What's the best Jeep (make/model/year) I can get for under $5K?
in general jeeps have a high resale making them terrible actually.
can you find a samurai? its like a suzuki jeep
>>17811310
The cheapest ones you'll find are 4-cylinder YJ or TJ models. They get the same mileage as the 6-cylinder but are half as powerful.
>>17811335
or he could get something like a pathfinder? maybe a montero? those are cheap.
/o/ I am a college kid with too much time on his hands and a big slow car. I drive an LS400 and want to look at selling it for something sportier. How retarded would I be to get an old 944 or boxster if i don't have much mechanical experience, but want to learn?
Is this that much dumber than getting like an mx5 or mr2?
You'd be so retarded that the special eds students will laugh at you
do not get a fucking 944, it's a fucking shitbox
get the boxster
>>17811076
Sure, if you like expensive parts and labour. Get a $3k Civic.
ITT cars driven strictly by douchebag assholes

This is so strange to see for someone who lives in Eastern Europe, where every working class man drives either a Volkswagen Passat or an Audi A4. Oh and let's not forget the rural underclassmen special - Audi 80.

I want to find a cheap UK car

Fiance a 5 series you slavic fuck
>>17810939
Gumtree or eBay are your friends in that budget. Autotrader has quite high fees so cheap cars don't crop up there often. Don't touch a diesel for that money unless it is an older basic one, although if you really want one the VW 1.9 PD130 is a decent engine. Your money goes so much further with petrol cars here. Ford Mondeo is always a safe bet, no timing chains to piss about with and well specced ones are easy to come by. If you want something fancier then there are lots of 6 cyl E46 BMWs about - find one without rust and you should be fine.
Rust can be an issue here so be on the look out for that on arches and sills, I would recommend a Honda Accord but be very careful with them for rust.

You could easily afford the Godvan for this budget
Do you know that feeling when you like something even though you don't know why, and you know there are "better" or more practical stuff out there but damn you love that car.
For me it's the NA and NB miatas, owned one and driven the other, there's no car that makes me feel better than those.
What about you?

MR2 SW20 Turbo
There is nothing better in my eyes.
It is literally perfect.
Nissan Silvia. It's just so beautiful. Seeing all of the abused Silvias angers me so much, I absolutely hate drifting.
Yes
Are v16 engines a meme? Why does no car use them?
>>17810872
because they're huge, inefficient and have little purpose
>>17810893
This.
>Yes mr vatozone I would like to purchase 16 quarts of oil please.
Simply too big. V16s have been put in locomotives and tugboats, but even if you're willing to put up with the mechanical complexity they're just too damn big to be worth it. Yes, I'm aware that the Cizeta exists, but it does nothing a good V12 can't accomplish just as well.
>go out to change your cars oil the weekend
>your jack decides to quit working
What do?
use another one. possibly the one which came with the car
Ramps

>inb4 op put 315's on his shitbox 90's camaro with 250hp because it's "cammed"
Do you think the Mazda Miata/Eunos Roadster is a sports car?
If you don't think so, explain why.
If you do, explain why.
Also I'm talking about all generations of the Miata/Mx-5, from 1990-2017.
>asking about a car on a busriding forum
If it's not a sports car then no car is a sports car
>>17810782
Its the classic definition of a sportscar.

The dealership is going to replace the blown engine in the used car they sold me with the same exact engine but with twice the amount of miles - 80k.
This is the first car I've had that has needed an engine swap so what should I expect? The original engine only had 43,000 miles but it was a piece of shit and eventually killed itself. I'm a bit wary of the dealership, if they can actually do it right without fucking anything up due to their incompetency with the first engine.
I really just want the car to fucking run with minimal problems but that is like asking too much out of it.
>>17810674
>Blown engine at 43k
Fiat?
Getting dicked out of 40k miles of lifetime isn't something i'd be happy with
>>17810703
Nissan?
Toyota?
Honda?
Subaru?
How do I get this off. I need to swap the tire but I dont have the specific thing to get it out
>>17810673
Go home Jamal, don't steal the nice man's wheels.
Use an axe, a screwdriver, and a pair of pliers.
Couple of different ways, mostly involving going to a store to find the right security socket or a professional wheel store to beg to borrow one.
Orrrrrrrr just weld a regular lug nut on there, fuck it. If you do it right, you can prevent damage to the wheel around it, but it's hard.
I'm looking for some good junkyards in NJ and NY, currently located in Madison NJ. Want to see some pretty and oldish cars. In particular BMW e36-e46 and misc Audis. Thanks!
This kills the corolla.
>>17810595
by the looks of it, this versa is already dead
Nissan has BY FAR the most fucked up proportions on their current cars.
Who the fuck is the head designer.
>>17810595
I don't think you understand what 'kills' means.
I dunno why, but I really wanna make an IRL Herbie. Not just painting a beetle to look like him, but also converting this beetle to an EV so it's fast as fuck. I just think it would be fun racing all these street ricers with a cute little beetle and kicking their asses.
why EV, there is so much air cooled power info out there.
>>17811117
Because those things are 60 hp stock and require serious investment to squeeze more than 120 hp out of.
>>17810597
>EV
>FAST
Pick one
>sub 2000lb 300hp electric shitboxes
literally the only thing that makes me not lose all hope in the automotive future (yet)
>>17810495
'Might' be?
As I understand it, it WILL be, and how long only depends on how much of a dickhead the guy with the patent is going to be.
Also super-strong plastic bodywork and ultralight titanium parts on performance car.
>>17810531
>As I understand it, it WILL be
Might as in -in your lifetime- meaning it might get postponed a ton of times until we finally have feather light batteries or cars using this instead of sheet metal.
It does seem likely that it will be a big thing but the development still seems to be slow
My Neighbor is selling a 02 Buick Century that's been in her garage for years and only has like 23k miles on it and looks perfectly fine. Should I bite the bullet and buy it and how much do you think it's worth?
>>17810309
how much is your neighbor asking for?
>>17810327
2800 Is what she wanted.
>>17810347
>car with 23k miles on it
>garaged
If the paint and tires are good, $2800 isn't bad. You could probably look it over and talk her down to 25 if you find some bullshit (photon fluid low, endoplasmic reticulum in need of repair, etc.) Give it a $100 tuneup and sell it to some college student for $3200 or more.
