This board is way too pleb for coover though. Everyone here is entry level as fuck. Busy reading /lits top 100 because they have never read les mis or dosto before lmao.
I'm 20 and I've never read a book in my life. I want to become well-read now.
Since I never read anything and I have a very short attention span, I thought about starting with books that are a collection of different short stories, like The Decameron, Canterbury Tales, and Arabian Nights.
You're more experienced than me, soo you think it's a good idea? Do you have other suggestions?
Don't read those yet. Can you read this easily?
Whan that Aprill with his shoures soote
The droghte of March hath perced to the roote,
And bathed every veyne in swich licour
Of which vertu engendred is the flour,
Whan Zephirus eek with his sweete breeth
Inspired hath in every holt and heeth
The tendre croppes, and the yonge sonne
Hath in the Ram his halve cours yronne,
And smale foweles maken melodye,
That slepen al the nyght with open ye
(so priketh hem Nature in hir corages),
Thanne longen folk to goon on pilgrimages,
And palmeres for to seken straunge strondes,
To ferne halwes, kowthe in sondry londes;
And specially from every shires ende
Of Engelond to Caunterbury they wende,
The hooly blisful martir for to seke,
That hem hath holpen whan that they were seeke.
What sort of things to you want to read? Any interests?
9 Stories by JD Salinger is probably a good start

It's weird. If I try to read that in my mind i recognize most of the words through pronounciation, but I have to strugge to do that
My plan was to read book that are considered essentials/classics in their original language. I thought that by doing this i could become well-read and learn foreign languages at the same time
words are only useful in communicating ideas, not understanding them.
debate me on this i dare you.

woo anon so deep

You have only advanced your contention.
But you do not understand your contention.
Ergo there is nothing to debate.
>>9231843
not correct
not debating

Five hundred arhats from the first Buddhist cathedral has comprehended everything. The world was no longer able to deceive the best disciples of the Buddha, even in a dream. But they had no children. Unlike the Hindu Brahmins, who were breeding like rabbits, but could not compete with the arhats in the understanding of the truth. And here where the decline of Buddhism in medieval India comes from. The constant degradation of the human world is inevitable, for the best creatures born in it dreams of only one thing - to leave it irretrievably. A gambler, who understands that the casino always cheats, rise from the table. Sooner or later, only stupidly mistaken individuals will remain in the human world - subjects to the poorest made hypnosis. And they are not just affected, but will gladly transfer hypnosis further, turning themselves into it's hot spots.
why do you think arhats were drunk laughing men in the first place? they knew the real face of the world.

Frankly he's as good place to start on German Idealism as anyone. Definitely don't start with Hegel. You might want to try Kant first, but you don't have to.
Why would you bother? Le spook memery is all that he's good for.
Hey doods. I have to write a Shakespearean sonnet in abab cdcd efef gg rhyme scheme. However poetry is not my forte, I only practice creative writing. Can any of you guys help me out?

Hello, /lit/. I have never been here so I'm not even sure if this thread goes on that board or maybe /mu/. Tried the wiki, archive and catalog for something fitting with no success.
I would like you to, if you can, point me to some decent books about electronic music's history. I'm new to the subject so I don't mind if it's basic. I am sorry if that's not the place for that but it was worth a try.
Picture is somewhat related.
Not exactly about electronic music but The Rest is Noise by Alex Ross is a really good chronicle on contemporary music, including electronic music, since the early 20th century until today.
"Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" by Bill Brewster and Frank Broughto is the best book every written on dance music culture.
Energy Flash by Simon Reynolds is alright and a classic overview of electronic music history.
"More Brilliant than the Sun" by Kodwo Eshun may be nice if you enjoy 90s Nick Land-esque insane rambling.
'Rave And Its Influence On Art And Culture' by Nav Haq
'Energy Flash: A Journey Through Rave Music And Dance Culture' by Simon Reynolds
'Love Saves the Day: A History Of American Dance Music Culture, 1970-1979' by Tim Lawrence
Why /mystic/ here?
I'm at the point where I'm constantly in mystical rapture. And I don't even wanna brag about it. It truly is overwhelming me at this point.

Donald Ray Pollock is an obligatory choice.
If you haven't read any Faulkner, obviously that's a good choice

The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter.
We Have Always Lived In The Castle.
just read pic related but I'm not that satisfied. he takes naturalism and determinism to the extreme. also, one of his key arguments, the anthropic principle, doesn't really stand to reason. though, his evolutionary explanation for the origin of religion was really interesting. gotta give him credit for that.
can anyone suggest worthwhile literature on atheism?
