If you're interested I suggest watching Gunbuster, FLCL as a buffer, then Diebuster.

However I've heard people say that watching episodes of Gunbuster and Diebuster back to back's pretty good. Maybe it's more of a rewatch thing.

I was just at Best Buy the other day naively thinking I could find Ultraseven by digging through bargain bins because the website said it was there and not just sold there online. I was eyeing some Star Trek stuff too

TOS movies are 60 dollars
TNG is 120 dollars

Tomino never wanted Gundam to really become what it did.

I'm not sure he regrets it, but he seems like he's just kind of accepted that a new generation needs to helm the franchise while he just goes and does the monkey or whatever..

Crinns dad really did nothing wrong. Earth was fucked without Deloyer, and if it wasn't for Lecoque Deloyer would have a monopoly on those other two planets. Rick just wanted to make things better for deloyerans so that an uprising wouldn't be warranted in the future.
It only failed because earth corporations and soldiers were dickheads and deloyerans didn't wanna co-operate.

Man that scene where Crinns dad dies and they have their last conversation is really fucking sad.

As much as I love Shinkai this was easily his weakest movie, even if it the theme really resonated with me.
What disappointed me the most about the inclusion of robots and aliens is how little it did to actually progress anything, it was just kind of there to justify space travel- which really doesn't need the justification? if I'm remembering right anyway, it's been years
It's also before he hit his stride with drawing people so the characters don't look particularly good, even if the scenery is still great. Tenmon still does a good job with the soundtrack, though.

1.) Kiryu: took the best part of both designs, and actually made him decent at melee and made his tail useful. Plus he has Akane...

2.) Mg1 original: had classic and mean looking design. I like how it even looks like he's made of metal (all the armor looks like it's been taking abuse and wear and tear), plus the end battle in GvsMG where he unloaded all his firearms was amazing.

3,) mg2: eh. He looked kinda cool with Garuda, but he always looked too bulky for me, plus the face just felt way off
