Even without the "defeat device" VW make the cleanest cars.

They're still doing over a thousand km's to the tank so it's not like they're coal spewing beasts like brotrucks. I don't think anybody except for Europe and emission cucked states really give a shit whats coming out the exhaust pipe.
>>16497363
So they didn't really (have) to cheat they just did it to score as many brownie points with the EPA as possible? Seems kinda retarded. you'd think if you're in first place the last thing you'd do is cheat and cost yourself billions of dollars but i guess VAG has the money to wipe their ass with and are pretty bored of Le mans by the looks of it.
Kinda wish they used that money they lost buyout/invest in smaller underdog companies who were doing cool stuff before they ran out of money like Mosler or Panoz. or do more crazy never-done-before shit like a mid-engine'd diesel rotary super car with the rotary designed from the ground up by VAG or just something.
kinda pissed away billions of dollars and hurt the reputation of diesel cars in North America.
Fucking veedub why did they cheat?
Was thinking about getting a 2 step ignition system just because it seems fun and is relatively cheap. Anything I need to know before getting one? requirements, compatibility, installation?

All the info you need

I am not in the mood for reading.
Can someone explain to be with greentext what dies a 2step ignition does?
What went wrong ?
Also which is the best one and which is your favorite?

>What went wrong ?
all up to 10
>Also which is the best one and which is your favorite?
Clearly 11 is the best
>>16497169
Its all the same car, just pick whatever.
IX because wagon.
What is the best way to learn how to work on cars? I want to learn but I'm afraid I'll accidentally break my car. Pic related, it's my car (not specifically mine but same make and model)

I'm considering selling my IS300 and buying a similar year M45. These things are gorgeous but pretty rare at this point. Any reason why I shouldn't?
If it's what you want, fucking go for it, the VK45 is a nice engine
>>16497041
They are unreliable trash
Direct downgrade from your IS300
Well it's not gorgeous for a start.
It's probably gonna be a peice of shit.BUT I'M JUST SO GOD DAMN TEMPTED.
>>16496839
do it you're an adult, gotta know those consequences
>>16496839
that's a V6 auto isn't it.
a beater/project for 1500 isn't bad depending on condition
I'm going to buy hyundai coupe from 2004 is it worth it?
I'm hungover so I'll keep this short; it looks nice but it's a cheaply made shitbox that's worse than all of its competition. Every owner I've talked to just shits on it constantly and wishes they never bought it
>>16496844
What would you recommend?
its a total shitbox.
How much are you paying?
alright lads, what's the best little tree scent?
/oceanmist/ here
BLACK. ICE. 42 OF THEM. I WANT MY ENEMY TO SMELL ME COMING
Leather, hands down. Maybe not authentic, but smelt great nonetheless.
please respond
why does nobody talk about this car?
>>16496707
There's nothing controversial about it.
It's well built, reliable, has great engine offerings, and makes a great noise.
But it also doesn't stand out in any conceivable way.
It doesn't have hordes of fans, a modifying scene, or aftermarket support
No one talks about the Mercedes S-class either. Doesn't mean it's a bad car.
>>16496752
>nissan
>well built
>reliable
>great engines
I needed a good laugh. Thanks m8
>>16496780
when it's not a 2002+ 4 cylinder and not a CVT, Nissans are fairly reliable.
Unfortunately 80% of their best sellers are CVT equipped FWD 4 bangers
Would there be any downside to getting a Turbo Beetle over a GTI? From what i understand, they weigh the same, have almost the same engine, and very similar suspension and come in 6 speed manuals.. I really like the looks of the 2011+ beetles and would love it as a unique alternative to the gti.
Downsides:
Owning a Beetle
Being gay
Otherwise, yeah, it's a decent alternative.
At what age does one outgrow wanting their car to be shittier just to be different?
>>16496656
I've got a buddy with a fucking sleeper ass bug. Looks stupid as fuck but its funnier than shit when he roasts things in a beetle.
What does /o/ think each countries best racetrack is?
What about the most important or interesting track?
For 'Murica I think best is Laguna Seca, but most interesting is Sebring.
France, De Le Sarth for both.
Japan, Suzuka is best IMO, but Fuji is more interesting due to the setting.
>Murica
>Not mentioning VIR
What a comprete faggot
>>16496671
I also didn't mention Watkins Glen, Road America, Daytona, Sonoma, or Indy.
America has tons of awesome circuits, I just picked my personal favorites.
>>16496638
I love Seca but I'm biased because it's where I went to racing school and so I'm super comfortable there.
Europe is probably Spa, and Japan is probably Suzuka, but I only know them from games.
Why is the car world typically such a hostile one? For every nice remark in the tuning communities, it seems theres at least 4 nasty ones. Its like theres no reasonable, fact based discussion.
Recent example:
>jay lenos garage
>guy has a 135i v8 swap built
>jay is thoroughly impressed
>haha fucking rich boy
>couldnt even build it himself what a fag
Its like the majority of our world is insanely insecure and jealous of everyone.
Where does this stem from?
>>16496392
No clue but everyone seems to hate everything but their own personal car
>>16496392
>135i v8 swap build
What the fuck am I reading. Why the fuck would they ruin a 135i with a v8 swap
>>16496417

how can you guys that do aut/o/ meets do the nonstop runs without refueling??!?!?!?!
i see some of your runs are twisty spirited roads for at least 1-3 hours
how on earth do you not run out of gas by the end of the second hour?!?!!?
what kinda fuel economy are you guys pushing
also this thread is for people with higher HP cars
Most "spirited runs" around here will stop for gas if they're going that long. It's not that complicated.
Besides, if they're just doing like 10 over most cars could still just be cruising in a high gear. 1-3 hours is a relatively short drive...
>>16496313
> also this thread is for people with higher HP cars
How much horsepower and how shitty is your car to not be able to run a couple hours even at high speed?
>>16496313
