Oh I'm liking this
Oh shit. Twin Ahab Reactors! Does it mean that it will now go toe-to-toe with the Gundams?
So, that's the Gerail right?
Who was the best Getter 3 pilot? Based on skill, character, or personal preference?
Manga Musashi
Armageddon Benkei
Toei Musashi
Gai
Manga Benkei
Toei Benkai
Benkei Musashibou
In order from best to worst and having only seen random smatterings of Toei
>>14807376
I'm curious, why do you rate Musashibou so low? Personally he is in contention for my favorite.
And no love for Armageddon Musashi? He's only in the first three episodes but he made one hell of an impact
>>14807389
He's a fat monk who doesn't do any cool third pilot stuff like dying. New Getter Robo is not something I enjoy
This show has the worst animated first episode I've ever seen and I've survived the worst parts of SDF Macross just fine and thought 0079 was quite watchable as far as visuals were concerned.
What we have here is not the general issue with most anime where things don't move at all. On the contrary things moved a lot, but in a terrible way. It would be much better if the episode was just a collection of stills.
It's like a couple of ambitious animators completely devoid of any talent for animation vomited on my screen for 20 minutes.
>>14806711
There wasn't ANY animation director for this one. No joke, not even ANN or Anidb listed any for the show.
>>14806711
Why is Tomino such a fucking psychopath? Can he only get an erection when he directs a fictional characters death scene?
>>14806711
>This show has the worst animated first episode I've ever seen and I've survived the worst parts of SDF Macross just fine and thought 0079 was quite watchable as far as visuals were concerned.
>this show from 1977 looks worse than this one from 1979 and this other one from 1982!
Well gee, this is a hard thing to puzzle out.
What are some of your most favorite sexy mech designs?
For me, I'd have to say Dolores from Zone of the Enders

Anyone have that picture of him censoring Noel by glaring at us? I can't seem to find it anymore.
Binge read the first two books and want more. Does the anime compare to the novels?
>>14806575
The anime is a very accurate adaptation.
>>14806575
>Does the anime compare to the novels
No, the anime is bullshit, don't watch it.
>>14806575
It's a faithful adaptation. No original ending or fan service bullshit.
Which episode does Zeta get good?
>>14806306

Would Luke Skywalker make a good mobile suit pilot?
What would he pilot? Would he be better than armuro?
>>14806073
I don't think he'd pilot a mobile suit. He'd kick ass in a Variable Fighter instead.
>>14806073
Isn't he basically a newtype?
>>14806125
A VF with Ghosts.
What would he pilot?
>>14806004
>>14806004
KoRyuOh
>>14806277
>Tiger Mask
>Mexican
Has anyone read Cyber Blue?
It's basically cyberpunk HnK with a robot man protagonist
Does it fill the void that Cyber City Oedo 808 and M.D. Geist left behind?
Yeah I did, it is okay. Just an action series, pretty fast to read.
Ah yes, story by Bob.
I am quite familiar with Bob's works.

>The federation doesn't send any organized force to take care of Neo-Zeon
>The entirety of Neo-Zeon was defeated by out-of-school kids piloting and internal strife
>Aztec space ninjas
You guys defend this?
>>14805601
"The federation doesn't send any organized force to take care of Neo-Zeon"
Federations best were still to busy dealing with the Titan remnants at Pezun during Sentinel, along with fighting many of the other violent splinter Zeon factions in Africa and Europe. The Federation were also interested in actually working with Haman to depopulate the planet and take advantage of her new regime.
"The entirety of Neo-Zeon was defeated by out-of-school kids piloting and internal strife"
Glemy Totos rebellion happened. Neo Zeon won completely on Earth and the Federation were on the brink of total collapse after the Dublin attack, the Nahel Argama and it's crew would have done little to stop Neo Zeon had Glemy not turned the radical zabist groups against Hamans loyalist.
"Aztec space ninjas"
Moon-Moon is an awful arc, I won't refute this. Even with the novels explination of Moon-Moon being made to jam many of the migrant workers involved in building the original Side 1, 2, 3 and 4 complexes into a colony out of sight and out of mind, it still does not excuse how idiotic much of the plot arc was.
>>14805601
>The entirety of Neo-Zeon was defeated by out-of-school kids piloting and internal strife.
That makes us smart.
>>14805601
>>The federation doesn't send any organized force to take care of Neo-Zeon
They do. They send a fleet after Neo-Zeon's civil war wiped itself out.
The Gundam Team and the Argama didn't have a huge impact on the war besides swaying the emotions of some of the zeeks. The civil war was literally what wiped most of the Neo-Zeon army and its leadership out. Judau only killed like Rakan and Haman, and Haman only went out to fight him after the civil war ended and Neo-Zeon was in complete shambles.
I am interest in the Five Star Stories. It's one of those things I've known about for ages but never really cracked and checked it out. I like Nagano designs and art.
I don't know much about FSS though. What type of story is it? What should I expect? How do you suggest I get into it - just start the first vol of the manga?
>>14805563
You should expect having to read it several times before everything clicks. Lots of characters and aliases to remember. The first 3 volumes or so are pretty straight forward at least. Just be sure to remember character profiles.
>>14805624
So there are a lot of characters then? Is it one of those large casts but focuses on a few or just flat out a million characters?
>>14805629
There's a fuck-ton of characters, and if you don't pay attention to the profile pages at the start of volumes it's not too hard to lose track of the side characters in the same chapter that they're introduced. It's made a bit more tricky by that the timespan of the story and Nagano's fashion design fetish means that some characters will drastically change their look in between appearances.
