My dad travels nearly 200 miles. He currently has a 2003 Land Cruiser which he bought out of enthusiasm like 5 years back and ever since that car is fucking him in terms of money. Not of the reliability but the awful mpg it gets. He needs a new big SUV. I told him the new Tahoe. He's attracted at the 23mpg the truck's got.

Did I suggest good? What are your opinions on the 2016 Tahoe?

Also, General Tahoe Thread.

Why the fuck does he "need" a big ass SUV? Especially if MPGs are a priority

sup /o/,

I'm going to be moving to Canada soon, and wanted to import my Porsche. Bought in 2010, dealer serviced and all.

How would I go about to check if it complies MVSA?

Thanks

If you care for the costs, it's better you sell it and buy a 911 of the similar type that has been slightly used. There's plenty. Check autotrader.ca or kijiji.ca .
>>
>>14961973
for anything newer than 15 years old, you'll have to make the car meet canadian standards, which is probably very hard and very expensive if it's a non-north american spec vehicle.

I'm driving a hand-me-down 2005 Honda Oddysey because of poverty. Because of my height and a fixed steering wheel, I'm not able to see the speedometer.

On a scale of "pretty simple" to "that's literally impossible and you're an idiot for asking," how complicated would it be to wire in a digital readout to give me my current speed so I don't have to play things by ear?
19 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
If you're too short, sit on a pillow. If you're too tall just break your spine in half ez pz
>>
>>14961821
I would rate it a "pretty simple but costs money."
The best option would be an ultragauge
The cheaper, worse option would be one of those GPS speedometers on Amazon. I'm not sure how well they work
>>
Pretty simple, if you know a little about electronics.

>>14961885
I've used a $100 GPS dashcam to show a pretty accurate reading of my speed, so that one would be the easiest solution

What does it mean if my turn signals are working sporadically? They seem to never work in the mornings, but they always work in the afternoon and at night. The bulbs are fine, and I've replaced the turn signal relay and the fuse, but nothing has changed. The only other thing I can think of is a short somewhere. I'm going to get it looked at soon, but am I possibly overlooking anything?

>>
>>14961643
Fuse issue or short sounds most likely. As the car heats up from the sun the metal expand just that fraction of a millimeter to make the connection?
>>
>>14961643
If you're driving a ford from around the year 2000, or possibly any car, try adjusting the steering wheel to be lower. I had this happen and I thought the car had some gremlins, but it turned out to be something silly. Manufacturers try to save 1/100th of a cent by having their wires be just long enough, but this ends up pulling the wire connection to the blinker relays when the steering wheel is up too high. Try this and tell me if this fixes it.
>>
>>14961726
Well, I drive a 1992 Ford Mustang, so the steering wheel isn't even adjustable. Interesting fix, though.

What are some comfy roads in America? Pic related: the Pennsylvania turnpike. Decent views and pretty empty and no cops so I averaged like 90mph. Also some super fun hills and curves to go fast on.

>>
You do realize America is huge right? I haven't been there but a widely beloved road is called the tail of the dragon between Tennessee and North Carolina.
>>
PA here, the turnpike sucks

i80 sucks too but at least it's not toll and there's a stretch in the middle of the state with a 70mph limit
>>
Deals Gap, lots of decent canyons around LA, Blood Mountain. PCH late at night so no traffic but watch for bored cops with radar guns

How did the culture of selling used cars become the slimy culture that it is?

Was it always this way?

Does anyone ever really sell a car that doesn't have some huge issue they aren't willing to fix?
13 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>14960991
people selling used anything will lie about its condition to make more money off of it.

Sometimes the seller even feels like theyre getting ripped off since they cant sell it for 120% of what they bought it for.
>>
>>14960991
>Does anyone ever really sell a car that doesn't have some huge issue they aren't willing to fix?

Of course they do. There are plenty of well maintained cars with honest sellers out there.
>>
>>14960991
If you're getting rid of something, there has to be a reason. 9 times out of 10 the reason is because the car is a piece of shit. No one will buy a piece of shit if they know it's a piece of shit so you have to make them believe it's not a piece of shit.

Alright someone just posted this shit on a forum. This has to be the biggest scam since the intake turbine shit. It's a "valve cover breather" that replaces your oil cap. This seems like it would only cause issues

>>14960208
lets air in through the oil cap?

seems like an excellent way to lose compression and contaminate the oil
>>
>>14960240
yeah seriously, its like an aftermarket vacuum leak
>>
You've never seen a valve cover breather before?

Granted, they're usually separate from the oil fill cap, but still.

Also why are there no meetups like this in America?

Look around this board. People get pissy as soon as you start talking about speeding around, and this is a car enthusiast board, supposedly. Your average citizen is a docile bread and circus dumbass who hates when others have fun in any way other than sitting inside their own home watching shitty """comedy""" tv shows. Sad really.
