Let's talk about books in which cute young boys do cute things
john fante - ask the dust
a cute
the boy doesn't do anything in the book
>>9114582
He plays on the beach, kisses another boy, wears cute outfits and so on.
It's also implied that he's aware of Aschenbachs attentions
So my last three books were Heart of Darkness, No country for old men, and Blood Meridian
Can /lit/ recommend me my next read? I'm thinking something bloody, violent, dark. I prefer shorter reads (<400 pages) over longer.
>he read Heart of Darkness AND blood meridian
Dude...
heart of darkness is an utter slog

Is my post bad or am I just not understanding something?
I just bought the complete collection of all Howard's works (around 930 pages) as an e-book on my Kindle for around 1$ (yes, ONE DOLLAR).
What am I in for ?
You're in for about $0.50 worth of literary value in 930 pages.
Great pulp.
"The Hyborian Age" has obvious influence from the ethnographic works of Herodotus.

Borges was blind wasn't he?
Soz man, that sucks. You might want to read Borges' essay on being blind, I recommended it to some litizen once and they said it helped them.
You can find it here, page 494
What software do you use to write?
Vim, make and LaTeX.
Word.
my mind
In an effort to raise the level of discourse on /lit/ I want you to tell me about the last book you read in the style of a primary/elementary school book report.
Gold stars may or may not be awarded.
Title of book: the temple of the golden pavilion
Author: mishima
Fiction or non fiction: both
Characters: Mizoguchi, Kashiwagi, Tsurukawa
My favorite part of the story was when: Mizoguchi burned down the Golden Temple. The entire book leads up to that glorious end
Stars: * * * (3 stars)

We've been reading since only 3000BC, it is much more natural to listen. Physical books will hopefully soon become a thing of the past, and everything will become either audio or electronic.
>>9114178
maybe you've been reading since 3000 bc, i started a bit earlier
>>9114178
lots of laziness with just listening
How do I bother to read all those big boring pretentious books I'm supposed to read or else I'm a pleb? It's so boring. I mean stuff by Dickens, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, the Greeks, and almost anything written before 1900.
>>9114068
Find the good ones, duh.
Just don't bother, brainlet.
Kill yourself
Should I read In Search Of Lost Time?
Is it interesting or does it drag on too much?
Jeez I don't know, could this acclaimed masterpiece of literature really be worth the time of a 4chan shitposter? I hope we'll all waste our time to find out.
first you should read Alain de Botton's "How Proust can change your life". It's acclaimed academic work. And first of all, a comfy reading.
>>9114056
yeah then watch all of The School of Life on Youtube. They're great...I love how they tell you you can learn about life and stuff from these old dead geezers like Marcy Prowst.
>implying Purgatorio is not the best cantica
>>9113927
But nobody implied that.
It was probably my favourite with Paradiso being my least favourite (not because it was necessarily bad, but my own ignorance and struggle to comprehend much of it really dashed my enjoyment of it). I should probably re-read the Divine Comedy again sometime but overall anyone denying its greatness is just being flippant.

Purgatorio > Inferno >>>>>>>>> Paradiso
I think we can all agree on this.
