So how did you fail/pass your driving exam, /o/ ?

>Went to the examination place (Regitra).
>Waited my ass off.
>The Anxiety kicking harder than a taekwondo master.
>The instructor comes in, calls out my name.
>I try to shake his hand.
>Gave him the limp-dick shake.
>Fucker squeezed my fingers as hard as he could.
>Great, I got an asshole.
>we went outside and entered the car.
>He tells me to try it out for a bit.
>I do, checking everything important in the process.
>This Ford Focus has the shitiest clutch I ever expierienced.
>Everything else feels a-okay.
>He starts the exam.
>"everything is being recorded, there will be no purposely bad directions given to you etc."
>Starts of asking me about the car, where to check the oil level and optimal amount of air in the tires.
>somehow pass it.
>Next up was turning around in a closed space and a 60 degree angle parking.
>Flawless manouvering on my part.
>Next up is the city driving.
>Driving through the hills.
>going down hill.
>Tried to accelarate in the 4th gear while going >25 k/mh.
>Mistake.
>quick switch to the 3rd and off I go again.
>Nothing noteworthy happens, just really shit roads and traffic.
>some cocksucker left his fucking car in the middle of the road.
>Accelarate and merge into the left lane.
>Instructor marks down a mistake.
>Didnt check the blind spot properly.
>come back to Regitra.
>"You made some mistakes. Didn't turn the blinkers on when starting to move. You were turning to the right while being too far from the curb. You didn't check the blind spots and you chose the wrong gear".
>"Congratulations, you passed".

Thank god we get a maximum of 8 mistakes

My state is like this if you do drivers ed through school, but all the schools cut it because they're broke (thanks republicans).

How juvenile are these?

Like, if I buy this today (I'm 26) and keep it for 10 years (36), will I look juvenile in this?

I like the mustang, but this small overlap test is nothing more than an insurance racket. it will only lead to higher insurance for 2-5 years, then cars will all look even more like angry soap bars.

So I took my car to the mechanic.

Asked him to carry on oil change service, filter & fix the rotor as it's wrapped. He claimed that he machined the rotors.

But in fact... I kept an eye on his stop from far away, recorded the whole 3 hours service.

Oil change took 20 minutes. Then the car took off and speeded away with sudden hard braking from 60 miles to stop few times.

The brakes were find until the wrapped rotor problem came back..

What do you call that? dishonesty?

The dude didn't even take off my tires at all, and the tire lock nuts were at specific torque range value for each tire.. he didn't even do machine them!

They make up shit to get more money.

Usually oil places will remove the wheels to see the condition of the brakes

third, rotors do not warp on regular cars. They get uneven wear caused by debris, sticky calipers, unevenly worn pads, or a ton of other issues. Before you all come saying that rotors warp, google it, and read the results.
>>
>>15148241
How much money were you swindled out of?
>>
OP here.

About for overall $300 dollars.

He said he machined the rotors as they were not even. The brakes were fine until the vibration and shaking returned within 50 miles.

But am sure he didn't machine them, I think he just went to apply hard braking to use the pads to even the rotors.....

Maybe disposible, europoor-recyclable cars ARE the way to go. Think about it.

>most people don't service their cars
>even an extremely well serviced, good quality car that is 15-25 years old will have myriad expensive issues
>old cars tend to be unsafe and bad for the environment

So for your average shitbox, why push up the new car price by over-engineering components that will end up being junked in 10-15 years time regardless? It's better to have the whole car work fine for its expected life, and then just implode around the time that most people would replace their car anyway.

Not everyone can afford a brand new car, and while this may not be a big problem in yurop (public transport, bicycles etc), it is in the US as you pretty much need a car if you want to do just about anything.
>>
>>15147994
just as additional food for thought, here are some components off the top of my head, which will need replacing/rebuilding around the 10 year/200km mark on existing, non-disposable cars.
>oxygen sensors (God help you if you have 4x wideband sensors from factory)
>diesel injector pumps
>DCT, AMT, or some conventional automatic transmissions
>at least some or most of the following: suspension bushes, strut top rubbers engine mounts, rubber driveshaft mounts, CV boots, door and trunk seals, exhaust hangers, etc
>timing belt/chain and water pump
>valve clearances
>rear bank spark plugs on transverse V6s
>most ignition systems need attention around this time
>most turbos will be due for a rebuild sometime soon

Not all of this will apply to every car, but most of it applies to most cars. And I'm assuming we're talking about something mainstream like a toyota or a ford etc. Now, for a dispassionate shitbox, I don't think it's worth doing almost any of those jobs to keep a POS 10-15 year old corolla on the road. So why not make the rest of the car a bit cheaper so it all fails around the same time?
>>
>>15148071
What kind of shit cars do you drive? It's not necessary to replace all those things.
