Hello /K/, due to the recent isis threat and all, I've been meaning to buy a funs (get it, guns but with an f, haha) for self prote/k/tion.

Do you just let your empties drop to the ground? Do you always keep one empty space in you magazine pouch[es] so you can put away the empty and grab a fresh one? Do you keep all your spaces full and do some kind of juggling act? ext...
Recently got an East German mag pouch for my VZ and been practicing a juggling act with the magazines so I can use 5 (unlock magazine, grab the bottom with my palm and ring/pinkie and pull it out, grab fresh magazine with thumb and index/middle finger, pop it in, throw empty magazine into the empty space the fresh magazine came out of). Made me wonder how other folk on /k/ like doing it.

Personally, I find all that "western" reloading just awkward. At least with my AK, I tend to do it the basic, you could say "Russian" way: the supportive hand stays on the forestock, the firing hand removes the old mag, takes and inserts new one, and charges the gun.
The rifle can remain pointed towards the target throughout the whole procedure, it's easier to keep up like that, and there's less chance of tumbling with the mags. Even charging the gun's far easier with my right hand.
It's pretty much how the characters reload the AK47 in L4D2, in case you nerds haven't seen this in action.

Military tech is pretty much solely for functionality, and that reflects because shit doesn't change every few years. When I was getting into military shit, I thought the A10 was made in the mid 2000s, not the mid 70s.

I live in Pennsylvania, in a small town that has been reported to be accepting a sizeable number of Syrian refugees. Should I arm up for a possible ISIS attack, or should I take my tin foil hat off? I currently conceal a glock 19 everyday, but was looking to grab an AK-47 for possible medium range fire and some extended magazines for my glock.

Make sure you also shoot at least once a month with both your guns and consider taking a class or too. However the best key to self defense is awareness of your environment. I have taken a few different gun safety and self defense classes. My first being a hunter safety course, which I have taken multiple times over the years to keep it fresh and some various gun safety courses.
ISIS already said they snuck in some of their soldiers with the refugees and I don't want to take any chances since we are getting a bunch of them in my small town.

I'm going to be buying an AR-15 soon for self defense/happening preparation. I can fire a gun easy, but I have no training in fighting or generally using a gun in any setting other than at a firing rage. I'm not looking to join up with the military or a state militia, so how should I go about preparing myself for if/when shit hits the fan?

Keep working on your fundamentals, many a tacticool guy has been blown away by a fudd with a steady hand. Check out whats going on youtube, set up some courses out in the middle of nowhere like it, but don't rely on them explicitly.
Run around, not necessarily with your gun, just exercise before you start shooting, learn to control your shots while your body is uncomfortable. Take a class every now and then to make sure you aren't building bad habits, let other more credible people critique you, and check their critiques to make sure they're legit.
Most importantly just keep shooting to hit, always, it's a perishable skill. Far better to blow 10 rounds every day than 300 rounds at the end of the month. Be consistent and honest with yourself.

There are plenty of classes for tactical shooting techniques at various places and stores. Just find one locally and sign up. Usually costs money and you have to bring tour own gun and ammo. But they will tell you what to expect.

1/2" x 28 is standard for .223/5.56 correct? And 5/8" x 24 is for .30 cal right?
Well somehow this 5.56 is 5/8 x 24. I tried putting a new comp./ brake, but sure enough, the threads are not 1/2". Now I guess I'm limited to .308 style brakes, and sadly they won't be as efficient right? Will this cause any issues? I wanted this gun to kick as little as possible. Are there any benefits to having this odd ball threaded muzzle? Should I just get a Warden/ Forward style comp? Or just cap it with a protector?
Such a simple thing, I don't know how I missed the details...
