Not really to that extent, but kind of. I'm pretty sure pic related was ironic. Despite a ton of headcanon and fanfic getting btfo there were more people parodying or expecting that kind of reaction than there were actual autists crying. The most I saw was subdued mourning for fanon Luna while still liking the "new" Luna. They also generally saw that coming too so didn't rage about it. What you're describing mostly happens/happened to the mane six every time they got an episode. Especially if their waifu was clearly in the wrong during that episode.

My own personal retarded head-cannon was that Celestia acted a monarch ruling the kingdom and Luna as field marshal commanding the army. Hence Luna eclipsed was much better with Luna have a boisterous, brash and stiff outer persona with a deeply haunted, regretful and resigned personality underneath.

I've been a part of a long running and extensive 5 years and still going roleplay group with our own headcanon separate from the show, and we all know that what's on the show doesn't neccesarily HAVE to affect what we do or don't do in the RP.
