What do you boyos think about this, I was just browsing some military vehicles on eBay and saw this. Is it worth the money, it seems to be in good shape and says it's been rebuilt. Is it just a pile of shit that is more of a collectors item that you shouldn't drive? Let me know your thoughts below

They've been appreciating in value over the last few years and now is the time to get one whether you are planning to drive it or store it and sell it later.

That being said; so much has been replaced on it that it's barely an old jeep anymore. Barely anything is original, it's been converted to 12v, sitting on a different chassis, and if you're going to repaint everything get rid of the paint flecks on the dash. At least it comes with a trailer and looks like it has the receptacle on the front passenger side. Not museum quality, but a decent "motorpool restoration".

They're ok, a bumpy ride as above said, but built tough. Top speed is 60, bit you wont want to go that fast, max rpm on those engines is 4000 rpm (with about 70 horsepower) and they are very low geared (5.38:1 with no overdrive gear in the trans). The life expectancy for these was about 6 months in the field, but many collectors get good reliability with them, and many people use them as daily drivers. They're dirt simple and you can rebuild most anything that goes wrong with a basic toolkit.

If you want it go for it, pretty cool I think, 13 would be about the most you should pay though.

I work as a security guard at an apartment complex and was hoping you fine folks can help me identify this sedan.

This person stole 8k worth of tools from someone's work van and this is the best shot I have of them driving away.

I'm hoping the unique rear side window design can help ID what make/model this is. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Serious question.

What coupe has the best seating position or overall ease of access to all controls? That is to say, for you, which coupe "feels" right when you sit in it, which one makes you feel at one with the vehicle?

Would you own a haunted car?

Pic related. Murder-suicide in this car's history. It was also in Gran Turismo 4, the first of their SEMA cars.

>For 40 years, this car lived its life as a bone stock, all-original 1962 Buick Special. When it was acquired by Ted and Sue Richardson in 2002, everything changed. Ted partnered with Ryan Butler of Hot Rod Fabrication in Auburn, WA, to bring to life his vision of what would become the first of its kind in the custom world. The goals were simple: build a sleek and drivable car with an awesome power plant and stance to compete for 2003 Street Machine of the Year. They wanted to do this while maintaining the overall look and feel of the original car, yet build it to drive and handle like a true high-performance machine. The build started in September 2002, and by June 2003, Bu'Wicked was ready to revolutionize the custom car world. At the heart of Bu'Wicked is a Pro-Charged, fuel-injected 455 Buick big block putting 555hp to the rear wheels through a Richmond 6-speed manual transmission. The car sits on a custom Art Morrison Chassis, suspended with a custom coilover suspension. It rolls on 17" Budnik Arrowhead wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot sport tires, all brought to a stop by Baer Pro 13.5" rotors with Alcon 4-piston calipers. The interior features Fiero bucket seats up front with a custom-made rear seat and full roll cage. The door panels were custom-made to match the lines of the front fenders of the car, with everything upholstered in hand-stitched green leather to match the paint scheme. After making its debut, Bu'Wicked went on to be a top-five finalist for Goodguys 2003 Street Machine of the Year. Since then, the car was on the cover of Custom Rodder in the January 2004 issue, was featured in the December 2003 issue of Popular Hot Rodding and was profiled by Popular Hot Rodding in their March 2004 issue. In addition to the magazine articles, the car has been immortalized in videogame history as a playable car for all to drive in Sony's "Gran Turismo 4," released in December 2004.

What do you guys think of the Porsche 944? I can find a decent one around me for 3k but its a porche so i figured it would break a lot. I assume the turbo would probably be around 4-5k.

there is a niche for them, so parts for them are not that hard to find...

Spend 5k on an n/a, turbos should be 8-10k if you're lucky.

Spending less is a trap.

How bad would I die on this?

I'm starting to get desperate to find a street legal vehicle.

The shame of riding around on that could do your serious harm alone.
>>
I don't know about "legal" I mean in some form it may be legal but don't think that means you can assemble it from a box and get on the interstate with no license. In my state if its more than 49cc you must have a motorcycle license and it must be registered and tagged.

I'm looking at buying a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 with 58000 miles for only $9000. It is bone stock besides coilovers. I know these cars can smoke but after the test drive I saw no smoke. Can anyone give me any friendly advice on this decision?
16 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>16441268
Please tell me about how they can smoke since that seems to be your biggest deterring factor in one. "Smoke." Because it's all the same right?
>>
>>16441287
Hes talking aboit the ppl that upgraded the downpipe and exhaust and got profuse smoking.

Go to the mazdaspeed forums not 4chan. The smoking is usually the turbo seals so have a few grand saved just im case. Also let the car idle to see if it smokes
>>
I don't know a lot about speed 3's but I'll try and help.
Have you given it the once over one usually does when looking at a used car as in

>clean title?
>do all the body panels and seams appear to be aligned normally?
>how's the underside look? anything rusting?
>does it drive ok? any noises when revving high?
>tried running a scan tool to see if it throws any codes?
>CEL?
>have appropriate service records?

At that price I believe your biggest concern would likely be if it has been wrecked before or if it's been maintained properly. Also is this a dealer listing? Or a Craigslist ad?

You may already know stuff about buying used cars, regardless these videos have good information in them about buying used cars

Okay something very weird happened while I was sitting in my car, idling in neutral

>2008 Honda Civic
>Normally idles around 700 rpm when at optimal temp
>Started dipping into 500-600 rpm range and vibrating heavily, seemed close to stalling out....while idling in neutral
>wtf.jpg
>Suddenly hear a loud hiss/whine and cloud of faint chemical-smelling white vapor shoots out from under the hood; I cut the engine off shortly after this happened.
>Pop hood open; rubber hoses in the AC system are cold enough to collect condensate. The metallic tubes are literally iced over. In a hot engine compartment.
>No visible damage immediately discernible under the hood; no clue where the vapor actually shot out from. No visible staining patterns, etc. Surfaces feel dry. Assuming it was freon that leaked and then evaporated.
>Restarted engine, seemed to idle okay; chemical smell still lingering but no vapor discharge.
>Cabin AC, which sort of worked before, now suddenly blows abnormally (as in sub-freezing) cold air. Even with the "AC" button off, the air remains super cold.
>Drove about 2 miles back home, didn't have any further problems but I was being careful not to stress the engine too much.
>After shutting off the engine I could hear a wet hissing, like liquid bubbling off of a hot surface, coming from what sounds like the area near the catalytic converter/exhaust manifold between the engine and radiator.
>No liquid seemed to be dripping under the car, except for what I thought was water condensate dripping off the A/C system under the hood. Possibly freon leaking?
>Haven't started engine since.

That's pretty much all the info I have. I'm honestly not certain what happened. If anybody could offer any helpful insight or advice on next steps, I would appreciate it. Gonna take it to the mechanic tomorrow to have it looked at in any case.
