems can I expect from a car with ~80k miles on it?
>>17870562
just get a civic for 3k. it's a better car with twice the mileage.
Check when the timing belt was last done, its probably due for one, have the water pump done with it.
Also read reviews from prior owners, especially ones that had more mileage than yours has.

Also join a Ford forum or even a forum dedicated to Ford Focuses. They'll likely have a thread up on what to look out for and if not you can just make a thread asking for advice.
fuck touch faggotry
they're not going anywhere. a lot of new cars still have physical controls while touch is very niche

your optimism is truly admirable

Name 10 cars that are solely touch with zero physical controls
I'm looking at buying a vz commonwhore v6 for a family members first car, but I've only ever played with 5ltr and ecotecs. What should I be looking for on the alloytec 3.6l? I was told something about the timing chain years ago but I'm lost.
>>17869480
Ba/bf is better in every conceivable way.
>>17869555
Not my decision, I'm afraid. I'm just supposed to make sure it's not fucked. I told her to by a ecotec so I'd actually know what I was looking at.
>>17869480
Timing chains were faulty on early Alloytecs (premature guide wear and chain stretch), but fixed on the VE onwards. Any timingchain replacement on a VZ after this period were replaced with later model parts that all but fix the problem. Just check the service history to see if your car has had this replaced, otherwise its a $2000 job.

how
how can anyone live without a car
i just got my license at age 22 and was driving my girlfriends truck around but it's had this overheating issue that's escalated recently and so she's got it parked until Wednesday when it's being taken to a mechanic and if it costs more than 250 to fix it's getting junked. Should i buy it and replace the coolant lines myself? im sick of taking the bus and can't afford my own car.
Isn't the mechanic going to charge you for looking at it? If he's only charging $250 go mow 10 lawns or something
>>17868413
I'm not even sure if it's worth it. it's a 94 ford ranger 2.3L 4cyl. I could definitely swoop it up for 500 but then I'd have to worry about replacing the radiator myself
>>17868449
Replacing a radiator is piss easy.
Just drain the coolant, unbolt the mounts, disconnect and remove the fans and hoses, put the fans on the new radiator and put it in the way you removed it.
It'd be a good idea to replace the hoses while your at it.
Swoop it up, OP.

Who here has only owned a 6 Cylinder car
i guess this happens if you are just 18?
I've only owned i4 and v6 engines. I want to drive an i6.
I'm new to car subs but I have found which subs i want for my budget. I'm gonna run 2 Kicker 10C104's but I'm stuck on what amp to get for them. I don't want to go past 100 for the amp if avoidable. What does /o/ suggest?
>nigger kicker
Just get some Dayton audio subwoofers, they will sound far better.
As for the amp, that's more of a brand thing, most stuff from alpine, Rockford Fosgate, jbl and pioneer are fine
>Wants to run two 300 watt RMS subs
>Wants to cheap out on an amp
You are going to spend at least 100 MINIMUM on the amp, and another 50-70 for quality gauge wire. If you're a retard and pay someone to route all this shit, you're looking at another $150 for an install.
I have a friend for install but if you couldnt tell im not too far into doing research on whats good and whats not in terms of budget i just heard kicker is good mid tier subs for the price but while im here its probably good that i get you guy's opinion on whats good budget and everything im sure most all of you know better than me at the moment
