I don't want to take the valve cover off cause I don't want to replace the gasket thereafter. What do I do to fix this problem?
>>16142060
Also my timing seems to be wandering. I need a consistent answer unto what is going on? Could sticking valves be causing the timing to wander?
>>16142060
What do you mean replace the gasket?
Just put it back and call it a day
>>16142060
depending on the vehicle you may beable to re-use the old gasket. a lot of times the old ones break and fuck right off though.
make/model and what exactally is a "sticky valve" problem?
So we all know 4 valve heads are better than 2 valve heads, hence why OHC is better than OHV, but now that Koenigseggsgegsge has released numbers for their freevalve engine, how are 2 valve and OHV fags recover from this?

2 strokes are obviously superior
ok /o/ I wanna hear your stories about the cheapest car you have ever bought and the fate of the car
I'll start, so a few years back me and my older brother wanted to learn standard, because we both had auto boxes. So my older brother knew the basic of manual from my mom. So summer rolls around, and me and him have been talking about buying a car for like $2k and just learning stick on it. All the cars we look at where either sold or whe parts. So one day one of brother colleagues tells him about a $100 Audi a90 she had on her farm just taking up space. The same day we go there and buy it, and spend like 3 hours figuring out the battery and how to get it out of it, get it out and car was fun, dripped oils vr6 motor, no clutch left, and front suspension collapsed. By the end of summer we have accomplished our goal of learning stick and we sold the car to pick and pull for $127
Here was the last photo of her before we sold it
>>16140490
This is what I want to do but car registration where I live is $800 per year.... And if you get pulled over you have to pay an $800 fine plus the registration
It was spring, year 2011. I was 18 with a fresh license and a burning need to get a car. Alas, I didn't really have money.
So by the powers of the internet I discovered an '82 Nissan Sunny being sold by some shady used car dealer. 250€, what a bargain.
It was rusty, ran on three cylinders, didn't really move when it was rainining and liked to overheat a little bit. But I used it to get to work that summer. Despite it's problems, it took me there and back every time.
But come autumn, the job ended and the old shitbox eventually met it's end. Took five minutes to start it and it was really fucking wobbly. So I scrapped it for 10€. Warm memories will always remain. May you run free in the nipmobile heaven, you magnificent piece of shit.
Sadly, no pictures were ever taken.
Can't remember the year, but a Geo Storm GSi I purchased for the princely sum of $300.
>5MT
>300k-ish miles
Bought it solely to drive home from my summer job, intended to kill it autocrossing or something since it seemed reasonably capable. Before I could start doing anything to it to prepare it for AutoX, my brother took it out to run some errands one day and fried the clutch racing an Integra on the streets.
He limped it home and I told him "fuck it, you broke it so find a buyer to offload it."
His mechanic friend bought it for $500, fixed the clutch, and not 500 miles later the engine threw a rod.
I'm so sad I never got to send it to its grave doing something fun.
Why is there no rotary diesels? Is it possible?
>Higher revs
>Will now be torky unlike the gas-driven Wankel
ROLLIN COAL AT 10 000 RPM MUHFUGGA!
So. /o/, tell me if this is doable.
Pic unrelated
>>16139996
Because diesel engines are all about fuel economy or they wouldn't exist.
>>16139996
I see you know nothing about rotaries.
They have plenty of torque.
And already rev high.
>>16140011
I meant that the diesel would finally be able to rev above 5000rpm, you illiterate, rotten jew.
Now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that this was a meme engine that answered a question no one asked?
Can we stop mythologizing a failed engine design that delivered poor performance, low fuel efficiency and unreliability?
once you accept its flaws (which are not a big deal, lets be completely honest) and also understand that mazda could not make the most reliable iteration because normies can't into the slightest bit of maintenance, you realize that it is a really clever design.
If a few manufacturers put their heads together and worked on the sealing it could be a viable option.
Its not the holy grail but by god it is a much smarter design than piston engines
Power/weight isn't a meme. Never was, never will be.
The problem is that people aren't willing to put in the work that the engine requires to be at its best.
And the fuel economy sucks.

So I've got family trying to find other family a decent car and they've asked me my thoughts on this https://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/5867911785.html
I don't know jack about beetles so I thought I'd ask /o/ real quick.
Car owner is basically family too, can get the car at a discount.

I'm sure they're not too stupid to Google.
Mk4 Golf with a bodykit. Atrocious reliability.
Avoid, avoid, avoid.
They're a golf under the skin.
I drove one a long time ago, around 2002 put so. It was nice enough for what it was.
So how was your day
Better than yours/that guys I guess
how does this happen
I hope you're one of the retards that keeps spouting about how great their Honda Accord is.
I see a lot of vans and diesel truccs have an AC/DC wall outlet on the side of their quarterpanels. This allows for plugging in classic 120-125V appliances.
Can I get this on my Ford Ranger? Will I need a battery upgrade? It'd be really nice to boil water whilst on the trails using a kettle instead of a 20 minute fire that may or may not be banned due to a red forest fire warning.
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=car+power+inverter
>>16144921
The problem is that a lot of car batteries don't have the capacity to handle large load appliances like microwaves, water kettles, saws, etc. Does one need to upgrade their battery to draw power from this?
There's a reason why people do an extra cut out and placement of the wall plugs and don't just buy what you linked. They spend hundreds of dollars for that upgrade and not just $30 or whatever for that item for a reason.
I just can't seem to find what that is.
Are there any kik groupchats for /o/? Wouldn't mind shooting the shit with you guys.

that kinda sounds like valve tick. rod knock sounds more like hammers, and makes the engine shake usually.
but i'm not 100%
whats with all the oil?

Sounds a lot like a valve bent out of shape, do you see smoke from the exhaust when you rev?

theyre heavy so if you scrap it you can get some decent monies
"American" manufacturers like Ford are often regarded for mainly their trucks. Across the board, they sell quite well domestically and have decent reliability ratings.
But why is it when you get to the nitty-gritty of it, every Ford truck has a Japanese counterpart that is better?

because ford a shit

You guys treat Ford like Linuxfags treat Apple

You guys sit here and bitch and moan all day on an image board about a brand you don't even buy from.
I drive a beat to shit old ranger with a 350 small block Chevy from the 80s.
Everybody builds good shit, you just may not find it all in the same place.
