Yes.

It's not as fun or well equipped that's what. Mazda blew it, they could've stuffed a 3 Skyactiv engine in the 2 and called it a Mazdaspeed2. But they're too busy selling CX3s and CX5s like every Japanese automaker that COULD do it but would rather save showroom space for more profitable crossovers (looking at you Honda)

I'm actually really happy that ours is a 5 door, it kind of justifies the car. Having back doors is incredibly useful even when you don't have people in the back seats, for example I usually put my groceries behind the driver's seat instead of having them fly around the hatch area.

If I wanted a car without back doors, I'd get an actual sports car. The thing that's great about the ST is that it takes everything that makes an everyday econobox good and adds fun factor without any real compromises in practicality.

Appart if you live in tne US, for having tested both I think the Peugeot 208 gti is a better choice.

It has more torque available in the low 1500, it feels way faster day to day.
And it is more comfortable, and it handles just as nicely.
>>
>>14218923
The 86 seats are terrible in comparison. Seating position is not that of a true sports car, but then again, it's only a Fiesta. :)
>>
>>14221394
I really like that green.

I've been looking at the Fiesta ST and Focus ST a lot lately. I like the price on the Fiesta obviously but I like everything else about the Focus more. I'd really like to get a newer (or new) car this year since I'm finally in a spot that I can comfortably do so but now I'm finding out just how hard it is to decide on just one car. In the past I've always just taken what I could afford and was available and made the best of it. I'm also looking at 13-14 Mustang GT possibly.

But focusing on the Fiesta and Focus ST's, is there really any advantage to the Fiesta other than cost? And for the price difference, how much gofast can you get for the Fiesta?
>>
>>14221580
mm, honestly Focus ST1's can be had for the same price as a moderately optioned Fiesta ST.

Fiesta Pros:
Nimble
Small car that feels spacious on the inside
Great gas consumption
Cheap insurance

Cons:
Smaller engine
Less straight line speed

If you invest ~$1,500 in mods you can pretty reliably achieve ~220whp and ~250tq at around 24lbs of boost. Those mods being an accessport, intercooler, catback exhaust, and a pro-tune.

You can also tune with ethanol for a bit of an extra kick.

If you want to put a bit more into the car and go with a big turbo swap, the stock block reliably holds 375whp/375tq, but it's more money and work of course.
>>
>>14213209
Not even remotely
>>
>>14221655
A focus ST or a lightly modded fiesta ST would both eat my sn95 GT alive. I have shit roads that are no fun to zip around. Everything is straight so while I can appreciate tossability, it's not too important to me currently, part of why I was looking at the Focus.

On the other hand, as petty as it sounds I feel like if I got the Focus ST I'd just resent not having an RS, the $10k gap be damned.
>>
>>14221655
>24lbs of boost
>only 220whp
Hahahahahahahahaha
>>
>>14221656
remotely what?
>>
>>14221734
It's like 255hp at the crank in a Fiesta.

10.6/lbs per HP at that ratio, 9.6lbs per lb/ft of tq at 3500 rpms. That puts it in the range of a Mustang GT/Camaro SS.

Here's a video of one playing with an SRT8:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvRR4VZp9ZY

But it's just a Fiesta. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>>
>>14221796

>>
>>14221852

>>
I've never driven a car with 'torque vectoring'. How does it feel compared to having an lsd?
>>
>>14222045
The LSD is purely better, the torque vectoring is a bit weird to get used to.
>>
>>14222076
Will torque vectoring prevent the dreaded one tire fire when doing a burnout? Or are you stuck laying down lonely single skids?

This is very important.
>>
>>14222124
Nah, ESC will but you can turn that to Sport mode or just Off completely.
>>
>>14221580
If you want to DD it the FoST can be pretty annoying because it has a wider turning circle than a mustang even though it's so much smaller. It makes a simple U-Turn into a 3 point turn and parallel parking a massive hassle.
>>
>>14223004
Parallel parking the fiesta is a breeze, you can park in most American spaces and the cars on either side of you generally can't reach your car to ding it with their doors.
>>
>>14221876
>>14221734
>hp/boost
this is as ricer as you can get
>>
>>14222045
Basically you left off the gas to rotate, applying accelerator lessens/stops rotation. So typically you go into a turn hot - no gas -, turn in, car starts to rotate and do a hektik skid m8. A bit of gas pulls it out.
