> Mega-deep non cliche edgy creative writing piece due in a few days.
> Fine ill do it.
> Begin brainstorming ideas for short story.
> Realise all my ideas are 'cliche' and/or come from some form of pre-existing literature or tv show/movie.
> wait a minute.
> there is a whole board of helpful, attractive and extremely knowledgeable literature lovers who can do the hard thinking for me.
> The theme must be about discovery. (self discovery, physical discoveries blah blah just has to be deep and will impress a marker who will sift through thousands of short stories.)
Post your idea for my NON-CLICHE short story that will make me known for ever amongst my teachers and class mates. Any and all ideas will be extremely helpful.
Thank you /lit/.
Ten page, post-modern piece of a man contemplating the universe, while fishing a light bulb out of his colon.
You could have phrased that to not sound like a smug cunt and maybe I would have helped you. Instead I'm gonna tell you to choke on a fat one.
Hey /lit/! I want to read something that inspires me to do big things and to improve myself. Do you know any books that makes you feel like this when you finish them?
Pic unrelated.
the holy bible
The Bible.
I'm serious.
Start with Ecclesiastes, Proverbs, and then Job. They makes sense of suffering, humility, and generosity. Proverbs is chock full of practical advice. Ecclesiastes provides an answer to nihilism and existential angst. The most important lesson you'll gain from this is the value of wisdom. With wisdom and knowledge as your foci, you can advance through life knowing it only gets easier, and then you turn to dust. Really, it's quite peaceful.

Ya dude. Epic bost btw.
I need ideas for books to send to someone serving a three-month jail sentence. I can provide any further context if desired.
Preferably promoting HONEST introspection, self-analysis, and self-improvement.
This person needs a LOT of self-care and is on the precipice of cognitively realizing this - I'm looking for a text that will push them over the edge into "Oh, I CAN be better! I'm actually allowed to love myself and that's okay."
Something practical. Something that can't readily be argued against, even in the midst of severe bias and general prejudice of the external.
I really care about this person and this sentence is the culmination of a long history of self-hate and fear ruling their lives. This book could legitimately change everything for them.

is there any good place to find college textbooks in e-reader format?
>>7617230
just get pdfs off of bookzz and the libgen familia. If that fails bookz (irc) might have them. It's pretty rare that a textbook is on neither of those---if so, then hustle over the biblioteca (hopefully you're near a good college) and nab a copy there.
also why the fuck you want epubs? Figures are usually fucked up even in the 'official e-reader' version, unless you're looking at Diestel's graph-theory or another really high quality e-version.
>>7617233
I mean file formats for PC based reading. I don't really use e-reader stuff, I'm just looking to see if I can get the texts on-screen instead of a book. thanks for the reply btw, I'm making some progress finding what im looking for
I don't think she will write anything better than Surfacing. Thoughts?

What's your magnum opus going to be like /lit/?
A readable version of Ulysses.
>>7616924
A short pamphlet to my progeny and great...great...etc grandchildren somewhat prior to my death introducing myself and briefly listing what I have learned during my life, and wishing them best of luck in theirs.

A secretly sentimental story serving a second, superior self scurrying through sceneries of season passed.
Books you have bought recently.
Here is a hungarian copy of "The Tragedy of Man" by Imre Madách.
It was pretty cheap, and it's a good edition.
Does lit even buys books or you guys just use an E-reader or you just get presents based in a list you gave to mummy?

fuck off back to your 'i don't care if i'm a pleb' sci-fi general thread
>>7617116
What wrong did I say?
Why are you trying to imply that I belong in a fantasy/sci-fi general?
Does anyone have that meme of a guy giving a really dumb answer on Jeopardy involving Michael Chrichton? That's as specific as I can be, can't find it anywhere.

I wanted to read Jurassic Park as a kid, because I loved the movie. Is it worth it?
Thoughts, /lit/? How does it rank against his other works?
>>7616742
It's his weakest work, in my opinion.
