Any opinions/experiences with the Lexus gs400? Seems very reliable, looks nice imo, and has decent power. Only flaw is fuel economy but I'm not really worried about mpg.
I own a GS400, the 1UZ motor is solid and it drives real nice. It feels more pigfat than other cars I drove but then again I also drive a miata and a vette but overall my only complaint is like you said the fuel economy.
If you don't care about mpg or the upkeep of a V8, you'll fucking love it.

Front lower ball joints
The leaking ps pump onto the alternator (most have been remedied by now)
Front tie rods like to wear out
Certain bushing (caster arm no2 ) goes to shit
Other than that theyre phenomonal cars. They dont have major reliability issues. If you fix all of the above they dont go bad again.
Is 'dude super wide front tyres are best for grip xd' the biggest meme ever?
The Mclaren P1 and a massive list of other hyper/supercars all 'only' have 245 section front tyres, yet they are still capable of setting lap records. Not only this, but thinner tyres are undeniably better in bad weather, and they don't follow lines and grooves in the road like thick tyres do.
Why do manufacturers like Audi and BMW fit stupid shit like 275 front tyres if its unnecessary?
It helps compensate for under steer on cars with shitty handling dynamics.
Why do you think muscle cars are suddenly setting great lap times?
my understanding is that wider tires have a larger contact patch (duh) and a greater coefficient of friction under typical track conditions compared to a thinner tire. wider tires are also able to dissipate heat better and suffer from less slippage (which causes additional heat)
moral of the story here is that I really don't know what I'm talking about and the engineers at Audi and BMW probably do [insert German "engineering" meme here]

Now consider the engine placement of these supercars with significantly smaller front than rear tires.
Look at the 911 for example.
Just drove a fiesta st, and wow, the clutch and gearbox were really hard for me to engage smoothly. Coming from a 20 year old manual shitbox, is this normal? Will I get used to it? There was literally no resistance to the clutch, fucking air light. In my car, you can pinpoint the grab real easy.
Clutches have stupid servos that numb out the feel nowadays.
Shit sucks.
I own a FiST. It was all normal to me by 100km, and I'm at 5000km. A rear motor mount upgrade and shifter bushings really improved the shifting feel of it though.
>>16149591
didnt know that. i couldnt even tell whether or not i was burning the clutch cause the only time i could smoothly engage gears was with a long, slow release of the clutch
everything else was awesome though, handling was super responsive

What?
Why has Subaru never turboed their Flat-6 engines?
It could literally have Porsche and GTR tier killing performance
I wish they made an front-engine flat-6 STI supercar. A Subaru flavored GT-R.
Because muh rally car 4 cylinder
Also the SVX and XT bombed in sales
No one wanted 6 cylinder performance cars form them, no one
>>16149428
>I wish they made an front-engine flat-6 STI supercar.
Thisssss
So Im being told that I shouldnt get a crossover w/ only 4 cylinders because the engine is too small for a crossover weight. It wouldnt be, and I quote, able to pull the car strong enough. Forcing it could leads to premature wear and tear - a hit on reliability. 4 cylinders should only be in sedan and anything larger should be 6 cylinders instead. What say /o/ about the merit of this arguement?
Im looking at the CX 9 w/ the 4 cylinder turbo, but this paradigm shift is having me second thought. Also wouldnt the turbo adds complexity to the car that could hamper reliability down the road?
>>16149343
why would you buy a shitty 3-row crossover?
if you need the passenger space, get a minivan.if you don't need the passenger space, get a used luxury sedan.
>>16149355
>Van
After driving the Sienna around hauling 20 cases of Heineken, I realized that it feels like driving a house and I dont even drink - those beers were for an event. It feels like Im taking up all the lane and some, I dont want that.
>Luxury Sedan
I am but a simple man, who wish but a simple life and little affairs.
The CX-5 weight almost the same as the Mazda6 w/ the same engine, by that virtue the engine shouldnt be any worse off between the two. So is what Im being told nonsense or something I missed??
as winter is approaching, i just realized my audi 1.8T is only blowing lukewarm air but not hot air
Also when i turn on the AC button then it will not blow warm air at all, just cold air, in order for it to be hot it has to have the ac compressor off.
What the fuck? i mean it IS heating it but not enough, what could be wrong?
cold ac works fine
Heater core?
Buy a car with a working heater. It'll be cheaper than repairing an Audi.
>>16149302
blend door could be stuck on the cold side or middle.
Wow! Thanks Mr.Trump!
A real hero. A real human bean
>>16149287
Trump didn't demand "donations" to a clinton foundation. When Bill Gates wanted a car to be legalized, he had to go meet with president bill clinton and he donated to the Clinton Foundation. Bill Clinton then signed some sort of order and Gate's was able to drive that car on the road with his presidential exemption. Gates didn't pay for the exemption; he merely donated to the Clinton Foundation. So it was technically not bribery.

I have to get up early tomorrow, probably going to sleep in an hour or two
>What are you are car related plans for the weekend?
Civic getting inspected tomorrow, possibly the S2000 too. Going to wash both of them after that assuming inspection doesn't take too long. PA inspection is dumb, I'm not doing this again next year.

Agreed

I'm gonna post whatever I feel like, as I do most Fridays.

I want to buy an N/A model since the turbo model is banned for P Plater Ausfags, I'm figuring you guys would probably know what an N/A Model in decent condition would fetch for here. In AUD.

Hey /o/
I am a poorfag and I need some fuckin help.
I bought a 1999 Subaru Forester and it's needed some work.
It started overheating a few months after I bought it but this was solved when I got the coolant flushed and replaced.
Now it is overheating again but only intermittently.
At one point it will be operating fine and not even need to turn on the radiator, and at other times it will be pic related. And sometimes I'll even need to pull it over because it gets past the H.
I'd also like to add that the coolant reservoir was almost always very full (way past the full line) and just now in the past two weeks the level is all the way down to between low and full now.
This happened when I let the car sit with just the radiator running and not the engine.
Please tell me what's wrong with this fucking car /o/

Thermostat, to literally just thr radiator cap

Why does Mazda refuse to make a V6? Why does Mazda refuse to add a turbo to anything except the CX-9? Why do they only sell weak vehicles despite claiming that "driving matters?"
why are their hoods so fucking long and their trunks so fucking short
>>16148904
Mazda is delusional and thinks normalfags give a shit about things like sporty proportions (among other things like handling and Jinbi Ittai)
>>16148895
Mazda's current lineup presents the "Economical, good handling, quick (I'd say a 7 second 0-60 is quick for a car that gets 40mpg), and affordable luxury. It's pretty good I think, a sporty econobox with a nice interior and good steering feel/handling characteristics. (Compared to the camry, with electric steering and a mushy suspension suited for comfort) After they realize that buyers want the mazdaspeeds back, they might bring back the speed3 first.
I drove a 2014 Mazda 6, a 2013 Honda Accord, and a 2014 Toyota Camry. The Mazda 6 was the one I liked the most, the suspension was tight but not uncomfortable, interior didnt feel cheap, and the power was useable at any rpm.
