Who has the best proseand why is it King?
>>9230710
his prose isn't special. he had his moments before he stopped using drugs and became a complete cuck.

>tells people "you have to read for at least two hours every day to be a good writer"
>spends those two hours reading YA
No wonder he churns out garbage

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems like a pseudoscientific justification for the furry porn I'm about to read
as if.
Literature as we know it is dying.
Maybe the AI programmers of the future will come up with a "kind" of novel but not the kind that will be relevant to the majority of society for whom eventaully AI will be dumbed down for ease of use the same way literature is becoming.
>>9230659
I can't wait until AI can write a book. Like it asks you a bunch of questions then writes the book you want to read.
AI can already write novels. Some AI written novel got submitted to an unpublished novel contest and placed in the top ten.
>not wanting to live like Diogenes

You can't be serious mate. Did you read eight pages?
Once, there was a fat old man who was itching for an adventurous life before his anal cancer left him too weary and depleted to have a chance of seeing the wide world beyond the forest. But, his anus exploded and got him really sick and he died in mere hours in sad tears of how his adventure should have began when he was young and happy. His neighbor found him in this red-faced, red-arsed way, and so we begin his story instead.
The neighbor then went to the store and ordered a day-care service.
This is the sort of immature cancer that kills this board.

What are some books, facts, things, etc., that ever well-read person should know?
The only list you'll ever need.

James Joyce was a fart fetishist.
Using your knowledge of philosophy, consciousness, free will, and fate, can you answer the following question.
Who was in the wrong here?
Right? Wrong? Griffith is the one with the dick.
He sacrificed his friends for self gain, it's pretty obvious.
>>9230406
I'll start
Griffith should bear little to no moral culpability for his transformation into Femto.
Guts is presented strongly as a nietzschian hero, one for whom the struggle against fate and self determination is paramount.
Griffith however is much closer to kierkegaards' Knight of faith. Griffith has always been absolutely devoted to his dream, and sees the circumstances surrounding his ascent to be more as subtle variations surrounding the direct path destiny has for him. To Griffith, we see that his decision values system is indifferent to the individual circumstances. To Griffith, those who joined his troupe had pledged their lives to him, and in turn said lives were his to do with. To Griffith it makes no functional difference whether or not the soldiers met their end or a battlefield or in the eclipse.
Griffith did nothing wrong
Don Quixote ... one of the funniest books ever written. Cervantes knew how to make a joke and had a deep look at human madness
>>9230400
You've been reading too many trump tweets, op
A crude and cruel old book
>>9230415
Loony Don Quixote. Looks at windmills, sees giants! Nasty guy.
Has anyone else here found things in their lives sort of correlating with what they're reading?
I had just finished Notes from Underground when my boyfriend broke up with me, and it basically ended with me going on a self deprecating rant similar to the narrator, and basically felt vile like him.
When this happens, are you seeing yourself in the book or the book in you?
Are you gay?
>>9230374
This happens every now and then. These are the books you treasure! I was feeling like a slave to my university and my family when I discovered André Gide, whose character Menalque is a philosophical vagabond running away from all constraints & conventions & full of hate for families; it helped me feel less alone, like I was on the right path (not just going thru a funk).
Also are you a fag-anon or a fem-anon?
I invite you to visit my blog, is in spanish but there's the option to translate.

Can I skip it and move on to Posterior Analytics?
Judging by the first 7 chapters, it doesn’t seem like much insight can be gained by anyone who’s taken an introductory logic or set theory course. A lot of his discussion of the three figures seems like it can be reduced to venn diagrams. Pic related is “If A is predicated on B and B is predicated on C, then A is predicated on C.”
I read the Stanford Encyclopedia article on Aristotle’s logic, and there are some differences between modern logic and “Aristotelian logic”, but it seems like these (minor) differences would be more interesting to a historian of logic than someone who’s reading Aristotle for the first time. Is there any value to this other than innate historical interest? Will I run into any continuity gaps regarding Aristotle’s thought if I just move on to Posterior Analytics?
>>9230311
Yes, you can skip it. Everything of great relevance to his other works in regards to his logic will be found in Posterior Analytics, Categories, and De Interpretatione.
>>9230643
Thanks. Does the same apply to Topics and Sophistical Refutations?
>>9230311
why would anyone read Aristotle's work on logic who wasn't an Aristotle scholar?
Jorge Luis Borges is one of the best Latin writers, his essays are brilliant, his short stories are unique, "The library of babel" is one of the best stories I read ... I think Jorge should have received the Nobel Prize
