Have a 2nd kid on the way and the family car is gonna be cramped with 2 car seats. Also need extra seat for grandparents occasionally. I have 20k cash to put down and don't want a minivan. Is this acceptable?

hey /o/ out of work mechanic here. whats better in your opinion, working at a dealership or at a independent shop? my last job was at a dealership but i quit because i was having problems with other employees and the new managers wanted all the old workers out to bring in their own too.
i applied to other dealerships for work again but no luck. i paid a old boss(who was forced into quitting from our old place) of mine a visit to work for him again but i havent heard back from him for 2 months already. he just told me wait for a phone call. i dont even want to call him to catch up because he is a crazy military veteran. my dads friends and some of my own even tell me dont work in a private shop because they rush you to fix a car and work about 10 hours a day, 6 days a week. i friend of mine hated it because he said he didnt have a life working that schedule. they tell me just specialize in one brand.
what do?

Dealerships are all about the same, indy shops vary drastically. How good a dealership is to work at comes down to the service manager/shop foreman, the other techs don't affect your job too much. Small indy shops can be really good or really bad because everyone relies on eachother and any one person can change the environment a lot. Just pursue another career if you aren't in an area where you can pick and choose where you want to work imo.

It's a black 2014 LT. Not exactly a track queen but goddamn is it fun on the highway. I barely dropped below 85 between Minneapolis and Billings. It's a little more sluggish than it otherwise would be because I'm moving and there's hundreds of pounds of boxes and luggage in there.

Here's the scenario.

I went to McDonald's today and got a Filet-O-Fish combo with a bacon cheeseburger on the side. I was eating it in my Miata in the parking lot and listening to an audiobook when I glanced up and saw the McDonald's worker I ordered outside having a cigarette.
She waved at me and I nodded and had to wait 7 minutes before she went back inside and I could eat in comfort again. I don't think that employees should be bothering or even trying to socialize with customers outside of the McDonald's restaurant or drive through, but that is another story.
I went to McDonald's for dinner tonight and got a McChicken combo with a bacon cheeseburger on the side. As I was driving to the second window the same girl was still working. She was acting somewhat obsequious and attempting small talk when she asked, 'why don't you come eat inside instead of in the parking lot where it is cold'.
That really bothered me for many reasons. First of all, I don't want my routine or actions to be tracked by a fast food employee. Secondly, she should not try to tell me how I should live my life. I do not want to eat inside because I find it less comfortable and would much rather be inside my vehicle listening to an audiobook and enjoying myself and my privacy.
Overall, I think it was very unprofessional to bring this up. I should have a clean slate with each drive through visit, not have to get the third degree because I committed some sort of faux pas. Which I don't think I did, because I often see people eating in fast food parking lots. How does she know I am not busy going to work or somewhere in a rush?
How do you feel about eating in your vehicle in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant versus eating inside the restaurant?

What is your guys' opinion on the Toyota Prius? like it, not like it. How it looks, how it drives etc. I'm not quite sure on the /o/ generally consensus because it doesn't get brought up too much (considering you can't really tune it, and its not a race/rally car).

I've never had a Prius, and I never will. I don't have any problems with them, and I respect those who drive them (and don't brag about it). However, I think they're a tad expensive because you could get a regular car for 10,000 dollars cheaper that only has 10 less MPG.
Also not a fan of how the fourth generation looks.

The warranty is good for up to 150k miles, but if anything happens to the battery after that (and it has happened to many people), you're fucked for thousands of dollars, negating any money you might have saved because of the high mpg.
