If the government changed into a Totalitarian(?) government and forced all authority and civilians to drive a single, specific make and model of a car, making it essentially the only car on the road, what car would you choose to be that car and why?
It can be either a car currently in production today, or a discontinued one.
The standards of the vehicle must be equal and superior in everyday, including standards that would meet everyday life and utility standards
There are no luxury cars, all citizens are of the same class
honda civic
Subaru Legacy. The only choice is sedan or wagon.
And why? They do everything.

Hey /o/
I'm normally a pretty in-tune car guy, but when it comes to all matters of practicality sometimes I get a little bit lost
So, I'm going to start working an engineering job soon, and I need a reliable personal transporter to get me to-and-fro cheaply and without incident. I think I'd like a station wagon or hearse like body to so so, something big and roomy with plenty of space in the rear to do what with I need.
I'm thinking of grabbing this 87 lesabre off of craigslist. Is this a bad choice?
https://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/5475560605.html
I really don't like the new small wagons and tauruses and things, and I also don't want to own a SUV, though I might be forced that way because 30 years is fairly old. Do you think that for 2200 this car could provide reliable daily transport with little needing done?
thanks

>>14693970
I'm not sure that is going to be quite large enough for my needs to move shit around like I usually do.
what's your budget?
90s saturn wagons are really good and pretty reliable for the price
alsoo 90s toyota wagons, i think the corolla and camry came as wagons...?
if you want a v8 boat that sounds awesome with the muffler removed, get a buick roadmaster wagon from the 90s
Hey guys, back in october I purchased a 1990 NA miata, and it had serious timing issues. I decided to swap the engine out for a new one from another car. I chose a 1993 donor car and I just had the engine installed a week or so ago.
The shop that did all the labor did it cheaply so I predict that they didn't do all the work right.
I noticed that when I idle, the engine has been getting warm. I just had a shop replace the temperature sensor because they thought that was what was wrong, and now when I idle, the temperature is at 3/4th of the way to hot. It goes down a little bit when I drive but its still higher than just to the left of the dead middle like its supposed to be.
I also have significantly less heat than I used to.
I think its a thermostat issue. Is it possible that they damaged the thermostat when installing the new engine? What would you guys say?
is there a radiator in the car?????
>>14693768
Yes
And the fans work perfectly fine
What's with all of the Miata threads guys
So, one of my friends accidently refueled his 1.4 TSi Scirocco with 92 octane gas in Ukraine. He used up the whole tank, then fueled 95, and now the RPM keeps dropping and increasing.
Has one of the pistons died?
Is it doing it all the time ? Any engine check light on?
>>14693490
He is not driving it, it keeps doing it when he starts is and really black smoke is coming from the exhaust.
92 is still high enough.
I m asking abot the rpm not being stable , cause i hsd the same problem and it was a lambda probe , but in your case it might be something else . Best thing to do is to check it with an OBD reader
What do you listen to during night rides?

Parking isn't an issue with land barges.
>>14692913
Not something I consider outlandish, but I have no real use for an old pick-up truck and I don't have anywhere to park it right now anyway. I still want a nice, clean, Chevy C10 with a mild 350 V8 to cruise around in.
Just saw this today, never seen one before. Is it rare?
>>14692908
Infiniti M30 not really rare, senpai. Pretty much an s13 vert with a ridiculously underpowered v6 which only has about 20hp more than a stock ka24de. Would be cool to see someone pull hektic skids with one
>>14692908
Only seen one in real life.
>>14693183
>S13 vert
You mean R31 vert with V6.
M30 owner here. I tucking love my M30 it's a fun car
Hahahaha, what the actual fuck is this
A pretty good car.
Looks like Citroen C1

Tonight we put aside all our differences for pupper.
Pupper's in a better place now, as many big meaty bones and belly rubs as he wants.

Minimalistic epicness
Nothing special. Accidentally broke my key, so using valet key until I fix it.
>>14692877
Not minimalistic
I'm about to repair my vehicle when I notice it really needs more to fix than just a sensor and a new battery. Sentra 2008 with 86,000 miles btw.
When I really question myself if it's just better to get a new car. I'm really searching for a 25k, reliable and good warranty car. Fun its a plus but not necessary. Which brands or models should I look for?
Pic kinda not related it's just my main habitat
>>14691540
Where I grew up (farm country), people bought a new truck the moment their old truck needed new brakes or a muffler. They were in $1 million of debt on their combines and tractors, so what what's another $50K for a new truck? They didn't care, they were living off corn subsidies.
>>14691555
Cool story, brethen
>>14691555
But I don't live in a farm or need/use a truck, the car it's already paid and need:
Battery
Front struts
A/C motor blower is dying
Airbag light its on (probably the sensor)
Driver seat sounds like an old mattress
Motor ticking
it's on the second transmission
And I haven't checked that noise on the rear brakes which I replaced the bands and pistons 6 months ago
Opinions on 99' Dodge Neon ACR? None of that four door shit.
>>14691313
Based on the fact that you have to ask here, rather than anywhere else on the internet, it's too good for you. And you'd probably end up buying a fake anyway.
But it's a good car for track days and autox. Don't remember if the ACR came with an upgraded differential, but if not, that needs to be addressed immediately after purchase. Otherwise you're going to grenade transmissions more often that you get a haircut.
Google the Motor week review. They loved it when it came out, so its probably still pretty rad.
>>14691313
They're fantastic, assuming its an actual ACR. To my knowledge, the ACR's were manual only. The ACR's dominated their class in SCCA Showroom Stock Racing. Honda, Nissan, and Toyota actually tried to have the car banned from competition when they couldn't compete.
Check out my 87 might max.
Any here?
Small fun trucks thread?
I've been saddened by how little decent cars there are in my area and I'm widening my search to some fun small trucks to start my car tinkering life with
I've mostly been fixed on the d21 hardbody because of easy parts and aftermarket but are there any other trucks that are similar that I should look out for since it's hard to find these not completely rusted out?
>>14691076
Anything but a frd
Im in the market for a little truck. Keep postin for inspiration
