714: Fame and Misfortune - Twilight Sparkle's publishing of the friendship journal has unintended consequences when ponies start to argue over who wrote the best lessons.

715: Triple Threat - Spike accidentally invites Ember and Thorax to Ponyville on the same day. He's sure the two new leaders are not going to get along so he does all he can to keep them apart and cover the fact that the other is there.

716: Campfire Tales - When their sister camping trip is ruined by Fly-ders, Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash tell Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom, and Scootaloo the stories of their favorite legends; inspired by the tales, the girls make the most out of their new situation.

Not really to that extent, but kind of. I'm pretty sure pic related was ironic. Despite a ton of headcanon and fanfic getting btfo there were more people parodying or expecting that kind of reaction than there were actual autists crying. The most I saw was subdued mourning for fanon Luna while still liking the "new" Luna. They also generally saw that coming too so didn't rage about it. What you're describing mostly happens/happened to the mane six every time they got an episode. Especially if their waifu was clearly in the wrong during that episode.

Hasbro doesn't want to have counter parts on screen together because they don't want it to confuse the little ones. This is why they took out the scene of Twi meeting with Sunset in the beginning of RR because they feared the kids would confuse Twi with Scitwi and mess up the plot in their minds.
