So a pair of Mexicans have been rummaging through my girlfriend's miata.
We live in an apartment complex, no garage. Her brother caught them fucking with the car, and they ran off. This is the third time. They first stole the radio, and for whatever reason brought it back the next night. Today, in broad daylight, they had the hood open before running away. My primary concern is that they may start fucking with the engine.
What is the best option? I've heard miatas have issues with alarms draining batteries, but aside from staking the car out with a few buddies and some firepower for a citizen's arrest, I can't think of much else.
Also, getting another car isn't financially possible. Is there any way to lock the hood?
go to home depot and buy one of those locks they put on a gate that you can pad lock. drill some holes and mount it up with bolt/nut
alternatively live in texas and shoot them dead
>>14232764
Ohio too
>>14232764
That will protect the engine, but I am a little worried that they'll keep rummaging through the car.

this is why winter tires matter
Every idiot who bangs on about how bad RWD is in the winter then uses summer tires on their FWD/AWD shitboxes in a nutshell.

Or not revving the car like a retard
/o/ please help me. I need a car, these are my conditions. The sticky cars would all fall under #11, and I want a discussion.
1. RWD.
2. NA.
3. 4-Doors preferably.
4. 0-60 in 6 seconds or less.
5. Manual transmission.
6. Decent insurance.
7. Can add a few bolt ons in the future.
8. >=20mpg
9. The big problem... under $5k.
10. Decent looks, but not really important.
11. Not twice the value of the car to maintain.
Thank you <3
>>14232259
>>14232315
I doubt I could find one under 5k. No manual option I don't think, and with the R/T fuel mileage would probably be around 15 :/
>>14232259
0-60 in 6 seconds is doable but hard with the mpg requirements... go for a 4th gen trans am, check it out and make sure it's not fucked. Lt1 is just as good as ls1.
Anyone go from a sports/sporty car to a SUV or truck and not regret it? Thinking about making this move.
>>14232070
Yeah I bought a truck and enjoy driving it. But then again I'm getting too old for sports cars
Your V6 Mustang is not a sports car.
I rekt my knee a few years ago, so manual and low sitting don't work to well for me.
The first car I learned to drive on was a dodge caliber, then I went to a Hummer H2. That was a struggle, but I felt more confident behind the wheels of smaller cars.
Now I've got an older yukon XL (from a grand prix) and it's easy to drive around town.
Good luck with your purchase, OP.
How would a 19-year old who lives with his mom, go from sitting in his room to learning to drive a race car?
>>14230895
Get a descent racing wheel and buy Asseto Corsa
>>14230895
You will never be good enough to be competitive, you missed you chance by not starting in kart racing at a young age. Being very wealthy helps too.
>>14230900
>buy
Not at all.
I rarely use it anyways. In the past month I've maybe used it 5 times, 3 times were for animals crossing the road (Black bear, raccoons, and a beaver), once to alert someone I had arrived, and one was for a bad driver.

to me? Not really i usually find a annoying horn to piss off cunts
Very. I don't go nuts but I like a horn with a good sound. I stuck a small boat horn on my truck. It's a bit loader than stock and it has that honk sound rather than the normal beep.
Last one is at its limit
Shamefully copied from legendary VINbro's threads
>I am able to run VINs and plates. For plates, the plate and state are needed. Plates do work most of the time, but VINs are more reliable.
>Please remove hyphens (dashes) from VINs/plates - unless they happen to be part of a vanity plate. This makes copying and pasting easier.
>I can only run cars in/originally in the USA/Canada. If they've been exported from the USA/Canada, a report with their time here will be available. Not yet sure about imported cars.
>Cars need to be of the 1981 model year or newer. That's when standardized VINs began. Anything older simply cannot be run for a report.
>There are never I(i), O(o), nor Q(q) in VINs. This is to avoid confusion with 1 and 0. So if you are unsure, it is always 1 or 0 (not the case for classic cars, but they cannot be run anyway).
>VINs must be 17 characters exactly. No more, no less.

Mitsubishi Lancer would be my guess.
Why do BMW drivers get such a bad rap?
>>14222524
because they fucking signal only after they change lanes, if they signal at all
>50% of bimmers i've seen on the road fucking lane swerve 3 lanes just to get one car ahead
>the whole "ultimate driving machine" when they're just used to say "hey i have money" by people who don't even like driving
Plus the whole supreme gentleman thing
>>14222541
So it's nothing against the cars, just the drivers?
>>14222541
>>14222735
Yep i hate the drivers
the cars are pretty based RWD i6 turbo who doesnt love that?
Post the best engine for each configuration.
N/A I4: Toyota 2.7L
mazda skyactiv-g 2.0 is better
N/A V8: Voodoo Ford Modular
>inb4 LS
>>14222094
>they didn't put the 2.5 in the ND
I get that they wanted it to be light, but I wish they at least had it as an option, like how the 1.5 is the base engine in asia and yuropoor

what info do you need to do an engine/tranny swap into a car.
I never did anything more complex than rotor/pad swaps but I finally have a garage to work in.
My aunt has an old 83 subaru brat thats been garaged for the last 20 years. The body looks great but it has no engine.
>>14166237
the wiring loom is important as you will want the dash board and ignition barrel working I suppose
also there are problems like the shift linkage and throttle linkage
that is the complex part
the rest is just knowing what parts will fit in the space available
you have a subaru leone yes ?
that being the case an ea 71 or 81 may fit the bill
Why are DOHC and OHV always used in performance vehicles but never SOHC?
Which one is objectively better?
Why not both lol
I think we're nearly to the point where turbos are a clear winner. The lag on modern cars is nearly undetectable.
>>14218649
Personally I think its best if you fill a tank with compressed air and hook that up to the intake. No fancy mechanical shit to fail, and no messing around with air conditioning for your engine.
For the money, is there any brand new car better than the Fiesta ST?
Standard equipment is good too, just a pity that HID or Bixenons arent standard
Buy a Fiesta ST
Strip out rear seats/mats/spare
Get lightweight battery and wheels
Install Mountune MP230 kit
