I'm looking for a fun manual car in socal for $3k or less. Right now I'm looking at Honda preludes but I only found 2 that are type SH. One is $2100 but has 195k miles. The other one is this. 155k miles but it's $3900. What do you guys think? Is the SH worth it?

This is definitely worth it. With the $3k you can get it registered and insured and have money left over to fuck around with it.

Just a regular sentra? Not even an se-r? What's so good about that? I might as well buy a miata or v6 mustang for that price
>>

Non sh are better. Its heavier than the baseolus the sh system isn't that great new. After that many miles its shit and you'll need to get rid of it if you plan on making more power. A traditional LSD is better anyway.

Look for a 4th gen

Anyone know if these things are trash?

I'm looking for an old POS that I can drive into the ground / roadtrip while I rebuild my RX7

>if these things are trash?
They're GM so of course they are.

I can also assure you that if you like sports cars you'll hate every second of driving one since they're absurdly mushy while also being gutless. Unless they're paying you to drive it look elsewhere.
>>
itll be reliable assuming it hasnt been neglected for 20+ years

youre not going to be doing much driving it into the ground tho maybe leisurely strolling at a slow pace

its not going to be enjoyable to drive in any way
>>
>>15161256
This.
Also, if it has the diesel engine, avoid it like the plague. The gasoline engines are decently reliable though.

Where is a good place to practice rev matching with a manual transmission? I also want to learn the heel to toe technique...

I'm finding it hard to practice on most streets
14 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>15161194
Just do it at night when there's nobody around.
Don't do it in neighborhoods, though.
>>
>>15161194
I've also been trying to practice this. Around here, there are plenty of roads that go 55-45-35, so I try to practice rev matching while anticipating the slower speed limit. As for heel-toe, I'm not very comfortable with rev matching yet, but it should be the same process, except you're using the brake to slow down rather than just relying on engine braking to control your speed.
>>
>>15161194
You can practice both in every day driving. You'll need to practice somewhere else for performance driving but you can pick up the basic technique without it.

How can I get the condensation out from the inside of my headlight?

Buying a new car and been looking at CV's and Marquis. Anything I should look for when buying one? Any good alternatives? Hoping to spend around 8k

>>
>>15160538
You might be able to find a higher mileage Marauder for 8k.
>>
>>15160566
$8k would probably get you around the 70-80k mileage range at most if you live on the west coast. I live in Nevada so the most I've seen them go for is $6k at 70k mi-ish.

Also when you check out a panther (CV/Marquis/TownCar) first thing you want to look for is if it squeaks a lot over bumps. Try to test drive one after it rains. If it does squeak, the ball-joints are probably shot and need to be replaced.

Common shit that goes out:

EGR Valves (anything 95+ it's easy to replace)
Window Regulators (pain in the ass with almost any car)
Timing chain rattle (another pain in the ass)
Headliner tearing in the back (can be easily replaced)

Just make sure you get any maintenance receipts, especially transmission flush receipts

Hi /o/, /fit/izen here. Am I a retard? I have a 06 IS350 and im thinking about selling it to get a modded 240sx like pic related or vid related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TBc78UZw2s&t=1m53s

The 350 is way better as a daily and way more practical but I want something lightweight and 500hp with that upswept exhaust to get stupid in.

I'd have to daily this and winter drive it (Chicago)

So yeah, from 1 to retardo how bad an idea is this

Can someone redpill me on longtube headers?

Do they actually increase HP on naturally aspirated setups or are they just snake oil? Is the HP gain largely due to the removal of the cats? What if you go with high flow cats, would it be futile? o/r catless setups are too much for a DD imo. They are a PITA to install and cost at least $600-700 since you need a short mid pipe as well.

Car in question is a 2005 Mustang GT

if you are replacing stock headers then you will most likely see a power increase, and It'll sound a bit better.

They can make a difference over 6000 rpm if in combination with upgraded cams and heads.

This. Otherwise they're just build candy.

How are you supposed to brake when approaching a corner when on a track/driving like a faggot on the touge?

Are you meant to just treat the brake pedal as an on/off switch? Meaning you just get to your braking point for the corner and hammer the brakes on as hard as possible? Or do you slow down gradually from a distance?

Also at what point do you downshift for the turn? It seems like with the way I drive I downshift too early and by the time my (piece of shit) car has climbed the revs high enough to where I can let the clutch out without going through the windscreen, I'm sometimes right ontop of the corner or already on it.

>Are you meant to just treat the brake pedal as an on/off switch? Meaning you just get to your braking point for the corner and hammer the brakes on as hard as possible?
No, you'll lock up if you don't have ABS or will make it rough for yourself.
>Or do you slow down gradually from a distance?
No, you'll lose too much time.
You want a balance, you need to figure out;
>your car's stopping distance
>stopping distance on that particular road surface and temperature
>angle(slope) of the road
>ideal entry speed for the corner
and from this you'll figure out when you should optimally brake and how much you should slow down to take the corner.

Also, don't brake going around the corner, only brake while going in a straight line.

Because some people want to live in simple ignorance while being able to drink their coffee, text, and put on makeup in their shitbox instead of having to shift.

Basically because women. Women that can't afford an expensive automatic.

Why are these cars so dominant?

I need to buy a car soon. It needs to be for daily use and not too expensive. However, I love older cars aesthetically.

Now I REALLY want to own a Jaguar XJ6 (series) some day, but apparently, they aren't that expensive, about ~3000-6000 euros, some in decent condition. However, since these are at least 20-30y old, they are not very efficient in terms of gas and I guess more prone to break down.

Would it be viable to buy a Jaguar XJ6 for daily use, or should I really look at more "younger" cars? Any personal experiences?

With Jaguars it doesn't matter whether you buy an old one or a newer one, they're all unreliable. The best compromise between classic looks and good reliability and running costs is the W124 code Mercedes, or in other words the 1986 to 1996 E-Class. Just make sure to thoroughly check for rust, otherwise they're basically bulletproof.

Alternatively if you're willing to accept slightly lower power and higher fuel consumption in exchange for more vintage looks you can go one generation backwards to the 1976 to 1985 E-Class or W123.
>>
>>15159897

If its your only car, dont buy a 30 yr old for that money. Buy a newer toyota or some shit.
