When I started my newspaper delivery job in 2013, the distribution manager was pretty cool and laid back, having a full staff to work around the warehouse, getting shit together effectively, and keeping the pay fair for the size of the routes and the number of newspapers it gets every week.

She ended up getting fired at the end of 2014 for failing to keep people on two new routes she acquired from another branch.

The publication quickly found a new manager and she was quick in showing us how shitty she was; she lowered our pay and, being one big of a whale, hardly did shit around the warehouse and only had two people try to keep things in order (previous manager had ten).

Our routes used to remain the same size with the previous manager - when a customer ends their subscription, we get a new customer to compensate; the new manager hardly makes any effort, only replacing one customer for every five that cancels.

It's been a little over a year and the manager finally got around in renewing our contracts, making our routes more expensive to run.

You see, since newspaper carriers are considered self-employed, we have to pay for any complaints or expenses toward the routes, which are deducted from our checks before we get them; the cost was low with the previous manager, being $2 per complaint, but the new manager is increasing the costs because she cannot keep people on routes due to the poor pay and training.

Not only that, she has included a new $25 fee because of this.

I'm seriously thinking about leaving that shithole, since I was making $400-$500 and now making $200-$300.

Looks like she's trying to save her own hide by charging the employees more and taking budget cuts.

I used to deliver meds until the owners switched. They were reducing pay per mile so I got the fuck out.

Vote with your feet and leave. Let your former coworkers know that you're doing better after leaving for greener pastures and watch that bitch get kicked to the skids. Alternatively, you could also try to unionize. Perhaps talk to your teamsters local and see if they'll support you in your efforts

Anyone here know about car painting?

I've recently bought a car that I intend to fix up and sell for profit.

There were some rust spots which I've had welded.
But the problem came when I took it to a painter to paint over the spots that had been welded.

I know my car was painted using Hempel - a Norwegian ship enamel, by the original owner a long time ago, because I went back and asked him.
He said he used a brush to do it but I don't see any visible brush strokes.
He's too old to paint now.

The painter from the shop said that I would need to sand blast or chemically strip off all the paint so he could do a complete re-paint of the exterior, because the paints are incompatible. He doesn't want to use Hempel either.
He estimates the whole job to cost over €5000.
He won't do the stripping himself and warned me that there may be more rust or dents hiding under the rest of the paint.
I've spoken to other spray painters and they've basically said the same thing.

Any ideas?

1.)Sell as is and don't worry about the paint

2.)Roll the dice, and try to respray over the fucking weird ass ship enamel and see what happens

3.)Roll the dice, and strip the weird enamel yourself and see what condition the body is in
>>
>>14696201
As someone who's repainted a few cars with his dad (hr did most of the work because I was young and didn't really know what I was doing), I'd say go with #3. Use an orbital sander to take the paint off the body, then hand smooth it down, then prime it, then buy a Chinese knockoff paint gun and paint the body in the same color (an automotive paint store should be able to make the same paint the car came with stock). If you seal off the door gaps, the new paint should blend with the original paint in the gaps/interior well, and it should look good enough for sale. If you want to do it REALLY well (though I suspect you won't because you're just selling it and not making it a show car or anything), you could strip the whole car and paint ALL of it.
>>
>>14696239
I should say, this should cost about $400 for price of paint and sandpaper and other materials, and it might not turn out well if you don't know what you're doing (runs or thin spots). So take those factors into account before you take my advice.

It's marketing. They put safety features into cars so they can a.) avoid lawsuits, and b.) use them to justify increased car prices.

They also tell you that your insurance rates will drop if you buy a safer vehicle (this is true), but they don't tell you the difference is made up in the increased purchase price of the vehicle.
