1,538 yards with open sights, & rainbow trajectory.

You can get alot done with Enfield MK4 No1 sights and its a 70 year old rifle

Still common with the Eastern combat philosophy as seen with the PSL and SVD. I think its kind of cool. Even if you break your scope or in some way lose your zero the rifle is still useful.

How come nobodies talking about this?
Seems like a good idea for fast shooting.

so i heard the army is adopting this thing to replace the m249 after the marines did the same. can someone explain to me how this thing fills the role of an LMG?
24 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
The theory is that it is more accurate than a SAW thereby being just as suppressive but than again I would prefer more bullets just in case.....
>>
>>27913454
It takes the "automatic rifle" approach to LMGs, placing maneuverability and ability to keep up with the fireteam of more importance than sustained fire. It can still fire at a high rate, just not as much as a beltfed.

Basically an American RPK.

Also, I highly doubt it is replacing the M249, but instead supplementing it in use. Just like with the USMC, it's not like they tossed away all their M249s, they just now have more TO&E flexibility per combat environment.
>>
They are not replacements to the SAW, they are supplementary.

is FAMAS better than the american m4 assault rifle?

Bought it to teach the girlfriend how to shoot because of the price. Have had no FTF, no FTE, came with two magazines holding 16 rounds. Shoots really accurate. The grip does become really slippery with wet hands, may wanna get a Hogue grip sleeve. I'd give it solid 8, shaky 9 out of 10.

After lurking this board for the last 4 months I have gotten the impression and have started to believe that the .45 is insufficient for self-defense roles.

Please help me understand the advantages that this cartridge has over other calibers like the 9mm, aside from capacity.

>>
>>27913259
it's bigger, and leaves a bigger wound channel. It's slower, but good defensive rounds all penetrate to about the same depth, so it's not really relevant.
you're a fucking moron if you think it's insufficient for self defense.

Well, if you ever time travel back to 1910 and have guard duty in the Philippines during the Filipino Insurrection, you may find the Colt 1911 to be pretty handy against raging, drug-fueled local tribesmen who haven't yet learned their children and grandchildren will be allowed to join the US Navy and run the fucking day-to-day operation, be supply chiefs, and mumbling weirdos who sit behind phones all day. They will attempt to scalp your young ass and remove your skin. The .45 is there to help as these bastards charge your post.

So yeah, the .45 is useless for self defense. Go ahead and shoot yourself in the foot, and watch and laugh as the bullet bounces off your sweet keds, or whatever the fuck you loudmouthed, opinionated, "oops, I'm triggered! Get me to my safe space!" manboys are wearing this week.

I hate how in some videogames like Fallout increasing your skill with guns makes the guns themselves stronger. I also never understood how two guns of the same caliber could cause different damage. How would you make a gun skill work and how would gun attributes be handled in your game /k/?

I agree with your first point, but for the second one you can just blame it on barrel length/quality.

There has to be some better way to represent damage though.

So /k/

Whats stopping me from buying this conversion, then using .45acp brass to reload .460rowland?

Same bullet diameters, just a higher chamber pressure, which wont be a problem with the converted barrel.

The case length is .15" longer on .460r brass to keep people from fireing it through a low pressure barrel.

The bullet for .460r is seated deeper, so same c.o.l.

I cant find thr problem, what am i missing? Why is .460r brass a thing?

>>
>>27912829
I'd be concerned about blowing cases, suspect .460 Rowland has thicker walls and a thicker base than .45ACP.
>>
>>27912843
But the same dies are used for resizing.
Dosent that mean its the same thickness? Else it wouldnt fit right?
>>
.460 brass has a MUCH thicker case web. The primary reason its longer is to recoup the powder volume, being too long to chamber in a .45acp pistol is a secondary benefit.

Keep in mind .45super uses the exact same brass as .45acp but will kb many .45acp pistols, and .460 isnt that much hotter.

So I just learned that these are now non-restricted in Canadastan. Should I get this or an SKS? It would be my second rifle, I currently own a bolt action Winchester .22 from the 60s. Also, can someone that owns one tell me the pros and cons and where to find one?

You can only get them used right now they hover around 1000cad.

Most of them were banned a while back then unbanned so dealers have yet to import more.

An updated CZ958 should be coming in a month and is better if you want to mount optics.

So how many people here actually own a plate carrier? Do you have plates for it?

What do they call things like the IOTV that's a soft armor system that can also carry plates?
Are there better alternatives to the IOTV?

Are plate carriers common in the military at all, or do they mostly use the IOTV?

What are some affordable body armor options for civilians?

>What do they call things like the IOTV that's a soft armor system that can also carry plates?

Armor carrier.

>Are there better alternatives to the IOTV?
Yes. IOTVs are fucking horrible. Eagle CIRAS is something I personally have worn and know is better. Sure there are plenty others.

In fact, I'd rather wear an IBA again than wear an IOTV.

>Are plate carriers common in the military at all, or do they mostly use the IOTV?

IOTV or other soft armor vests are the standard issue in the US. Plate carriers are an exception where the command considers the reduced ballistic protection a nessesary trade off for better mobility. Militaries usually default to more protection without a specific reason to go to plate carrier though.

>What are some affordable body armor options for civilians?

I miss the IBA, why did they switch to IOTV again? For the females?
